do you think it's stupid to run a mining pool? i was going to get started on it today using unomp and setup a web server in the coming days when my hp dl380's arrive. i was thinking of trying to run a 3 node server cluster with a ups for power redundancy + a single rx480 as an entry mining card to get the pool running.

but maybe it's unrealistic. i figured if solar covers the costs i could slowly expand the pool and attract new miners by having just 1% mining fee and slowly expanding my mining rig to maybe a total of 12 rtx 2070s and 6 rx480's, with the hope of coming even and eventually making a real profit when a coin in the mining pool has a good market day.

i thought maybe i could setup an exchange with the coins my mining pool generates as initial volume for the exchange as well as ease of access for the miners using my pool.

but now i'm starting to think it's stupid.

i also bought a stack of cisco switches and routers but maybe its overkill for a home setup.
