Redpill me on buying an old HP workstation. It is literally think pad of desktop world.
I can get one with 10 core cpu and 64gb of ram for just under 500$ usd. I mainly plan using it for 2d/3d graphics and shitposting(20+ tabs in bugzila), so that will be plenty.
Meanwhile some söy cucks from PCBG are building poorzen workstations for 1000usd+ and don't get half the power I will. I this ancient garbage boots ofc.

it wishes.
>I can get one with 10 core cpu and 64gb of ram for just under 500$ usd
not bad.

>10 core
With shitty ICP and low clocks
>64GB RAM
As if you're gonna scratch the surface of it anyway

Your older hardware will also suffer from age affects such as malfunction and shitty DRM access.

And yes if you spend $1000 on a system you'll get much more power than that.

Also do you even have an SSD in there?

what about energy usage?

Got 2, can't beat 'em.

That's not an optiplex my man

LMAO

>And yes if you spend $1000 on a system you'll get much more power than that.
ok, post a part list with 64gb of ram and 8 core ryzen for under 1000usd and without any serious compromises, like chink psu or shitty motherboard with no ports.

>10 core cpu
What kind of 10 core though? If it's a Core 2 era Xeon it's still not very fast.

Sounds like a Sandy/Ivy Bridge.

>ThinkPad of desktop world

Nigga that's called a ThinkCenter. We use them at work

Post specs

How can budget builds even compete?

OP, get the cheapest Z620 you can find and upgrade it with a Xeon E5-2687W. 8 cores, 16 threads, and turbos to 3.8ghz.

>$144
what a ripoff

Thinkcenters are virgin. Thinkstations are the real shit. A Thinkstation D30 with dual Xeon E5-2690 would kick the shit out of anything.

lol

If youre a bit more patient you can snag these for $80-100.

I have an optiplex 760 fitted with a gt 710 for around 120 euro. Very solid system for casual use.

how many SATA drives can you stuff into a standard config?

> Ryzen
> 2133mhz ram
Get outta heah

Having firewire and no USB3 ports on the front make me think it's older than that.

ebay.com/itm/312596018815 (with potential to upgrade to 8c16t (e5-2650v2))

Better. Cheaper.

>$1,022
is the AMD internet shilling force this illiterate?

>Core 2
>10 cores
Why is Jow Forums so full of dumbass gamer bros nowadays?

hm, so 4 at most unless you get a card. I assume there is enough mounting space for 4 HDDs if there are 4 SATA ports, right?

There's one 3.5 slot, and a FDD slot, and you can have 2 SSDs dangling.

I like stuffing boxes full of cheap 3TB HDDs. Is this archaic?

Yes.
Sell all of them and get 5TB externals.

not op but im thinking of getting a z820 with dual xeon e5 2690 64 gb and a vega 64 for about 1700 euro dollars, what do you think ?

>How can budget builds even compete?

by having more than 4GB?

mah niqqa

wonder what the failure rate is on 5TB sleek and spacious EHD drives.

Wrong.

Xeon 2620V2 costs $20 in Aliexpress

OP's comparison is with an ancient xeon from a Dell and OEM Dell RAM. Do you think Dell put 4Ghz Gaymer RAM into their workstations?
