All laptops are shit

all laptops have one or more of the following problems and are thus shit,
>clickpad or software left/right click, no dedicated left and right hardware mouse buttons
>touchpad is just shit
>PWM display
>gets too hot under load, can't undervolt enough
>weighs way too much
>flimsy crap build quality
>no 17" display option
>bad battery life
>cost way too much/way overspec'd
>TN display or IPS with abysmal color space coverage
>gets too loud, lowering fan speed overheats
>hinge doesn't open far enough or is too flimsy
>lack of at least one port you need
>soldered battery, RAM, drive or just can't be upgraded enough
>shitty keyboard
>abnormally limited BIOS options

>no 17" display option
>soldered battery, RAM, drive or just can't be upgraded enough
You're not looking hard enough.

t. Lenovo P580 with 17" display, removable battery, removable RAM and maxed out to 16 GB DDR3 and 2 TB HDD, with 3 hours battery life for a 6-year-old computer.

were you trying to be ironic or do you just not understand english very well

I'm using a t450s and it suits me very well. Try not being autistic.

>half height arrow keys

This is the most revolting one for me.

>Bought a 17.3" on eBay for $100
>Already had extra capacity 9-cell battery
>Spent less than $100 more on 8GB RAM and a 480GB SSD to upgrade it
>CPU runs quietly anywhere from 37°C to 46°C
>Plenty of ports including eSATA and HDMI >Nice keyboard, and motherboard has ziff socket to add backlit keyboard
>Disable touchpad and use good quality mouse
Newer laptops do leave a lot to be desired, I'll give you that. But you can find something decent for cheap.

This

ideal laptop thread?
>x120e
>modern energy efficient AMD SoC
>replace the display and cut the bezel/webcam to fit a high dpi 16:10 display
>cut the trackpad in favor of a higher dpi trackpoint
the body/keyboard/battery/etc are already surprisingly ideal

You're just a poorfag. Buy something nice from MSI and you get basically all of that

>HDD
Can I can swap for SSD?

Attached: 4568334847475.png (276x465, 370K)

>tfw OP is right
Too expensive
Too old and slow for 2020

>Already had extra capacity 9-cell battery
That's nice but I bet your actual battery life is shit
>CPU runs quietly anywhere from 37°C to 46°C
In other words you barely use your CPU
>Disable touchpad and use good quality mouse
If this were an option I'd not be using a laptop
All of their stuff has multiple major flaws. You literally can't buy a bare minimum level of quality cost no object but cost should be a factor too as you should be able to buy a laptop that isn't overspec'd and thus overpriced for your needs.

>Too old and slow for 2020
of course, I was saying with a better display/soc it would be the perfect laptop
it even has middle click! what modern laptops have middle click?

>Too expensive

I bought it for $250 canadian dollars.

What's the mod modable laptop? I don't mind buying a shitty cheap laptop if I can feasibly switch out the parts.

Are laptop motherboards worth replacing?

Attached: 2.jpg (750x937, 107K)

Yes

I wish there a standardized laptop form factor with all interchangeable parts where you could swap displays, case's, mobos, fans, gpus, etc but there's so much engineering that goes into making the design efficient that a laptop standard could actually hinder things worse than before. You're pretty much at the mercy of what the OEM supplies you with.

Uh, my first quick search had returned retarded high prices.

Frankenstein thinkpads can get pretty extreme.

That's because they're years old business-grade laptops. That was their original price years ago, you buy them on craigslist or ebay now and they're high quality for relatively cheap.

display is too small
the 17" thinkpads I looked at had one or more of shit battery, overweight and PWM display
thinkpads are fucking garbage for 17 inchers.

Why the fuck do you need 17 inches, to match the cock you take?

t. lapsmallcock

Thats pretty rad. Research shows A max of 4 cores depending on intel vs amd. What do you hace and how many cores (real + logical) does it have?

There's no irony in it. It's called knowing what to look for, instead of being a mentally disabled zoom zoom.

Yes, as long as it's SATA.

>.t edgy pessimistic summerfag

Speaking of laptops, is there a laptop with good to great screen for content consumption, decent GPU, great CPU, and still runs quiet-ish at load?

Most important to me is display, after that quietness (including coil whine), then CPU, and then GPU.

Sure can. I put a 1TB Samsung 860 in my 5 year old laptop and also put additional RAM in it.

yeah an iPad pro

Gotta be able to run a full desktop operating system

Also I should add it should have 16gb of ram or more, or the option to upgrade to 16gb

>It's called knowing what to look for
p580 does not fit criteria.
>instead of being a mentally disabled zoom zoom
It's funny that you're being an insulting little cunt whilst simultneously having no clue what you're posting about.

macbook pro

Name a single laptop that doesn't have at least one of the listed faults.

Panasonic CF-31

lul.

>He's never used a P580 to know that it fits the criteria
Retard detected.

Another retard detected

CF-52's the 17 incher.

Huh, never considered this. How easy it is to install Linux or Windows on a 2019 macbook?

Nvm, googled and looks like it's really easy. Any non applel options?

Why do you keep listing laptops with a sub 17 inch display and then act like I don't know what I'm posting about? Do you find yourself entertaining?

Moddable laptops would be really huge, and would honestly make the pc world more exciting.

Everything starts somewhere, and there's no doubt a lot of money to be made.

Because it's a pretty big laptop... For you.

Also, why do you need a laptop to have the same size as an outdated monitor from 2003?

the 2019 macbooks pros are actually pretty good unlike the previous year ones. You won't find better screens because other decent laptops are either aimed at gaymurs or office drones and college students/kids so the quality suffers as a result

As opposed to an outdated monitor from the 90's ala your laptop?

the reason any configuration in laptops is dying is because majority of buyers never mod. And shit like removable hard disks and ram are a cause for security risk if stolen

>You won't find better screens
Retina meme died years ago kid.
We have 4k HDR IPS displays on sub 14" laptops.

yeah with shitty washed out color range

Fuck, forgot to mention resolution. Are there any 1080p, maybe 1440p good to great displays on laptops? 4k is too excessive and hard to drive for me.

i cant upgrade my 50$ chickpad t61 to 128gm ram

>keyboard layout switches Fn and Ctrl

You are expected to have a downside when getting something portable.
Especially when you have a price maximum.
