Presuming the 12v battery on the boat is recharged by an alternator connected to an engine, I'd make sure that the 12v you're hooking the LEDs to is regulated properly.
Them alternators charge at around 14V ish, plus there's a lot of noise, without a proper regulator you could blow the LEDs.

If you're using it as lighting for lighting purposes instead of just decoration you're going to want pay attention to the size of the leds and the chips per strip

Batteries are the same as car batteries, they usually output 14v/15v when fully charged, others have used them without any issues, but the threat still remains, what would you recommend?

I solder two wires (red, black) to the LED strip and use terminal blocks to connect the strips to the light fitting. (i forgot to mention that this a retro fit)

Look up spec sheet of LEDs and if 15V is too high, get a voltage regulator. Cheapest solution is just (power) resistors. Calculate the current you want to draw, then use U = R * I to calculate the resistor you need to drop 2-3V.

It's from TCXRE Hifi store, second most ordered when searching for TPA3116D2.
The noise might be the gain that's too high, look into the datasheet for the chip to see specific gain values or straight-up remove the resistor to get the minimum of 20dB gain. Could also be a dirty power supply, but I'm not sure how to fix that other than replacing it.
