Why the FUCK are 4 TB SSDs still $500?

why the FUCK are 4 TB SSDs still $500?

Attached: xC9PbiPqQGLA7HFk7pYQ2j[1].jpg (1920x1080, 691K)

Because retards are still buying them at that price.

its more that gaymers are not buying anything below or above 250gb

Because if a customer is in the market for a 4 TB SSD, why wouldn't they charge them $500?

remember when TLC NAND was supposed to increase storage and lower prices but didn't until years later

Did you really think the storage Jew would let you have cheap, big, fast and reliable storage?

not soon, but eventually

>why the FUCK are 4 TB SSDs still $500?
((take a guess))

Yes, but it will be garbage QLC.
The good stuff will remain expensive forever

What do you need a 4TB SSD for?

t. gaymer
kys cancer

Pretty much the opposite, keep dilating faggot.

>mobilefag
even worse

Projection is reaching critical levels.
Still haven't answered why you need that.

To store porn, are you literally braindead?

No, but it seems you weren't that lucky.

>porn
>music
>videos/movies
>sample libraries
>project storage
literally any of that quickly exceeds 1tb

Because going to the upper limit of what capacities are available is always going to be expensive compared to lower capacity drives
512GB Sandisk Extreme microSD card = $0.29 per GB
1TB Sandisk Extreme microSD card = $0.412 per GB
14TB Seagate Ironwolf = $35 per TB
12TB Seagate Ironwolf = $28 per TB

I just got a 1tb QVO for our email server at our company
I would have got a 4tb but they're too expensive

are they good? was looking to get one too but not sure if a 860 would be better

Thanks for proving my point.

Poorfags will never understand such things because they are in a constant butthurt state. Can't wait for the Great Culling to start so that we richfags don't have all this useless breeders around.

Signed: Illuminati member

>music quickly exceeds 1tb
use opus

I have a 500gb EVO and a 1tb QVO on the same server, I've did several hours of benches and there's barely a difference. The only difference is if you write 20GB in 1-go then it slows down on the QVO but read speed saw no difference even reading 100GB of data
If you want any commands ran (on linux) like a hddparm bench let me know I can run it and screen shot it here

Attached: file.png (597x377, 42K)

>but read speed saw no difference even reading 100GB of data
that's good, since it will be mostly using reading, going to have to copy huge chunks of data tho first (usually 20-70gb chunks)

Yea it's barely any difference it isn't noticeable at all unless you're trying to do tasks to make it noticeable lmao.

>putting this stuff on an ssd
retard alert, ssd is for os, vital programs and slightly important programs
the rest will see no difference on an hdd

>ITT: impatience retards who don't know how good they have it.

4TiB SSDs used to command $999+ and above a year ago, yet idiots still are bitching at $499. SHM

why don't image thumbnails generate significantly faster on an ssd compared to hdd?

>the rest will see no difference on an hdd
absolutely wrong
specially working with audio/video

Outside of professional/prosumer setting, it is kinda hard to justify getting a 4TiB SSD

ikr i can't wait to RAID up a few of those

Attached: 1482976521169.jpg (584x550, 37K)

Not many people buy them, that's why.
>tfw just want a cheap smol 30tb all flash NAS

Depends on what you're using but chances are you are cucked by CPU speed or whatever it is that is generating the thumbnails.

>retard alert, ssd is for os, vital programs and slightly important programs
SSDs are for storage, just like HDDs.

>1tb QVO
>qlc write speeds 80mb/s
Fucking hell thats a shitty tradeoff.

are retards itt actually thinking about using ssds like hdds? and complaining that it's too expensive? are you fucking retarded?

either retards or poorfags

>2019
>falling for the non-rotating storage jew

ssds are almost at the point to where they are more preferable than hdds. Not really surprising if people want to use them as hdds now.

use a HDD for that since none of that needs fast read or write speeds
HDDs are for storage and backup for things you want to keep and can't lose
SSDs are for operating system and other software like your programs that benefit from the speeds and that you don't have to worry about losing
maybe if you're currently working on something like encoding or doing a lot of work in something, but once it's done you move it off to your HDD for storage
this but you'd still store your anime, artbook, movie, music etc. collection on your HDD and use the SSD for stuff you're working on
and you're fucking retarded, SSDs are not ideal for storage

I want cheap, slow and large SSDs and smaller way faster SSDs with clear labeling. I want to know what ends up writing at 10 year old HDDs speeds after a few GB.

>HDDs are for storage and backup for things you want to keep and can't lose
No. That's what backups are for.

and what do you backup things onto?

>and you're fucking retarded, SSDs are not ideal for storage
Read that back to yourself then immediately commit sudoku

Other storage mediums? What kind of question is this.

>What kind of question is this.

what other storage mediums user?

Tape, BR, cloud, HDD, flash whatever the fuck you want.

>SSDs don't store things
?????????

Because W10 file explorer is garbage.
Mine regularly breaks while trying to generate thumbnails and I get the infinite green loading bar at the top of the window that only an OS shutdown can fix.

>since none of that needs fast read or write speeds
>samples libraries
>project storage
have fun making music while cramping you're wav tracks and samples from a hdd

porn, movies, anime, artbooks, music, hentai etc. collections do not need fast read or write speeds unless they are part of a project
if you are making music, then yes, use an SSD while you're doing that, but after it's all finished and all you need to do is store it or play it, an HDD is ideal for that
you don't need your porn stored on your SSD, and SSDs aren't as good at long-term storage
how hard is this to understand? they aren't objectively better, they're different

the jews and their new technology

Attached: capture.png (896x983, 266K)

but i use xyplorer

if you can afford a qvo then you're better off with a crucial MX500

why are these so popular (i assume they're only cheap because they're popular) when 120 GB only makes sense for a server (which normies know nothing about)

Unironicly this

>since none of that needs fast read
you are just simply wrong
>but after it's all finished and all you need to do is store it or play it, an HDD is ideal for that
I think you don't know what samples libraries are or what they do and how they work
was having my eyes on it, don't know how reliable they are though and I don't want to install a shitty software for each manufacturer

>when 120 GB only makes sense for a server
Because you don't need more than 120GB if you're just running the OS and a few applications on it.

but can anons really blame DA JOOS when it's korean fags (e.g., samsung, sk hynix) who are producing/controlling all of the memory

you could throw one of those and some RAM into a $100 dell with sandy or ivy bridge and have a super usable system
I still use a 120GB boot drive (that I paid $250 for when it was new) and it's more than enough for a lot of people

120gb is acutally pretty neat and comfy if you
're not a gaymer and only run OS + Programs
Hell even 80gb would be enough for that
this, but I wish the smaller ones would be faster with cache instead of just being low end options

Well they're cheap because no one wants to buy them
Normies can't buy them for PlayStation 4 since 160GB is the minimum.
Windows Boot SSD with Secondary HDD for data is too hard for the average normie as well.
But if you're like it's fine, but don't buy any of the cheap brands listed in 's pic

the fuck am I going to wait 2 extra seconds for my other hard drive to finally scrape up my list of songs and navigate the folder

Yeah, I barely use any of its space.

>you are just simply wrong
okay, right sorry, this whole time my hentai has been on an HDD and I just made the switch and wow how could I have been so blind I didn't realize it made this much a difference, I will now start moving everything to my SSD, my TBs of anime, my porn and hentai, my movie collection, all of it. SSDs are so great for storage. they're not expensive to manufacture and they can be written to as much as I want and I just don't have to worry about it, how amazing!
>samples libraries
I wasn't talking about samples libraries, retard
jesus fuck you're stupid, I was talking about movies, anime, porn and music collections which you said exceed 1tb and that's why you need to store them on expensive 4TB SSDs
yes sample libraries belong on an ssd, saying HDDs are better for bulk and long-term storage isn't disputing that, so relax.
the point is that you use HDDs for bulk and long-term storage for things like movies and use SSDs for your OS, programs and project files

I put mine on VHS tapes

>I wasn't talking about samples libraries, retard
I was, retard, learn to properly read next time.

Huh?

>the storage Jew

Attached: images-23.jpg (118x114, 16K)

More like the ChinksN'GooksNAND cabal.

based autist pushing the idea that you need a hdd over ssd for storage.

I remember when I was looking for a boot drive last year because my HDD was starting to sound like a meat grinder and even a 250gb was still like $75. Picked up a Kingston SSD on sale a couple months ago for 20 bucks and a 1tb hybrid to replace the meat grinder for around 65. People really don't understand what it was like building a PC even a few years ago when SSDs at even at 120gb were over $100.

>People really don't understand what it was like building a PC even a few years ago when SSDs at even at 120gb were over $100.
where the fuck do you think you are?

because of the Trump tariffs

On a site surrounded by kids from reddit who never even played Crysis

I spent $130 on a Samsung 830 120GB SSD and was blown away by the difference of SSD to HDD. I remember constantly swapping games back and forth from HDD to SSD just for those sweet sweet load times.

Not I have a 2TB Samsung 860 EVO, 1TB 960 EVO NVME, and am waiting for 4TB 860 EVO drives to get down to sub $350. Damned kids don't know how good they have it.

>can’t afford $500

Attached: EFBCDF04-F7B6-4CEC-AF79-36C7E2455A9D.jpg (480x640, 34K)

no one ever mentions that you no longer need to worry about temperature and having additional fans with ssds

how the fuck did my game ssd health drop to 85% in less than a year

you still have to worry about max temps though. Like if you're in a tiny mITX case and your NVME is hitting 102C, it's not good.

I have that same ssd. It was Samsung's first reasonably priced high performance drive. Still have it running in a laptop to this day.

because of the price you retarf

you bought a garbage SSD that's how.
yup. Everything before that was unreliable garbage.

100gb is standard for games now, grandpa

>porn is first listed

Attached: ew.jpg (298x380, 45K)

shit games yes
0.1 -> 20gb are the better ones

I've noticed only AAA garbage seems to have insane installation sizes. There's so much fat that could be trimmed from the installs such as lossless audio for 50 languages you're not going to use as well as unused texture packs. For instance 4K uncompressed texture packs that are only active when you use them. They're stupidly large. There was a program that supposedly did exactly what I'm talking about. I can't remember its name though.

because you don't need that much space

>NEED
Fuck off commie cock sucker. You don't know me or my storage needs.

Prices are still falling. In two years they'll be ~$100.

because people are willing to pay

Attached: DrWG0lgU8AEpfjl.jpg (1280x720, 130K)

poorfag cope. Hitman is massive and a great game. TW:WH is massive and a great game

this is what fitgirl repacks do. they have selectable languages etc

except it didn't at all
the only cheap ones are QLC and honestly if you buy QLC crap you deserve to lose your data once you run out of your 150 writes

TLC and QLC are completely different. What kind of argument are you attempting to make here? And prices are indeed coming down. The Samsung 850 EVO 2TB was nearly $800 at launch while the 860 EVO 2TB was about $400 and can now be had for $280. Maybe not your definition of cheap, but prices are in fact coming down.

They will just said those Asians are honorary Jew and be done with it.

Outside of the mining craze, times have never been better for PC building.

You can put together a solid workhorse system within a $1,000 budget minus the monitor that do some gayming as long as you aren't to shoot for 4K/120FPS+ non-sense.

>1tb QVO
>email server
What the fuck kind of mickey mouse organization would even allow this
Are you working for Assclown IT Guy Inc?
I can't even imagine what kind of fucking disaster the rest of your infrastructure must look like
