audacious

For just playing audio files I use vlc as a default but as a music library I love banshee, it's not perfect but it's the best I've found on any OS.

ncmpcpp is perfect

cmus

This is top tier, but an user bullied me into using cmus and now that I'm used to it I'm liking it even more than mpd+ncmpcpp.

this

deadbeef

Audacious if you want a simple music player and you're not autistic, otherwise Clementine. Everything else is garbage, including everything else on windows and macOS.

>Everything else is garbage
Winamp is pretty based.

none, they all suck, specially library detection changes, fuck they are so bad.
it's shit

/thread

it's in your pic

mpv

>library detection
Only literal zoomers care about that.

Amarok or Clementine.

Clementine, Strawberry, or gmusicbrowser for big libraries and fancy features.

Deadbeef for a quick lightweight foobar-like experience.

MOC or MPD for console-based players.

Clementine development is sort of abandoned at this point, is DeaDBeeF a suitable alternative?

Musicb-, I mean Foobar2-, I mean... shit.

Sorry lincucks

Biboto, is that you?

I like atunes.org/

I don't think that's me, I'm not familiar with that name.

im actually sad that the creator wont make it open source. musicbee is based and deserves to be on gnu linux

It heavily relies on .NET unfortunately, so I doubt a Linux port would be doable without a complete rewrite

what does .net do anyway? handle system hooks?

>I mean Foobar2-
That's what Deadbeef is for the most part.

oh and also idgaf about musicbees backend, the frontend is what i want ported.

audacious for CDs, cmus for everything else

i just use mpd + mpc and emms

Using a GUI just to play audio is literal bloat. So much useless and unnecessary garbage.

Based
Any wrappers that you're using?

audacious is just winamp for linux
a gnuamp, if you can say so.

Unironically Plex + Plexamp

for playing music as background noise I always end up using pianobar because I can't be assed to keep a collection of music myself

mpd for playback
beets for library management
whichever client(s) you prefer for queue management

a turntable you fucking zoomers

This. I was looking for something a bit like Foobar2000 or the old Winamp. Everything else seems to want to be a library management solution. I just want something that plays through and shuffles playlists and folders. I have my music library organized into folders.

i personally like cmus for the simplicity, dont really mind that its terminal based

all are trash and surprisingly over complicated to set up or navigate [why it's the case with open source...]

on windows you have footbar2000 or aimp or pot player, on android you have neutron, power amp or can install 4viper [or whatver it was, that equilizer]

meanwhile on linux or shit is weak and lacking or is too advanced to use because it has no even simplest gui

Clementine

I like Quod Libet

MPV and plaintext playlists does the job
