it is a buzzword though, machine learning is very powerful when used correctly, but most laymen think of it as actual general artificial intelligence which is straight up wrong. ml today is designed for some one specific task, and requires a ridiculous amount of data to train, this will not change in the near future as it hasn't in the past 70 years because there is no financial incentive to make general artificial intelligence.

Could be that the model was trained on images that had similar hair styles, some with bows/clips in the hair, and some without. This may be the "middle ground" so to speak of having both in the dataset. Who knows for sure though.
