The absolute state of iToddler security

>Google's Project Zero team have shared details of five flaws in Apple's iMessage software that could make its devices vulnerable to attack.

>In one case, the researchers said the vulnerability was so severe that the only way to rescue a targeted iPhone would be to delete all the data off it.

>Another example, they said, could be used to copy files off a device without requiring the owner to do anything to aid the hack.

>Apple released fixes for the five flaws last week, but a sixth bug is being withheld as there is no fix yet. The unfixed flaw could give hackers a means to crash an app or execute commands of their own on recent iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches.

imessage is one of the few good things these days for ios.

At this rate we should revert to instant messaging essentially.. just use signal.

most ppl on android use facebook messenger or whatsap, which is essentially backdoored they just analyze your message on device so they can claim end to end encrypted.

I'll never get tired of this, because it just never ends. Every week they're something new to laugh at them for.

Undeniably based

why would google do this? do they get paid?

Only one hasn't been fixed yet. The other five got patched.

Don't care, keep seething behind daddy's hand me down android, I'm sure he'll trust you with an iPhone eventually.

Corporate altruism? It looks good and makes Google harder to kill

Most security teams at large tech companies are effectively autonomous. They work to find major exploits, whether it makes them money or not.

They gain prestige by making headlines like this. The effect this has on recruiting is far greater than any monetary gain you might gain by acting as private security consultants.

bassd

Well that and there's no commercial benefit to having devices full of security holes. Having a team that's finding bugs on other company's devices helps google as they're so large. Not only that but they gain skills to apply to google products as well.

nah it's mostly to shit on the competition. Public humiliation is worth every penny to those petty fucks

What would be a good phone to use if Apple is shit?
Anything Android is fucked. I’ve swapped over to Android before, it isn’t an experience you enjoy, it’s an experience you survive.
Anything owned by Google pretty much openly tells you it’s spyware.
I’m using Apple right now, but I want out of this hell. What would be the most secure, Jow Forums approved cellular phone hardware and OS?
