I'd really like to AB these against the kii three, they impressed me a lot but it seems the kii are even crazier

subtle horn speakers

Don't call it a horn. We say 'waveguide' these days.

well, it is, but usually it refers to the art form

Now I listen to my Technics sb-40. Vintage made in Japan.
You would not understand.

I have grown to hate this thread
Same post, same op image, every day, without fail
Never any discussion in the comments, just images
It's like groundhog day but it takes place in a potemkin village
If I ever go insane seeing this thread will be what sends me over the edge

You could just "hide" the thread instead of sperging out. But then you wouldn't get your chance to have tantrum.

I'd be careful buying a vintage (semi) automatic on a budget. Those mechanisms are failure prone and not that easy to fix.

didn't know that -- thanks user

I put away a huge receiver and bookshelf speakers to use creative pebbles on my two computers.

USB-powered, huge sound and they cost $20 a set. Honestly revolutionary quality for the money. I actually got my second pair on amazon for like 16.

Image fagmiliar.

I put away my headphones and switched to a high current amplifier and high resolution speakers routed from a ThinkPad running WAV off of WinAmp into a dac. Sounds preddy gud.

Interesting set up with the minidisc console.

When I have nothing to do, I record cassettes onto minidiscs and vice versa. It's kind of stupid but it gives me time to relax. I'm still looking for an MDLP deck that I can actually afford, but this has been a really nice set up for my own personal use.

I've got the smaller SB-30s.

They sound surprisingly good for only having a single, tiny driver. No proper bass to speak of but otherwise thoroughly agreeable.

>kii are even crazier
It's a different means of getting the cardioid pattern, and the drivers don't have very much audiophile cred. But better/worse how?

Those are not sorted by color.
Also: tweeters on the outside for maximum spatial sound.

Thanks, I'll reorient them

I've got a Harmon Kardon 6100 integrated amp connected to two infinity bookshelf speakers. I'm using a phono to aux cable to connect my laptop to the amp. It sounds perfectly fine to me. My questions for you audio autists: will hooking up a DAC between the PC/amp noticeably improve the signal? Seems like it would be an expensive venture for minimal payoff.

I have never owned Infinity speakers, but I understand they can vary wildly in quality.
Older standmounts with the emit tweeter are highly regarded but some newer stuff is supposed to be no more than average.
So except if they are totl infinity's I'd look at upgrading speakers first.

why

are you streaming music from laptop soundboard to the amp?

the amp is good so it depends on what model of infinity speakers you are using as other user stated

?

what remains of old Infinity, the laminate board on the front face is often failing, and the woofer surrounds are disintegrating or refoamed -- its a dirty shame

I like Anker Liberty Air myself.

They're a pair of RS 125 Infinity speakers. Retailed for $200 in 1993.
pdfstream.manualsonline.com/7/7792f1f9-fdd9-4a26-87f6-4d1b9be6088d.pdf

I don't know much about the speakers since I just bought em off craigslist for $15 but they sound nice and clean. Maybe a little light on the bass, but I'm only using them for my bedroom so it's perfect.

what the hell is that

good speakers
a dac might give you a small improvement in sound clarity and imaging

Is the Schiit Modi 3 a good option? Anything with comparable value for less money out there?

audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/budget-dac-review-schiit-modi-2-99.1649/

This site has a list of many devices. Some of the less expensive topping and smsl products are pretty good, though reliability is a concern.

Attached: 361A5826_20170811094400.jpg (500x500, 18K)

Hmm, looks like I'll need to do more research. Yeah I was looking at Topping DX3 Pro and the reviews of the sound quality are unanimous but the build quality is questionable like you said.

if its cheap enough the replacement cost is still cheaper than a single expensive unit
