i owned one of these and used it for 2 years. it's a piece of shit. the software on the player itself is buggy as all fuck, the syncing software for windows is buggy as all fuck, the thing hardlocks all the time etc. if it wasn't for the sound quality (which was good compared to value players at the time but now not so special) i wouldn't have used it at all.

You could look at an old iPod Nano model. I have no clue what they're selling for compared to an iPod Classic that have skyrocketed over the years.

android phone + droidsound-e and VLC plays everything, so PMP players are pretty obsolete,
but as far as lightweight players go. I still have my rockbox sansa clip+ and I got this 2GB Jensen mp3 player that runs off of a single AAA battery. Believe it or not, this Jensen supports OGG, so it's pretty great, and when I bought it, they were selling them for under $10.
What should I get? One fuze+ new for $70 or one that went into "panic mode" when the seller plugged it into their pc and now has a white screen with text that I cant read on the photo. That one is $30. I don't want to waste money but also want it to actually fucking work.

What's the battery situation like for iPods these days? I really haven't had that great of luck with Chinese batteries for my other electronics. That link about aftermarket batteries that claims sellers are trying to sell the batteries as anywhere between 112% and 167% of their actual capacity (assuming they're even decent quality to start with) doesn't inspire confidence.

The greatest thing I ever done was trade out my v20 for an iPhone once I realized I don't even really do much on my phone other than send texts and play on a couple apps. 32gbs thus far has been perfect for me.
