Windows 2000 and NT4 are dope.

Got a dual socket PIII mobo.
Thinking of doing a win2000 build.

I picked up a few Gateway laptops with Pentium ii processors today. Should I install 9x, or 2k? I was also considering installing Debian, and using a simple WM or something like that.

Linux w/ Openbox and tint2 or W2kPro or NT4

NT on a PII laptop seems sketchy. I would install 9x, but just as a toy.

ME is underrated. I actually use win98SE some ME kernel extensions

I fucking died.
Windows 10 users in a nutshell.

I think I'll go with Debian, and maybe try 9x with kex's later. Are there any browsers available for gnu/linugs that don't have an SSE requirement? That will likely be my biggest hangup, along with KMS.

Going from 9x to 2k was the biggest OS leap I've experienced. 9x was such a pos and then 2k was everything 9x wasn't. I remember reinstalling 2k because I felt it was superior to xp. I still feel 2k is their best OS and they should scrap everything, go back to 2k and reiterate from there.

Was so awesome in its day, ahead of the curve for its day, and amazingly low on RAM despite the impressive streamlined flow and feel.

Good luck running games

Thank you for taking my bait

ME was a dumpster fire that drove me into linux in 2002.

>tfw ME was more pleasant to use than pre-SP2 XP

2k or debian (its one of the very few modern distros that support non-PAE processors)

Hell you can even dual boot if it has a big enough HDD.
