I am going to a foreign country for 4 months and figure this would be a good time to cut out porn from my life. Problem is I am very much hooked on it and know how to disable pron blockers and such. I use Linux professionally and on my home machines.
I'm going to have a personal Linux laptop. I thought about editing the hosts file, but I know I will just change it. I thought about changing it and changing the root password to something I'll forget, but going 4 months without my root password isn't a good idea. I thought about removing sudoers permissions for my user account, but then I'l just put it back in.
Am I screwed? Is there something I can do to just make the hosts file unchangeable by even root? Is there some program I can use to block sites that I can't just disable with superuser permissions?
>good time to cut out porn from my life if you feel your porn use causes a problem that gradually reduce it to whatever you feel comfortable with and replace it with something more productive, like exercise, when you have an urge for it.

i dont know too much about selinux, but i think it should work for you, op caution, you may brick your system with this, or not. idk. anyway use selinux to block root from changing the hosts file once you have listed everything, and i mean everything that you want to block on there. i dont think you can go bsack and change things once you do this. maybe another user can confirm.
Is this the newest episode of OP is a retard with no self control?
Chase Bailey
Thanks, this looks like it might work.

>boot into live cd because op is a horny faggot >disable selinux fucking useless as always Jow Forums
Jack Thomas
I won't have access to anything like that.
David Bennett
>buy usb or repartition hard drive >dd iso from the internet if you have physical access then you can defeat its access controls
Adam Cruz
use a random generated password
Nathan Campbell
I'm going to a pretty remote place. I will not have access to ISO images, external hard drive mounts, any of that other jazz.
Adrian Myers
>boot into kernel single user mode from grub or boot into efi shell directly from the bios >disable access controls
Jaxon Anderson
you can disable single user and I don't have a laptop that supports EFI bullshit
Eli Anderson
my point being, this is a mental issue and you are going to find a way to circumvent any restrictions you place. if you don't have an internet connection and your porn is encrypted and the keys left at home then you'll just go and buy a porn mag if you really want to.
Nathan Mitchell
besides if a solution takes more than 5 mins I can probably drag myself out of it. its *really* remote.
Joseph Myers
>is a policy I can bypass as I'll likely log in as a user with an unconfined context be useful for a personal problem unrelated to Jow Forums?
Get the fuck out of here faggot. Delete your shitty porn and just stop looking at it. Jesus fuck.
Juan James
As if you can block all porn on the internet. You'll just find another source.
Dylan King
Just close your eyes dumbass
Chase Johnson
you can't change immediately but making it harder for yourself to view it is a good step. yes you can disable it all and probably will, but at least the act alone of disabling it can give you time to consider your decisions.
Henry Sullivan
I want to know how to block Jow Forums thats the real question.
Evan Sanchez
It is literally impossible to block yourself from something on a machine you physically own in a way that you can't bypass. Just take control of your life, slowly, step by step.
