>still no good DE available
What went so wrong?

Define 'good'.

you haven't made it yet.

what is KDE

ok show me how can I set a window on top for example a video and make it borderless (no decoration), show me how I can set up and use a virtual desktop system because MS's look like a cheap knockoff of Gnome, show me how to do a keyboard search over application menus (HUD), show me how to assign window shortcuts on the fly to get greater multitasking, if you can't then fuck off you dirty street shitter, you are worse than rats.

Shit.

like what you find in all of your streets?

Sorry, I don't live in California.

XFCE is the best DE
MATE is good too
Generally speaking window managers are where it's at. I use Window Maker, but there's a lot of good shit out there with radically different approaches like
fluxbox
blackbox
i3
icewm
jwm
dwm
fvwm
etc.
Now please, tell me how all of these very functional alternatives are "bad" when shit like WindowMaker, a literal 1990s window manager has more features out of the box than Windows explorer has ever had.

>what is mate
fag

The best one around for a developer, is Ubuntu Mate's Netbook mode.

Why?
>integrated terminal on F12 (tilde)
>Everything, including window menus, is integrated on the top bar, maximizing vertical screen space, and giving total horizontal space.
>A minimalist HUD, the best tertiary developer tool ever created
Ive never been happier. Its even better than Unity 7.

we know you don't, Rankesh

Gnome's fine. Many DEs ship with it by default.

Wait for xfce 4.14

Window Maker.

>windows is fine
>many acer computers ship with it by default

As if Acer computers are fine.

>HUD, the best tertiary developer tool ever created
this, there is simply nothing that can compete

Imagine using gimp without hud.
Also, visual studio on linux...?

How long has that been a thing?
Is it cozy?
Does it support vim?
I do all my c++ programming on QtCreator, but I'd be tempted to try VisualStudio, just to see what all the fuss is about.

>using a DE

bloat

I prefer LXDE over XFCE. The gtk version of PCManFM is my favorite file manager. LXQt is shit until PCManFM-Qt gets dual pane

I prefer IceWM or OpenBox with no DE. All the other WMs you listed are good too. OP just doesnt get it

It's VS code, basically atom done right, vim support is ok, it's good for C++ provided you have the right extensions, I use it for Haskell, Python, Vue and C++

The whole Gnu environment IS a very good DE.
Just not an IDE like you Microsoft retards are used to.
Learn to use the command line, brainlets.

Why would you need a DE for a server OS
:^)

Do you use anything else? Or does it solve all your needs?

based. I use SpaceFM which is PCmanFM with more shit.

Install a wm and configure your own DE.
