apple laptops really fell of a cliff, after 2015 especially
>shitty fucking gpu, even the top end vega 20 is worse than the weakest current gen nvidia laptop gpu (1650 max q)
>fucking no ports, couldn't even include 1 usb a or a display output
>no key travel, might as well be using a touch screen. also the percentage of broken keyboards are in the double digits
>t.2 chip, you're fucked if you want to replace any part, upgrade ssd/ram, or install any os other than Windows 10

Something like a x201 with upgraded hardware, a gpu enough for training toy models and a higher res display.
Replace the Express card by a HDMI port and the modem port by a usbc, upgrade the USB ports to usb3 and I'm good.

Attached: thinkpad t420.jpg (4134x3662, 1.26M)

so an x210 with egpu then?

i actually got one of those motherboards and a high rez screen but never atually put it into my x201
lol

Modern with one with high profile keycaps.

How is Razer making the 17" Macbook Pro that Apple should be fucking making?!?!

What the fuck is going on. The designs are way too similar If Apple made the dang thing a few mm thicker and 0.5 lbs heavier, the stupid thing wouldn't throttle in 20 seconds and Apple could even put a real graphics card in there.

This but with modern specs/screen, maybe a bit thinner

Attached: dims.jpg (600x450, 60K)

It's just a board with a keyboard that can connect to any screen, because Man was not meant to work in those shitty 16 inches displays.

i want that DE

Are these those Chinese motherboards that fit in a x201 chassis?

this, came here to post it

Macbook pro 13 with dual boot is pretty much perfection.

I don't care for Apple stuff in general but I've never had a laptop whose trackpad felt as good to use as a Macbook. Even with an equivalently-priced Dell XPS or whatever, it always felt "off"

My old laptop (2014 asus) that I bought for college is still doing good so far and I've already upgraded it to the maximum (samsung 240GB SSD, 2*8gb 1600 ddr3 ram and replaced the battery and keyboard) and I only do word processing, web browsing and moderate gaming on this thing. Besides I already have a decent gaming rig at home.

Still, if I ever need to buy another laptop, I'm looking at Dell XPS latest offering

The new XPS 13 except with replaceable RAM/SSD/Wifi

Delid & Downvolt should be cool enough
$4k and mounts desktop parts, NO mobile cpu & gpu

Probably just a 12" aluminium PowerBook G4 with modern components and a better trackpad. I don't ask for much.

are you telling me there are laptops that don't have this by default?

user, it has 4 usbs and 4 display outputs. I agree with the keyboard and T2 chip tho

The ideal laptop is something like T43/T61 - but with a more modern hardware (like the next-gen AMD Ryzen mobile APUs) *without* any of the backdoors (Intel ME/AMD PSP).
Ideally corebootable.
Preferably with a thunderbolt, RJ45 serial port, gigabit ethernet, and no dedicated GPU.
I'd pay up to 2000 bucks for the above.

An X220/T420 with modern innards, USB 3.1, USB C, 1080p screen. There

Don't know about 'dream' laptop but I'm about to buy pic related with a 9750H and 2080 Max-Q. Been researching for fucking ages and it's between this and an Alienware, but I just can't settle with the idea of paying a shitload of money for a laptop with a 1080p TN panel, the Aero is 4k AMOLED at least

just release the entry level17 inch 4k version already you cunts

>14 inch 1080p OLED screen
>thin bezels
>16GB RAM
>512GB NVMe SSD
>passively cooled, no fan
>powerful ARM SoC for long battery life yet enough power for browsing/office/watching videos/very light image editing
>backlit Thinkpad keyboard
>Thinkpad build quality
>large battery

what kind of laptop is this? looks fucking nice

Lenovo S940

>upgrade ssd/ram
Won't that be impossible regardless, since everything is soldered onto the board?

An iPad Pro that runs macOS, I'd spend $2,000+ on that easily.

Thinkpad with 8 core zen 2 apu

is that way gaymers

Quadro cards are a scam.

my fuckign god - my gf owned a razor laptop and it had to be the worst pile of shit I have ever interacted with.
Terrible from day one - got a full refund from Razor thanks to the help of australian consumer law.

Terrible product

Just get the 16GB version, you doofus.
I'm pretty sure you can replace the SSD too.
The wifi card, yeah it sucks. I don't understand what the fuck DELL were thinking. I mean, they could have at least put a new card that supports bt 5.0 like they did for the new XPS 15, but no, they had to go full Jewish mode. The worst thing is that it isn't soldered on the previous gen, so if you buy the last gen, you can still replace it.

Full name of this website is 4channel, not Jow Forums. Nothing to do with animay.

This, just give me a t420 with a ryzen processor or simply half-decent dedicated graphics.

I bought a nice 13.3" 1080p laptop in 2016 for $500 because when I was a teenager I would use my laptop all the time. Turns out it's just strictly less comfortable to use than a desktop.
If I actually had a use for it and the money I would get one of these though. It's the best looking laptop currently available IMO

Attached: csm_DSC_0903_watermarked_b39ba3981f.jpg (1620x1080, 420K)

there are absolutely fucking NO good laptops now
>XPS now using killer wifi and you play the coil whine lottery
>thinkpad T series is dead
>macbook keyboards are fucked and guarantee you a paperweight after warranty expires
>surface laptop has fucking FABRIC and you can't even take the bottom off let alone service anything
>HP build quality is universally dogshit
am I missing something? gayming laptops are unironically the better option at the moment but I don't want a dgpu and I don't want the fucking teenage red LED meme box with jagged edges.

gen 7 seems to have fixed the speakers which were my main issue but currently only the 300nit display max is available in aus which is hot dogshit

Any idea when the next models are coming out?

Or alternatively the X62.

Attached: X210.jpg (4032x3024, 808K)

I'd like to have one of these but I couldnt get a single comprehensive English sentence out of them

Macbooks are going back to the scissor switch, so there's that.

not until at least late next year though right? I need a laptop now

Rumour is late this year or early next year, there's also the upcoming 16" Macbook Pro due soon which I'd imagine would have the new keyboard design.

early next year surely for the next 13", which is what I want. I'm not after a $4k facebook machine

> 15.6in 4k display, 100% Adobe sRGB accuracy

Basically this. Current laptop has an 8700k, a GTX 1080, and a 4k screen. Would like to upgrade it with at least an RTX 2080, a less fire-prone equivalent of the 9900k, and a better 4k screen.

'no'

you need to leave, summerfriend

I literally own it

Last 13" Macbook Pro with full sized USB ports

It's perfect for what a laptop is supposed to be used for

If I had to buy something new, I'd spend time checking whatever touchpad has the best linux drivers, then get that and boot Manjaro, as Windows is beyond shit tier

My p52 thinkpad has been pretty satisfactory in my opinion

is there a laptop better suited for 2d graphics/photography than a macbook pro?

The X1 Extreme is a beast.

X395 could have been it but they went with soldered on memory.

Attached: csm_DSC_0018_69558f5f30.jpg (1800x1200, 456K)

a t430 with a t420 keyboard , corebooted and with a 1080p display .

I don't get why people complain about soldered RAM, just get the config you need from the start.
If you want to upgrade you'd probably have to replace the stick(s) already in there unless you get a matching set.
My friends that care about upgradable RAM have funnily enough never actually done it

Basically looks like a razerblade with oled but macos. no graphics card.

I always buy laptops with upgradeable ram and always do it.
Even if I have to replace the sticks, I'll just get sodimm to dimm adapters and set them up in some cheap PC I donate to a local school or the like.

Forgot to add that the ethernet requires a dongle too. About the soldered ram, it's a ryzen. I could had install better performing sodimms to get the most out of it. I've also seen laptops with soldered ram and a single memory slot becoming unusable because one of the soldered on memory chip became bad.

The x360 with the P2000
100% Adobe RGB 10-bit display. Yum.

>He hasn't heard
Everything is soldered like a macbook now so you'll have to pay like $800 to upgrade to a 1TB SSD even though they actually cost about $150 for that performance tier.

I'm talking about the 9390

>17"

Mine will be here tomorrow

There are no 9390 (yet).
The 2019 model is the 9380.
The 2018 model is the 9370.
