My 286 does not have a network card though

oldest pc i own is a pentium III running windows 98SE i use for retro-games that don't like modern operating systems.

Specs are Pentium 3 coppermine 1ghz (133fsb)
512mb pc133 SDRAM
and an AGP geforce FX5500.

I know the graphics card doesn't quite match the era of the rest of the hardware, but buying AGP cards online is a shit shoot and most end up being DOA.

80186 @ 7.91 mhz, ms dos 5, working tcp/ip

Oldest ive posted off of was a 133mhz Cyrix M2 blacktop on a pcchips m599lmr with 384mb of pc100 and a 2mb s3 trio 64
Ran windows XP sp1, thing was a pain in the ass and the board died maybe a month after that.
Second oldest i can post with is a Thinkpad 380ED with a 166mhz Pentium MMX and 84mb of ram on Windows 98 SE
Third, that im posting from right now, is a Thinkpad G40 from 2003 with a 2.8ghz Pentium 4, 1gb of ram, integrated graphics on Windows XP SP2

Definitely not the oldest stuff but i dont think i have anything older besides an SGI Indy that i dont have a monitor for

Can't, I used an analogue modem to get my 486DX4 online.
If I can be bothered, I might dig out my AMD K6-2 when I get home - at least it has an Ethernet card.

I’d love to shitpost with my Athlon XP box, but due to the advent of captcha, I’m not sure if posting is possible on older browsers with Windows 9x any longer. Using the no script captcha should work, in theory, but I don’t think it renders correctly on older browsers.

i got a pentium MMX

tfw can't use modern browsers because it doesn't support legacy instruction sets,
k-melon ftw tho

I wonder if it would be possible to compile a somewhat recent Mozilla browser, for machines that don’t support SSE or SSE2.

I was going to post from my C3K since my Vectra XU6 isn't hooked up but there's something suddenly fucked up with the sys.4channel.org SSL certificate and Mozilla doesn't like it anymore. Before I relegated it to my second desk like 3 months ago I used to shitpost from it all the time.
Captcha works fine on the latest 9x browsers, I just use the ToastyTech builds of Firefox and SeaMonkey for 95 and NT.

Athlon XP Palomino My first PC

Attached: axp2100.jpg (1600x1200, 240K)

thats neato, but what was even the usecase for that thing? i found it launched in 95 for 500 dollarydo. 2mb ram in 95 was dogshit.

Toastytech refers users to Retrozilla, which has support for modern cyphers, but has an awfully bad time rendering even the simplest webpages. I swear I just tried recently, and captcha was being a fucking nigger on retrozilla. I’ll give it a go later.

Did you have JavaScript on? Unless you just mean it performs terribly, in which case he still has the old builds up that perform well enough.

it's a palmtop computer that runs dos executables, so all sorts of uses. other than usual general computing, i've heard of it being used for packet radio, controlling telescopes, warehouse inventory, gps logging, cnc, flight calculation, an "electronic nose" experiment on a space shuttle mission (palmtoppaper.com/ptphtml/51/51000019.htm)

it was also a variant of the hp 200lx, which came with a bunch of organizer software, including lotus 123 and a fuckin baller calculator

It's that. An original IBM Thinkpad with 333 MHz Pentium II and 96 MB RAM. Only reason I stopped using it was because the screen backlight blew.

Attached: 1479073406960.jpg (480x467, 27K)

No, it doesn’t perform poorly, it just leverages an ancient engine, so modern webpages render like crap. I fucking hate Web 3.0.

It's a PC XT in your pocket that runs all the software such a system can run and more, you didn't use it to run Winshit 95 or play video games.

That's pretty cool

You can install unofficial kernelex + firefox 10

>My 286 does not have a network card though
mine does

takes like half a minute to load motherfuckingwebsite.com though. is there any way to post here with no TLS and no JS? Other than just telnetting to a more recent machine that is.

Attached: IMGP2002.jpg (2793x2500, 1.17M)

Would that run with only 1MB RAM though?
I guess you could make a web rendering proxy running on a recent computer, if the 286 can display large gifs at acceptable speeds. But it likely can't

they are sealed and I don't know what to do with them

Attached: piii.jpg (2071x1769, 704K)

Open one and do a build

finding shitty PIIIs is so easy though it's not worth unboxing one just for that

Keep them for another 20 years
There's nothing interesting inside the package afaik

It would be cool , but a computer would take up more space than these three little boxes and I wouldn't have a use for a piii system. I still think it would be fun for a while.

The plastic wrap has the old intel logo embossed on it too

Good point

It is impossible for me to post off the oldest machine I own because, although it is connected to the internet, none of the screens are capable of graphics
It is a Bleasdale Minicomputer from 1979. I can only post email from it as I dont want to run a text browser. It is running AT&T Unix version 7 and Pine email client. It connects to a Linux mail server, and we run VT100 terminals on it

you could use Windows XP too with such a machine and it would be comfortably fast

I use my Thinkpad X23 to shitpost all the time, it runs OpenBSD and I use Seamonkey but it’s in the other room, I’m shitposting from bed on an iPad.

Pentium III @ 750mhz

I don't have my Amstrad CPC (Z80) anymore

What's a good use for old hardware? Not worth selling; can't run modern software.

I use my pentium 4 to heat the house in winter

This based boy

Pentium 75 mhz - 8 mb ram - 500 mb HD

My Sempron 3000 is broken tho

My nigga

The Pentium machine I had from Chicago is long gone now, there's only the corpse of the Athlon XP machine somewhere in my grandparents house next door that I am still unable to access for years, I need to confirm whenever or not the motherboard I have is from that machine

Bump 'n' Dump
Can lurk but can't post without either SSL or page proxy.

The Core 2 is ancient though. I imagine you still believe Windows 7 is modern.

What's the minimum system requirement for Virus: The Game?

Nice, I love UNIX gear

This here can post too, but I don't have it hooked up right now.

oldest and most useless pc i own is a ryzen threadripper

looks super /comfy/

who plays quake and quake 2 at the same time??
also in windowed mode?????

Store them away for a few decades, might be worth somthing to a collector down the line especially if they are sealed

>listen to NIN from Quake 1 while playing Quake 2
Patrician taste

>Winamp
Patrician choice.

You can use then to run legacy software that doesn't work well with newer machines/operating systems. I know it's easy to set up virtual machines for the purpose but the authentic experience has to be worth something.

Kys zoomzoom

Sometimes you can't even do it in software or when you can it's done badly.
Fuck authenticity of the "feel" I just want the crap I want to execute run like it's supposed to.

>i got a pentium MMX
Can blaze Starcraft on that.
