Why does apple like listening to things like this?

The article made it pretty clear.

Again, retard, was this from accidental "Hey Siri"? If so, what do you think would happen?

As an incel this post really was tough to read

I cry out Siri's name whenever I'm getting hot and heavy with a real girl

Maybe it picks up people saying sir? Only thing I can think of that would justify it
Parker King
it was an apple internal which sent usage stats and similar , or in this case voice recordings of any apple device that supports siri. you need not yell 'hey siri' since its listening to everything regardless.
Adam Gutierrez
Shit I should have taken that chance to do apple contracting
Anthony Foster
well obviously its for harvesting gay porn

The key phrase is "Hey SIRI", like other voice apps. Then you need to decode the spoken words in context. I have trouble when I'm in the same room sometimes. Especially people with heavy French, Scottish or US accents.
A common word in one country might have a diferent meaning in another. The AIs need a lot of training and they need humans to tell them when they're right or wrong.
Cameron Kelly
Apple is only sorry that they got caught spying on recorded "accidental" Siri phrases.
If you still believe that Apple cares about privacy, I have a bridge to sell you.
Matthew Richardson
Tell me more about your bridge. I was thinking about what i'm missing in my life and bridge is exactly what i need right now.
Mason Bennett
ITT people who doesn't understand it listens all the time to find out if people say hey siri
Elijah Ward
what kind of bridge are you selling?
I am always in the business of burning bridges
Ian Hill
oh snap
Lincoln Smith
"hey siri" is the safe word for reddit users.
Brandon Reyes
siri's always recording, the purpose of "hey siri" is to let the phone know when it's okay for it to respond. it'd be pretty embarrassing for apple if siri went
>*BIPP* cOuld n0t find anyy reSults for "aaw YEah RighT IN ThE Ass DAddy"

>>he thinks "hey siri" is detected locally
It is, that's why it is falsely triggered so often. They use quite a simple waveform comparitor to detect a "hey siri" call out. Things that sound completely unrelated to use don't look unrelated when you're just looking at the waveform.

How dumb are you exactly? It says right there in Siri settings that it is always listening. How is the iPhone supposed to activate Siri when you call it, without actually being able to hear you before you started the fucking phrase. What’s wrong with the IQ of this place these days? You don’t have to use it, you know. I don’t.
Jaxon Martinez
Wait. There was a time when I could sign up as a contractor and listen through Siri recordings and see if it had caught anything sensitive, and keep that data for my own use?

This. Your iDevice is constantly recording. Always.
