Now that dust has settled, what's the verdict on x570 and zen 2?

For me, I decided to hold on to my 3770k for x670 and zen 3.

verdict: wait some more

Have had zero issues with my 3600, even on a flashed x470 board. No whea errors, and I don't play destiny 2 so completely issue free over here. And my 3600 absolutely BTFOs my old 4690k.

Though OP since you have an i7 you could easily wait another year and be fine. Shit I could have made due with my i5 but I was getting really tired of having to close shit out. And getting an i7 was half the cost up upgrading to zen 2 so I was like, fuck it.

As long as you don't play certain games or run certain applications it's perfectly fine.

Wait for Zen 3

Why can't amd get backwards compatibility right? They might as well call zen 2 AMD63 as it can't run all x86_64 programs anyway

going to get a 3900x to make my penis head more sizeable

I just OC'd my 4770k a bit more. Should be fine for another 2 years.

That's what I thought about my 3570k, but in a lot of games it's bottlenecked.

Only 4 threads is a problem in some modern games. I would upgrade asap in your case.

Nah, he'll be fine

Just get a 9700k and be done with it. Shit just works and will last for many years.

>in a lot of games

Which games?

x670 will be zen2+ you fucking imbecile

Zen 2+ doesn't exist (in name). It's called Zen 3.

Are the voltage or whatever other issues with Zen 3 only relevant for people mixing the new CPUs with older hardware? I've been waiting a long time for a new build. If I plan on doing a completely new build with Zen 3 and an x570 mobo, is there any problems I need to watch out for?

There is no Zen2+, Zen2 is not getting a refresh.
Zen3 is 7nm EUV, and is new arch.

> Zen2 is not getting a refresh
There were some rumors about new AM4 CPUs in the first half of 2020.

There were "rumors" that Zen2 would have 5ghz all core boost clocks too. Rumors are the lifeblood of retards.

The only issues are getting your old mobo to boot with the new Ryzens. If it does though you are golden. The high voltages are not a problem since 7nm is designed to run at those

I'll hold onto my 1241 v3 until Zen 2 drops in price enough to get a 3700X and a mobo with 3 x16 slots (at least x8+x8+x8) for 600 tops.

Why do you need 3 x16 sluts, user?

For a 2TB Optane RAID0 + GFX card + WiFi card.

>wifi
>needing X16
>GPU
>needing X16
>RAID card
>needing X16

None of these things need X16. A RTX 2080ti only gives like 3% when going from PCI-E 3.0 X8 to X16.

I said I wanted them to be able to work at x8+x8+x8. I only want then to be physically x16. Besides, the WiFi card will go into a x1 slot.

That's where I'm at right now too. Still rocking a 2500k and it's starting to show its age with some stuttering in more recent titles.

That and I want to get a 144hz monitor.

i would like 3x16 sluts a lot, thank you very much

And the optane raid was a joke. I need one x16 slot for the GFX card and another one for the sound card which, unless I'm misremembering, is x4 but nothing has x4 slots so I need 2, and I want to have at least one x16 slot free after that just in case.

What now?
