Convince me to like literally anything by shaft
Convince me to like literally anything by shaft
You need to grow the fuck up and realize that anime is trash
Keep breathing.
Have you wrote anything new?
Not much, might actually start something today though. I have been starting a lot of stories, but they don’t really go anywhere
If you mean that in terms of visual quality, they may have that fetish with bending their characters' heads backwards, but overall they have some quite stylish shows, prime example being monogatari; just how many shows out there have such peculiar visuals as it has? And in terms of plot, even if you don't find madoka a masterpiece nor a really great show, you just cannot say it was a bad one. At the very least, it's a good show with nice visuals and it is much more than that, given how much of an impact it had on the genre.
Not liking literally anything by shaft is you childishly refusing to enjoy something popular or just having a shitty taste.
The only impact pmm had was due to the fat neckbeards buying body pillows and action figures. The plot was a hit for normalniggers and the moeshit character design for the main anime audience. Notice how no one gave a fuck about the artist's other works.
It just annoys me so much that people put Shaft upon the artistic pedestal, when I find that they really aren’t something that is all that special. I mean I have nothing against the style, but I feel that is basically just the style carrying everything. I just can’t help get annoyed because of this whenever I watch something by them. I might start to watch Madoka or Montagri again to see if I can change my opinion of them.
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei was pretty good i guess, aside from that i literally cant
Refer to the chart. The anime fanbase is garbage, what do you expect from the faggots who watch repetitive and unoriginal trash? Or do you want to reason with SoL viewers? The only reason these people love anime is guilty pleasure. They're aware what they watch is utter trash, but they still persist in watching it as a shorthand for their lack of personality. Everything emerges from a desperate necessity of consumptions. Mainstream anime fans don't have a taste nor an artistic sense. They watch stuff because "it makes me feel good".

God I wish more normalfags watched Utena
Oh and I'm not claiming the whole lot of anime is trash. But do you want to know what happened to studios which didn't fall in line? They went bankrupt as soon as their works stopped appeasing to the main audience. Manglobe? Gonzo? Production IG? They either conformed or went to shit. Anime died pretty much in 2013 though some 2016 shows are worth one's time.
>watch stuff because "it makes me feel good"
That applies to watching movies and tv shows in general.
this
Except the western audience is infinitely larger than anime and all sorts of shows are produced.
120 days of Sodom doesn’t make you feel good
I don't think comparing asian cartoons to western media as a whole is all that fair.
The main audience for the former are literal children and teenagers.
The thing is, most anime is based upon an already existing work, some manga, ln, vn. Anime is also a predominantly visual medium, so of course visuals will be the most important thing to judge a studio by. An unique style is something quite risky to do you know, why do you think most shows look so similiar? It's way more safe to go with what has been proven succesful, anything that goes outside of that is risky. That's why, when that risk pays, you end up with a show that's something else. I don't want you to suddenly become a shaft fanboy, I'm not one myself, but you said to convince you to like "anything" they made. Monogatari and Madoka are just the two most prolific ones that come to mind, they made Hidamari Sketch which is a really nice show, not a fucking amazing what the hell did they do there one, but a good watch nonetheless. Back to the point though, a studio cannot change its source material too much, so when people talk about whether a studio is bad or good, the plot of most of the shows isn't really a matter of importance, as it was not created by them (with exceptions of course, see madoka). When judging a painting of a scene from greek mythology, for example, you don't make any points about greek mythology, unless they are directly connected to artistic devices used by the author.
Just try to forget those shows were made by shaft, see them as their own thing. If you don't like them, you just don't, if you do, you do, so what.
>watching stuff not for the reason of feeling good, enjoying yourself while doing so
That is the pathetic mindset I hate about elitists, people calling themselves "hardcore fans" etc.
You would think that in the entertainment business, they would focus mostly on entertaining people. The highest form of art is when an artist creates a work which is both beautiful even on the first glance of untrained eye and meaningful, conveying a message upon closer inspection.
Western tv not western cartoons
You've got to pick your fights. You can't appease both the high and low public. If you cater to the former normoids will shun it, while if you make happy the masses you'll have a commercial success but be forgotten the moment a new flavor of the month show/movie takes your place. It's not about elitism, it's about making the difference. William Blake died in misery and isolation as his poetry was largely misunderstood by the masses at the time. Guess what? A century later or so his works were reconsidered and praised in spite of the commercial failure on account of his contemporary readers.
>William Blake
Peak taste, I have the full collection of his poetry. How can one poet be so perfect?
Ok, I guess I will try watching one of their shows again to see if I don’t carry the same annoyance towards them then I did before. What do you recommend?
Romanticism is a nearly perfect aesthetic movement desu
Modernism and existentialism annihilated both the western society and culture. Pop culture is beating a dead horse.
yeah but that's a general problem with selling stuff
things have to be profitable to be sold
and what are you going to do
make people pay taxes for anime production?
>Anime died pretty much in 2013
nah not really
you can't just say a medium dies at one point, it's stupid
people will still be making anime as long people remember it and there will always be people trying to make good animation in japanese style.
