I dont watch movies

everything above 320p is a meme

I have a 1440p144hz monitor and a 4k 60hz monitor, I usually download stuff in 4k when possible.

I will only use the 1440p for movies occasionally though, since the 4k is usually the better option.

Unless it's lossless, higher bitrate is king.

anime is sub 1080 so that

>watching movies on a computer monitor

... what would be the purpose of watching 4K content on a 1440p monitor?

it's higher bitrate, and resolution than 1080p content, which would be the next available lower res copy.

Because it's better than upscaling 1080 1.5x instead.

bitrate > resolution

I'd rather get lossless DVD quality (480p) than most of the 720p or 1080p YouTube quality videos I see.

>he thinks when he's streaming 4k he's getting 4k
should we tell him?

Based and bitrate pilled.
High quality decoders can reconstruct the image very well, as long as it is not compressed to hell.

that was a wild fucking leap you just made, man.
I don't stream anything.

fork refers to resolution

1080p, there's virtually nothing worth watching in 4k
Also this

>there's virtually nothing worth watching in 4k
...on a 1440p monitor?
If you mean 4k on a native 4k display then you're just wrong my guy
Proper 4k content on a native 4k panel is noticeably better than 1080p

I'd say it's even better for gaming but the price for the hardware to run it well enough is just too damn high

Porn

in 720p with good bitrate through madvr NGU sharp
looks better than blurays

explain

>brainwash yourself with tech media
>believe that 1440p is a worthwhile upgrade from 1080p
>buy a 400 dollar 1440p monitor
>notice that whenever you watch any 1080p content, you have black bars at the side of your screen
>almost all media is 1080p
Imagine being *that* gullible

Find me some movies that aren't recent superhero and action garbage in 1440p for a start. Maybe some 4K versions of those exist as well. But here's another thing:

Both. Why not use both?

What are you even talking about, both 1080 and 1440 (should) have the same aspect ratio so unless your shitty ass media player stops upscaling for some unknown reason you shouldn't see any black bars

You absolute morons know 1440p is 16:9, right

Downscaling more info > Upscaling less info

This is true for both video and audio
This is basic as fuck

720p

Any public trackers or DDL sites you guys use to download 4k movies?

720p on my 4k tv.

Bitrate is all that matters since I'm not gonna freeze frame and analyze every single frame.

yes we all guessed you watch only chink cartoons

Then why are you on Jow Forums?

Could be, why the fuck would I care when I don't own one? But most of them are 27" and more commonly up, so you're bound to see black areas at those sizes. Also forget about gaming on those because of the extra work GPU has to do to push twice as much pixels. So, what do you gain by buying a 1440p monitor at this point exactly?

27" 1440p at 16:9 won't show black bars with 16:9 1080p videos, how fucking retarded are you?

If the game is set to render at 1080 it doesn't fucking matter to the GPU if you have a 1440p screen or not you absolute dumbfuck.

I said something. You didn't read it for some reason.

IT. DOES. YOU. RETARD. I thought I already posted a source here, but that was in another consumerist general, my bad. Here it is, 3 minutes in:

>If the game is set to render at 1080
Wow.............. Is that another benefit of buying a 1440p screen as well? Just face it, it's too early for 1440p anything, when even some of the best GPUs money can buy struggle:

I own a 3840x1600 monitor but I run 2 hdmi cables and use PiP so that it behaves exactly like 2 monitors when I want and I can disable PiP when I dont. Having one monitor with no bezels is kino af

You worry too much about resolution, little guy

>using anything post 1080p
yikes

I used to watch in 1080p because I didn't care about quality as much as download speed... but now that I have 5 megab(y)te / sec downloads I go full 4k.

Usually 1080p.
4k is really not worth it unless you sit uncomfortably close.

1080p

>watching movies on a monitor
Kill yourself

>watching movies
good goy

>240p with 50 mbps is better than 1080p with 40 mbps

Agreed. 1080p slightly upscaled looks just as good as if it was a 1080p monitor, which means it looks great for stuff like anime.

4K is just more file size and you're basically throwing some of the information away if you're playing it on a 1440p display, which makes the extra file size mostly a waste. It would theoretically look sharper though.

throwing some of the information away is always better than up scaling from a lower quality resolution.

movies are for niggers

Sounds like you should learn how to use a computer 1st

Isn't the main benefit of 1440p supposed to be that it's an even 2x of 720p instead of some odd fraction?

The main benefit of 1440p is that its 45% more pixels than 1080p at the same screen size for video games. 1440p is a videogaming resolution, period.

>at the same screen size
>not upgrading from 23-ish inch to 27 inch with the switch from 1080p to 1440p
>wanting the entire UI in ant size
>inb4 hurr zoomerscaling

plen

>3440x1440
Literally watching movies in 4K without black bars as God indented it to be.

>lossless video final media
It doesn't exist
The only video you'll get lossless are RAW footages
