Not using an i7, i9, or AMD equivalent

>not using an i7, i9, or AMD equivalent

why purposely hold yourself back like this?

what's Intel's equivalent to the threadripper 2990wx?

dont need em
my i3-4130 and ryzen 2600x are more than enough for what I so

Xeon 8180 probably

This is a videogame I play and enjoy. I'd be fine with a Pentium III.

what actually do you need a good cpu for?

>Friendly Merchants sunk

Good goy

fast video editing and rendering, but it wont make you better at it

I bought a shitbox for $235. Am I getting memed on?
>i5-8400
>8gb DDR4
>3TB 7500 HDD
>CD/DVD drive/writer
>Intel UHD Graphics 630
I'll throw another 8gb of RAM into it and call it a day.

Pretty good if you're not gaming. Would be a lot better with an SSD though.

>SSD
I thought about that, but I'm in no rush. I figure I'll wait for the next big holiday/sale event or something. Due to certain logistics, I'm waiting for my actual peak performance gaymin unit to arrive a month out (after relocating) and so I'm using this for now. I'm going to turn it into a media server down the road. Got recs for SSDs?

Can shitpost just fine with two cores, bud.

This. It's why I bought the 1700x coming from an i5-6500

Just started rendering something actually.

I'm a poorfag using a $300 lenovo that has an AMD a4 processor than gets 20 fps on league of legends

>he uses two digit processes
what year is this?

i5-6500 to r7 1700x, did you notice an improvement in general usability? i.e alt tabbing in games, fps, browsing, opening productivity programs etc?

i'm currently on i7 3770 and an r5 2600 is compelling, but r5 3600 sees even higher fps in games

I use an Intel Core i7 920 overclocked to 4.2 GHz. It's from 2008 and performs worse than many i5 processors. Does it count?

I couldn't tell you regarding gayming because I don't do very much of it, I just switched because I knew the render times would be much faster with the 1700x and I have not been disappointed. General usability is a lot better when it comes to multitasking, like when I would render a 1080p video on my 6500 the CPU usage would be 100% and I couldnt listen to music without it cutting out and shit, and other things became noticeably slower. But with the 1700x, rendering 1080p only brings the CPU usage to around 80-90% and I can still do whatever I want in the background without problems. If you do a lot of multitasking or multithreaded applications (games usually only utilize like 4 threads at most depending on the game I believe), get a Ryzen CPU.

needs a GTX 1660

>65nm
HAHAHAHAHAH

>2.00 GHz

the main desktop computer uses an
>Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00 Ghz 65 nm
>4 GB DDR3 RAM 1333 Mhz
>150 GB Samsung Spinpoint F1 HDD 7200 RPM (OS drive)
>320 GB Seagate Momentus Thin HDD 5400 RPM (Secondary storage/backup)
>PNY Nvidia GeForce GT 710 2GB DDR3 28 nm

45 nm*

Interesting, thanks. Might take the plunge on just an r5 2600, saves me 50-100usd as opposed to an r5 3600, truthfully I don't need the upgrade in the first place but I feel outdated and want to catch up even a little

I have 6700k and I see no reason to upgrade

I like small builds that don't take up much space/power, and I don't want to be tempted into spending too much time on games

Where are you buying it from and how much is it? Do you live near a Microcenter? That's where I got my 1700x in June.

i just sold mine. Its an absolute bucket.

Meh, my most demanding task is gaming so my 8600k will do fine for the time being.

Streamerfags must die.

Ahahaha dude come one you can get an apu that can run better that this laptop

I too have an i7 3770 and will soon make a build with it. What performance do you get? What GPU have you paired it with? How does it hold up today?(not rendering, mainly gaming)

>inb4 no, unfortunately i can't go for newer hardware.

Because #neverobsolete.

Attached: Core_i5-2500K_vs_Core_i5-8600K_intro_770-4.jpg (770x547, 137K)

And what did you upgrade to? I see nothing worth while

sandy bridge was peak intel
then they decided to become retarded

>AMD equivalent
so R7, R9...

Just buy a chink ssd for the OS. I generally just buy the cheapest one off taobao that's 120gb which costs close to $19 local bucks which should be like 16 in usamoney. Biostar ssds haven't been giving me issues although I torrent and seed off them. HP apparently makes some too.

What the fuck is your ram timings
18-23-23-43

Spending extra money on something I will never utilize is actually what would hold myself back.

the CPU and RAM alone cost more than that where I live so you did fine

because they are not much of an improvement over my q6600

>4c4t
sorry bud intel2500k is obsolete for a while now

because this 7600k was $150 and its better than any processor AMD has sold for the same price point on every metric but core count and by the time 4 cores isn't enough to run modern software its going to be time for a new processor and ram generation anyways

His surname translated to Polish is literally to fumble or cobble together.

its not obsolete in the same way that old x86 became obsolete after 10 years in that it can at least run modern software admirably but the 40% performance gap between sandy bridge and kaby lake is large enough that its basically on the same performance level of a modern pentium. its hardly bad but its also not worth bragging about

Yeah, I don't want people squirting zombie loads into my system, so Intel isn't even a choice.

>Buys an expensive CPU
>Buys an expensive GPU
>Buys a higher end SSD
>Cheaps out on RAM
Dumb nigger you either go all high end or not. You're gimping your system with that shit RAM

>3900x
This shit is sold out everywhere!

>Rtw2
W&B

Yes, Intel being shit is absolutely caused by a 2,5% reduction in R&D spending (which was still more than the previous year) and absolutely not because got lazy and were milking their customers since 2012.
