That's pretty cool, I had a similar idea a while back but with a hard drive

user im not sure how that would work.

Well, I'm not even sure android would support it, but a OTG cable connected to a external USB hard disk. And then tape it or something

Yeah I don't think I'd want an exposed battery like that

Why the fuck is this old device so smooth

I've done that on Android

yep, that's just a disaster waiting to happen.

what? make an expensive grenade?

nice

its safer because the battery isnt made by apple.
I daily carried an exposed cell on the back of my phone exactly like that for a year. no issues.

Just buy a phone case and superglue a flat battery bank to it retard.

directly connected is always a fuckload of a better experience, retard.
And this wasnt even serious, I just made it out of boredom because I have a few SEs kicking the shit. if I was going to make a serious device, I would mill out the entire battery location, and either stack cells, or create a multi cell pack with external balance protection and bms/charging.
I would also hollow out an odderbox case or something to put it in, or in the case of stacked cells, glue a piece of leather over it, as the extra cell would hardly stick out but a mil or two

>very thick phone case suggesting you are reasonably clumsy
>loose mechanical hard drive attached by a single rubber band

Does drive spin down when idle?

Just put some plastic/aluminum/whatever plate over that battery, those are not made to exposed like that. Nothing will happen from uniform pressure but keys or something sharper could trigger "termal event".

lol

>exposed battery stuck to the back
My chinkphone gets 14 hours SoT already, lol at these stupid gimmicks.

it has a hard tpu cover that goes on over it. if the cover gets punctured by keys, then my leg is probably going to be broken at that point anyway.
depends on the drive itself. that one does.
this thing is approaching 24 hours. I'm considering a dynamic load next. 24 hours SOT for 3000mah (china battery so probably a bit less) is just telling that phones these days are fucking retarded inefficient
actually, I should capacity test the battery next.

Or just that your meme phone has a small screen that uses barely no battery.

correct. that's m point, why are phone makers only interested in high capacity large inefficent phones where a SE with even 2500mah would last a couple days of use

There was Nokia N91 back in the day with 4Gb hard drive.

My 2.5 drive won't start on phone, just clicks.

get a phone that isnt a piece of shit

Thanks for insightful tip.

I don't get it? How do you connect the battery?
