How many hard drives do you own?
I own 1 SSD 1 external and two ironwolf HDDS. Total storage is 30TB

one 7200 1tb

>hard drives
didnt know old people still used this site

>HDD in 2019
lmao

I hope some of this 30TB is a backup and you dont actually keep 30TB without redundancy like a retard.

kek
enjoy your hard drives failing while my stuff is stored on the cloud

Like he needs to backup his anime collection.
Enjoy the sound of your failing hard drive.

about 2 TB

It just works.

>using better technology is for zoomers
Go fuck yourself retard, I have 4hdds for data storage but all my programs and system run on 2 ssd's. You are either underage, NEET or third worlder.

I have over 30TB hosted on a azure uploaded on a 1GB pipe once a week The ironwolves are for local backups. The local Ironwolves are for redundancy. 14TB ssds don't even exist

Frame larger capacity for the same price compared to SSD

blah blah blah
nobody is gonna read all that useless shit gramps
just ugrade to an ssd already

That's pretty funny and I'm surprised I have never seen it before

SSDs became cheap so even NEETs can buy them without a problem.
NEET

My OS is on a 2TB NVME drive.

zoomers literally think "the cloud" is some magical technology and not just data backed up on hard drives, imagine being the guy in this thread who is crying about hard drives well he pays a premium to have his data backed up on hard drives he doesn't own himself

There is no other option for local backups of that size other than HDDs. Unless you want to use fucking magnetic tape.

why do you keep posting that photo gramps?
something you wanna say to me old man?

The main question is, where do you collect 10-15tb of data ?

I'm curious, what are the workloads that cause the fabled HDD failure. Because I still have my old 120 and 240 GB HDDs, both with 5+ YEARS of UPTIME of normie use (internet, vidya, torrenting movies). And while they do work loudly, sometimes cause system lock up when handling big or many files, but they fucking work. Zero bad sectors, zero failures.

Professional video editor, software dev, lots of reasons for data of that size. Its most likely professional use.

Because it triggers zoomers and I find its funny. And I am 22

I get it that video editors might need that space, but why software devs ?

Just because yours didn't fail doesn't mean others won't.

we have 2019 year and big companies still using tapes

NEET

Dude particle sin files can be in the 100gb range.

>laughing at data hoarders
You will beg for sad panda archives soon.

One SSD for the OS, one 2TB HDD for all the storage and games that dont need speeds, and a 500gb nvme SSD for the games that need it (only got it a few days ago). I'll always keep a big ass HDD around for putting shit on.

So that's like 1% of all devs, got it.

Mechanical failures related to the read/write heads inside a HDD are what causes HDD failure. After a while the wear and tear of the reader will break soon or later, but if you are just using HDDs for backup or low usage it's actually very unlikely that you will experience this with modern drives. Unless of course the drive is faulty, in which case you will have errors from day one.

It's entirely possible to use drives like you do and still have them functional even a decade later, it's just that statistically it becomes a coin toss after a while.

Tldr?

First 4 are connected to this PC, rest of HDDs are on NAS.

It depends on what you mean by "own" I've got a media pc, normal desktop and 2 laptops. I don't really use one of the laptops though, but either way, I've got 3 ssds and 3 HDDs.
Also suck my dick, shit thread, but good names for hdds you knobcheese

>2 120gb ocz ssds
>2 1tb 7200rpm shitgate hdds
>1 2tb sandisk ssd
>1 1tb samsung nvme drive
Only the latter 2 are currently in use.

>And I am 22
You are a zoomer yourself.

Sad panda is no more

>using microsoft windows

500gb internal SSD

my NAS has 2 2TB drives (active drive r-synced to backup drive every week with a cron job).

JAV tends to take up a lot of space (each video typically being long as fuck)

What's wrong with that, are you technologically illiterate?

bump :DD

1tb ssd in main computer, bunch of mismatched hard drives in my server.

is Jow Forums having issues with taking a screenshot again?

How can people feel comfortable saving all their shit on an external cloud handing off the data to some faceless company? It's honestly fucking homosexual and you can't access your things offline.

OBEY THE CLOUD

That's a cool name for your fursona.
