Want help? >State budget & CURRENCY >Post at least some attempt at a parts list >List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work >For monitors, include purpose (e.g., photoediting, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)
CPUs based on current pricing >Athlon 200GE - HTPC, web browsing, bare minimum gaming (can be OC'd on most mobos with the right BIOS) >R3 2200G - Minimum 30-60fps gaming. The stronger 3400G sells for $150. (R3K APUs OCs better than R2K) >R5 2600 - 60fps+ gaming CPU with great value >R5 3600 - Great gaming CPU >R7 3700X - Overkill gaming CPU >R7 1700X - Budget video editing >R9 3900X - Professional tasks
RAM >Do not use a single DIMM. 2 sticks for a typical dual channel CPU >CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 3200CL16 or Micron E-die ("AES" in P/N) recommended >AMD B & X chipsets and Intel Z chipsets support XMP >B-die is EOL, stock is limited
GPUs based on current pricing 1080p >RX 570/580 8GB - Can be found on sale/used for cheap. Look for 570s which are >1240MHz boost >(GTX 1660TI @ ~$230/Vega56 @ ~$270) - higher fps / more demanding games >RX 5700 - higher FPS 1440p >RX 5700 - standard, 75-100FPS+ >RX 5700XT - higher fps 2160p (4K) >RTX 2070S OC - budget option. Turing scales better into 4K than Navi does. OR upscale from lower resolution with RIS >2080Ti - best for 4K but expensive
>Navi AIB models come mid-August. 5700 non-XT blower is alright, due to low power.
General >Yes, adaptive sync (free/g/sync) is important for gaming >NVMe isn't better than SATA SSD for gaming >Don't use Speccy >Don't trust sites which rank CPUs by arbitrary, obfuscated scores (eg userbenchmark, passmark, cpuboss) >AM4 VRMs + Monitors + SSD Guide under "more"
>16GB of RAM? How are you going to avoid dipping into pagefile with 32GB? You should absolutely consider getting 64GB.
Kayden Turner
Corsair does not "make" PSUs. It rebrands them from OEMs and sells them under their own name. Since some time ago, Corsair switched from Seasonic to Super Flower as their PSU manufacturer, your PSU may be very likely be manufactured by Seasonic.
Tyler Bell
128gb or bust
William Richardson
>3900x doesn't fucking exist anywhere new time-line please
Blake Brooks
Okay so what's the equivalent of Corsair SF ITX Series?
Gabriel Flores
Just KILLED my mobo because i tried to overclock with amd. AMA
Justin Davis
they seem to be made by Great Wall and are pretty good
Why is this 3600 MHz CL17 RAM so cheap? Is there a catch?
Gavin Thompson
Because it's just hynix ICs, nothing special. Probably better off clocking it to 3600c16
Leo Perez
Should I rather go with 3200 CL14 or 3600 CL18 Samsung b-die?
Eli Sullivan
Why? I'm thinking of buying the RMX 850W.
Charles Hughes
Buy seasonic
Carson Richardson
Bought a Metropolitan Vacuum DataVac Electric Duster 500 on sale for 60$ new. Best investment I've made for my PC in a while.
William Martinez
>patriot here's your catch
Henry Williams
I'm using two sticks of RAM. If I need more in the future and populate all 4 RAM slots, will the performance hit from not being able to use dual channel be noticeable?
Christian Foster
Ok /pcbg/, what's the best manufacturer for each product? >Case ? >Fans Noctua. >CPU Cooler Also Noctua >CPU AMD atm >Mobo MSI? >Memory ? >HD WD? >SSD Samsung. >GPU NVidia - MSI/Zotac? AMD - ? >PSU ?
I've seen 3600CL17 for $110 a few times, so that's not that much cheaper. Go for it. I wouldn't get b-die for Zen2. Not worth the cost unless you're doing an extreme high end build. 3600CL18/CL17 performance is really good as it is and you heavily go into diminishing returns after that.
Wtf do you need 850W for? 3600+5700 only needs 400W. Why are you buying housefire components?
Where at?
lmao only on their high end models.
You won't be able to clock them as high as you can clock 2 DIMMs.
Jose Fisher
>lmao only on their high end models. So the argument isn't "don't buy Corsair" but rather "avoid cheap quality shit" which applies to everything.
I understand your frustration I've considered making my own case. because they're cheap and have HBM a technology that should be utilized more in the future. >SSD XPG >GPU budget AMD until next year disregarding manufacturer. I anticipate some major competition soon. >PSU Corsair RM series uses audiophile grade caps made in Japan, very clean power, also very efficient
>because they're cheap and have HBM a technology that should be utilized more in the future. They may be relatively cheap, but never in my life did I need to trouble shoot and RMA for weeks and weeks.
Samuel Cruz
i just cut holes in my case, i got a bequiet pos that only had 2, i just made template and took my ultrasonic cutter to it.
Daniel Clark
I just want 4 HDD's and a couple of SSD's A 5.25 card reader and a physical fan controller
24 :^) > never in my life did I need to trouble shoot and RMA for weeks and weeks. alright so what's the problem yes, apparently. what RAID configuration are opting for?
Levi Nguyen
16GB is enough right now and for the foreseeable future.
If you have the budget and want to use your built without upgrading for a long time you can go 32GB now, but you should be aware that you are not going to have any substantial benefit from those extra 16GB in the short-term.
If your budget is not that high you are better off spending that extra money on a better CPU/GPU that will actually benefit you right away.
Evan Walker
any 5700 non xt owners here? are you having any issues. Ive been reading reports of green tinting, crashes and artifacting.
Grayson Morris
>alright so what's the problem when there is a medium-high load on the gpu the entire system hardlocks. Thats the current one, the previous one had artifacting after a while in games.
Colton Sanchez
>why the fuck do cases have no 5.25 bays anymore? because cd and dvd are obsolete
Angel Bennett
>6-10 HDDs You trying to do a full backup of sadpanda or sth?
Camden Collins
You sure about Corsair PSUs? They are always trashed here, and seasonic being jizzed over every time they're mentioned.
Jayden Gonzalez
a lot of the Vegas I saw looked like they were cheaply made for bitcoin miners. it's important to be discerning sometimes. false this might be of interest I've heard of them being faulty online as well, but the rm750x I'm running now that I got for $60 or so refurbished is great. I'm only pushing it to ~70% of its rated wattage though.
I got the rm750x as well in my new build. Haven't been able to test it because my 3900 isn't here yet. Good to hear it's a good buy.
Jason Thompson
if you really need a optical drive, you always have the possibility of usb connected optic drive i've never used my own optical drive for the last 8 years
Robert Jones
>Case Fractal Design / Lian-Li >Mobo depends on use case. Gigabyte should generally be avoided though >Memory Crucial / G.Skill >HDD WD / HGST >GPU Nvidia - EVGA / Zotac AMD - PowerColor / Sapphire >PSU SeaSonic / Super Flower
Kevin Butler
Looking to stream using a 1440p 144hz monitor (1080p output)
Best cpu and gpu for this? I'm thinking 3700x and 5700xt
Michael Smith
please respond
Oliver Anderson
>a lot of the Vegas I saw looked like they were cheaply made for bitcoin miners. it's important to be discerning sometimes. Nitro and pulse are cheaply made? Then again maybe they are slapping on used vega dies on them or something.
Levi Smith
Corsair uses a bunch of different OEMs, their high-end units are actually quite good but stuff like the old CX series was trash compared to something like Seasonic's budget units.
Jacob Miller
ye I just realized hasn't got one, the full tower variant has two tho on occasion I buy used CDs or DVDs that's the only real use it sees though Sapphire has a lot of hype behind them, when it works hey great but otherwise there isn't anything to be done. same with MSI. I've heard people go on about the experience of MSI failing on them, but my MSI motherboard works swimmingly other than a few quirks.
Daniel Lewis
I got a Galax/KFA2 2070 Super. Please tell me I don't dun goofed and they're a reputable brand. I don't upgrade often and I'd like my components to last me 5 years at least.
Joshua Morgan
>Galax literally who?
Carson Lee
This is good to know. I see that user always making "don't buy Corsair PSUs" comments without any reason. Good to finally understand he means low end ones.
>when it works hey great but otherwise there isn't anything to be done. what do you mean?
Ryan Turner
Pretty sure anything they also make an "i" version of is considered high-end.
Jack Morgan
BROS NO POST, NO BEEP. WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED
Jayden Russell
the fuck is raid?
Jonathan Martin
Fan spin? Lights?
Christopher Jackson
They're a multimillion dollar company producing for an abstracted consumer. They don't have a personal relationship with you, they aren't your neighbor, and in the end they're assembling technologies that aren't patently their own. some degree of misconstruction is to be anticipated. redundant array of inexpensive discs if you're going for capacity and you've got 4 HDDs either you're running a datacenter or you're doing it wrong and could have just gone with 1-2 with larger individual capacities.
Adam Perry
r8 my shopping list Reusing drives and case so they're not listed here.
If I took the OP image and added in "Boba FET" and posted it to reddit how many upvotes would I get? I need a cost/benefit analysis of spending 30 seconds in paint.
