Pretty much. After jumping on distros like roasties on cock I went back to Ubuntu. After setting it up all I did was change the dock icon size and the date format up top.
I can't be the only one that likes Ubuntu's take on Gnome. I miss Unity though.

It's pretty good for Linux newcomers and it looks good but the lack of customization and the shell really turn me off, and I know GNOME tweaks is a thing but still I'm more of a KDE/XFCE shill

GNOME lets you add widgets; i.e. i have a weather and app widget added right now. Takes 10 seconds to add both, no console needed.
Shell is pretty inconvenient when you first use it, but after some time you get 100% used to it and it's comfy

yep. I've bounced around, but the reliability (alongside up-to-date software) and software availability of Ubuntu is unmatched. You can do a minimal install if you're an autist about bloat
