Got a kine paperwhite
It works but I wish it was 8"

yeah, the new paperwrite.

Likebook Mars. Nothing else is good

I dont think the new paperwhite has adjustible screen color temperature. Only the oasis has it.
Its a major feature.
I have paperwhite but will getting kobo next, because kindle is just to limited and dont even have features like this.

I was eyeing the Likebooks. They seemed great for me on a first impression, and the note taking capability of the Muses model really interested me, but I've been too often reading they are somewhat unreliable and laggy. Not exactly what I'd expect for a $300 device.

really just depends on what you do with it. I bet user reviews complaining about lag were trying to browse the web on it or some shit since it's an Android device

I have a Paperwhite 2 and it literally does everything I want it to, read a bunch of books on a small tablet like surface with less eye strain than a screen. Not sure what extra features you're looking for but what I have works fine for what it's made for. Haven't ran into any issues and battery lasts a long time.

you got a point there mate

how does it handle pirated epubs? my kobo doesn't complain.

Only boomers and diabetic millenials use ebook readers

If it isn't connected to wifi then how could there possibly be a problem?

Disable the backlight so it's more like a natural book. Why would temperature matter in that case?

I dont know, it wouldnt I guess.
I never fully disable backlight, a warm yellow/orange color is so much better than cold blue of paperwhite.

if the epub has drm you have to strip it and convert to the propietary azw format because kindle doesn't support epubs.

i have a gen 4 kindle that's pretty good

Yes, get a Likebook Mars

Text looks far to small to comfortably read.

But it's almost the same size as print.

I got a kobo glo. so far I'm satisfied. also the backlight is not lighting from the back, rather the led was projecting from the sides (they act like that reading lamp). it feels easy on the eyes, and the battery lasts for weeks. best purchase I have so far.

that's kinda neat

I WANT BUTTONS TO TURN THE PAGES NOT THIS TOUCHSCREEN BULLSHIT

Just get a Kindle 3, I wish there was something that had lockable folders, I would use for porn. But I don't want people looking through my shit!

Voyage, Oasis

Kobo Forma (8") or Oasis (7")

This is an absolutely necessary feature. Touchscreens are garbage when reading.

Been wanting an e-reader for a whilw but I'm too neurotically indecisive about shit. I see the paperwhite rec'd but I'm kinda offput by the lack of epub support, is it really as easy as converting stuff with calibre or is my reader gonna get locked for non amazon officially purchased books or something retarded. As well, is it worth full price for the new ones or should i only buy an older gen for cheaper?

conversion is pretty easy but sometimes the formatting gets fucked but that might also just because i didn't really bother to look into the options

i use a paperwhite myself and i pretty much only read non amazon stuff

Why are there not any chinkshit alternatives?
$200+ for a shitty tablet is pretty shit.

Try PocketBook readers. Almost all of them have comfortable buttons.

I got one but I don't know what books to read.

They read from scrolls, e-ink cannot scroll good

I have a Kobo Aura H2O (edition 2). So far it's pretty good, I don't really have any complaints. In the past I had a different Kobo, which was pretty good as well. I can't really compare it to any Kindles, but having also used an ancient sony e-reader I can say it's a lot better, even with the sony having hardware buttons.

My kobo has an adjustable backlight, in color and intensity. It's pretty nice, especially at night where it will change from white to orange light.

would it be better to get a new paperwhite or save some money and get a refurbed 7th gen paperwhite

Are there custom Roms for devices like the kindle paperwhite 2?
Im very pleased with it but I dont like the ads on the start screen for example.

kobo + koreader

What? You think regular books and notebooks exist only in america?
What's next? Chink don't drink coke?

kobobro

I use kobo touch, not as fast as modern smartphone. I am satisfied considering I buy it used for only 20$

OK I used my iPad for a while but people are telling me even that screen is bad? It's 11 inches so I was hoping that it wouldn't cause eye strain.

In any case I bought actual books yesterday so there's no issue.

>bought actual books

They still sell those? But they stink

karl marx - the communist manifesto

will probably be a new flagship kindle later this year, hoping that will be good.

There won't be any new kindles this year, al three of them had been renewed.
