What are some non-autistic reasons to have more than one monitor?
What are some non-autistic reasons to have more than one monitor?
You want to see more stuff.
work. there's literally no other reason other than pure autism.
Vidya on one side YouTube/Netflix (or whatever) on the other side
coding in one screen.
Seeing the result in the second screen.
manipulating many documents at the same time. example:
one is with a set of things to be done
one is your source (what you actually work on)
one is your output
one is something you compare the output against
they don't all fit in one screen
only if you are Prothean
Work. I need atleast two, and I would not say no to a 3th. But more is very niche and pointless for 99.9% of people.
Sysadmins. Gaymers. Dedicated vertical shitposting/manga reading monitor.
Financial trading.
If your autism has gotten that bad that you need to consume two things at the same time, reevaluate your life.
I can't even imagine working with only one monitor now.
One for your research, one for writing about it and third to google for problems.
To view yo momma's fat ass
Reading scans.
it looks cool
>one screen for code and terminals
>other for looking at the result, documentation, chat, jira and other work bullshit
I dont want to constantly switch tabs if I'm doing homework with spotify or need something to reference while doing a task. Also to watch anime
More space gives me peace of mind. If it's not worth the extra monitor then good on you
There are studies showing that more screen real estate has a beneficial effect on productivity.
we get it, you're poor
i have a big 16:10 at work but like my two shitty 21 inchers at home more
web dev?
Nigger gon nig
multiple pairs of eyes
the /v/ response would be full screen game on one monitor, chat applications and browser on the second
Watching movies/TV while doing anything else
I don't get the faggots who like having multiple monitors for movies or gayming, these are things that require maximum focus. I have 4 monitors for work (compositing) but always turn off the other 3 when I play some game or watch film
Background noise
Fapping to a dozen videos of girls fucking their assholes with a dildo at the same time.
Oh, what are these cute keyboardlets on the side? I keep trying to find inspiration in these threads for my work as a law clerk. A dedicated NumPad is the height of my emotions.
I use one for coding and the other for reference docs. It helps me not lose my place.
Those are Iris keyboard.
I have an inverted numpad programmed as one of the layers.
Do recommend.
keeb.io
why are you gay
what if someone is good at multi-tasking - it's not a need but the sheer ability to be able to do or intake one thing while something else is also being handled
Youtube on one screen.
Games on one.
Porn on the other. +Jow Forums
>3 screens
>4 tabs playing video per screen
>ASMR ear licking as the background noise
Excellent.
screens -
one : reference library or related code, documentation, git log, etc
two : file I'm working on
three : build and/or [unit] test screen, or debug log
four : email, skype, etc for talking w team or clients. I also have music, video, and fuck around on Jow Forums or whatever on this screen.
I have a friend that plays games w two screens. he puts his game on one, and teamspeak or discord or whatever he uses for chat on the second screen, as well as internet on second screen. Another friend I have does data analysis and has the database & queries on one screen, tv/movie on second screen.
> ASMR ear licking as background noise
you forgot to mention your dog trained to lick in synchronization with the video for maximum pleasure and emulation of female companionship
also, screen one and two are vertical, screen three and four are horizontal. this was just an example application setup. it's pretty useful though. back when I was doing day trading I had 7 monitors, being able to compare charts, data, news, messages, etc with only a glance of an eye is imo the difference between getting overwhelmed and confused and being able to actually get a big picture from all the information.
I cannot imagine a better reason to have such a setup at home.
To be honest working from home is a very good reason for a dual monitor setup.
>Left monitor
Terminals. Also hooked up to a KVM switch to build machine/server. FTP client underneath that
>Middle monitor
Code editors
>Right monitor
Result, browser, music, reference/documentation
eyes are faster than mouse.
>game/video(1)
>video(2)
>video(3)
>chat for each video
>system monitor
>sound mixer (for multiple audio streams)
Vertical monitor for coding
Horizontal monitor for email/music/internet
If you got a real job you'd know why this is a dumb question.
Single monitor with dwm/WindowFinder/Switcheroo is definitely better for me, I got neck strain with two monitors
>source
LaTeX editing is a legit use case but a single wide monitor would do the same thing.
Why not just get an ultrawide?
Doesn't even have to be high-end. Just having a 21:9 is nice for split screen into a 16:9-ish window with a 5:9-ish space for a document on the side.
And if you're a gay-mer the additional immersion is pretty nice.
Main screen for work.
Secondary screen for log/errors.
That way when something unexpected happens you catch it in the corner of your eye but you still have a full screen to work on.
it's nice to have separate monitors for different tasks
I have one monitor to do work on and use the second one to display pornography while i am working
Watching something live and chatting about it on the other screen more comfortably. Especially stuff meant for live viewing like sports.
blessed post number and comment
>Game on 1 monitor
>Monitoring GPU, CPU, RAM, Voltages, Temps and all else needed
What if concentrating at one thing is not enough and drives me crazy?
I can do both because I am no mouth breather
Three is the sweet spot for sure.
Having more than 2 monitors will kill your neck. Have one monitor slightly below eye level and have another directly above it.
Trust me, having 4 monitors will kill your neck in no time.
still waiting.
what is that Dark Souls Remastered page?
Finished it for the first time yesterday
2 is enough indeed, maybe a 3rd one in vertical for reading or browse threads here
ProtonDB
thanks, will check later
Can you help me a little? I have all 3 Dark Souls games on my Ubuntu's Steam, activated Proton, Dark Souls 2 sotFS and DS3 run perfectly but DSR crashes at start
why everyone but me can play it? They use Mint unlike me
Someone told me to install vcrun2007 but it changed fuck all using winetricks
Sorry to tell you I was just investigating at that point and haven't actually tried it. I'm probably going to be installing Win10 on one of my machines soon anyway for VR.
captcha is being a faggot
watching multiple news livestreams during habbenings
multi-5:4, beautiful but too many
Too bad, thanks anyway
I fucking want DS1 to run so I can sell my Xbox 360
Why the fuck would you do that? I have two monitors right next to eachother. I do whatever on my main monitor, and then text chats or voice clients or literally anything else that I want to be able to glance at I have in my second monitor.
I couldnt go back to one monitor desu.
>(thinpad + ultrabase) + external ips monitor
checkmate fa/g/ots
Makes more sense to me to have one big monitor for your desktop with a laptop as a secondary.
Multimonitor made sense in the days when 1280x1024 monitors were cheap and anything bigger was drastically more expensive, but now you can get one big 4k monitor for not a lot.
It's easier to move your eyes sideway than up and down like using a big monitor, and tiling shit is a pain in the ass.
I like to be able to full screen a video whille still having working space.
this
>but now you can get one big 4k monitor for not a lot.
My father literally just bought a 4k curved 55" tv to use as a primary monitor and still has two smaller ones on each side. It's so goddamn ridiculous looking, but he actually does need it for work.
Dual monitor is ok. (Input/Output)
Three is the limit of reasonable.
4+ , unless your job really needs it (calibrating them?Surveillance?), it's just to show off.
Large workspace but maintaining high PPI.
This.
Not trying to hijack thread, but, anyone has experience on ultra wide monitor vs 2 monitors?
I'm thinking to get ultra wide instead of 2
I would assume running programs in fullscreen would be a nigger
I do embedded systems programming / PCB design and it's super useful to have documentation on one screen and code / an EDA program on the other
2 is good enough for me I mostly one the second one when there are happenings or I'm doing something that requires 4 programs or more and porn of course.
Yeah, a minor issue, because I don't play much
So far pros over 2 monitors, I assume (never used ultra wide):
- less head movements
- consistency (unless both monitors are same)
- no gap
- opened windows are closer
Cons:
- can't pivot half of monitor
- good ultra wide is more expensive than 2 1440p monitors (not an issue in my case, but still)
Anything to add?
What does he do?
I used to do PACS and this brought back memories.
>wh*te skin
Disgusting.
docs/output on one screen, editor on another
get two same model monitors, it's a no brainer
>video playback sucks on ultra-wide
>can't change setup if you ever feel like it
>it's a meme
>more expensive
the only advantage I can think of is using only one port
Any recommendations? I was wondering to get infos-hardware.com
- good colors
- ~108 PPI
- 120 Hz
Any 1440p monitor equivalent?
