CPUs based on current pricing >Athlon 200GE - HTPC, web browsing, bare minimum gaming (can be OC'd on most mobos with the right BIOS) >R3 2200G - Minimum 30-60fps gaming. The stronger 3400G sells for $150. (R3K APUs OCs better than R2K) >R5 2600 - 60fps+ gaming CPU with great value >R5 3600 - Great gaming CPU >R7 3700X - Overkill gaming CPU >R7 1700X - Budget production >R9 3900X - Professional tasks
RAM >Do not use a single DIMM. 2 sticks for a typical dual channel CPU >CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 3200CL16 or Micron E-die ("AES" in P/N) recommended >AMD B & X chipsets and Intel Z chipsets support XMP >B-die is EOL, stock is limited
GPUs based on current pricing 1080p >RX 570/580 8GB - Can be found on sale/used for cheap. Look for 570s which are >1240MHz boost >(GTX 1660TI @ ~$230/Vega56 @ ~$270) - higher fps / more demanding games >RX 5700 - higher FPS 1440p >RX 5700 - standard, 75-100FPS+ >RX 5700XT - higher fps 2160p (4K) >RTX 2070S OC - budget option. Turing scales better into 4K than Navi does. OR upscale from lower resolution with RIS >2080Ti - best for 4K but expensive
>Navi AIB models come within a week. 5700 non-XT blower is alright, due to low power.
General >Yes, adaptive sync (free/g/sync) is important for gaming >NVMe isn't better than SATA SSD for gaming >Don't use Speccy >Beware sites which rank CPUs by arbitrary, obfuscated scores (eg userbenchmark, passmark, cpuboss) >Beware and report the permaban evading Jow Forums spammer who posts fake benchmarks >AM4 VRMs + Monitors + SSD Guide under "more"
Planning on buying dual 27 inch monitors soon. Will 1080p be ok or is 1440p really the minimum for that size?

just got a noctua nh u12a for 75 dollars used - very good

I'm a poorfag that's gonna buy a 2200G, one I might upgrade to a 3600 later and buy an actual graphics card. The X470/570 range is too expensive for me, so which B450 motherboard should I go for? No matter where I look, there is always some kind of issue. Gigabyte B450s are apparently hotter than an oven, ASUS is overpriced for its features, MSI apparently has worse audio than others and I'm not fond of their DUDE GAMER LMAO thing, and I don't know enough about ASrock mobos. I plan to overclock conservatively, I don't plan on using anything bigger than the stock cooler.
both are garbage tier 3000c15 or 3200c16 ballistix
Charles Edwards
CPUs die when retards dont know how to overclock cpus, must be a newbie playing with the voltages of his cpu, Its impossible that a cpu could die of natural cause with a month old.
Michael Morgan
The high voltages kill them early
Owen Reyes
how long do i have to lurk to understand
Cooper Green
I would get a RM or a Seasonic Focus+ Gold instead as they are around the same price
Lucas Turner
Oh I guess shit is super expensive in your country. If the Vega56 is within 10% of the cost of a 1660, then yeah I'd say go ahead and buy the blower card. Just be prepared for maybe needing to modify the cooler to replace it with better thermal paste, thermal tape, and stuff like that.
The reviewers for the MSI airboost v56 aren't actually THAT bad, but maybe people are used to loud reference cards idk. It's also $260 US right now, plus that $30 game subscription, which is eh something.
fuck dude just get the 2400G it's only $120. It can drive a decently powerful GPU fine. The 2200G is going to stutter once you pair it with a decent GPU, forcing you to upgrade CPU at the same time. >which b450 board Steel Legend, TUF PRO(NOT the PLUS), Mortar, Tomahawk.
Those are basically the same. If same price, the later. I would imagine they're also the same price as Ballistic Sport LT, so wtf?
CPUs die sometimes. I've heard of some dying from that CCX overclock hack, but doesn't look like OP did that as it's not mentioned.
Noah Miller
ok thanks, but is there some kind of problem with corsair im not aware of? i can get it for 85 euros, but if i can get seasonic for the same price i'll get it.
Nathan Garcia
>overclock cpus running stock tho
>Its impossible that a cpu could die of natural cause with a month old. what is manufacturing defects. so no
thats not how it works though
Ian Flores
You have to go see it in person. I like my 1080p 27" monitor but 1440p is great too but seeing the resolution difference is best dine in person. There's a lot of decent/good 1440p 144Hz TN monitors like the Dell 2719 something. Forgot the exact name but freesync version of the monitor is more newer and recent then the g-sync one.
Of course your current setup also factors into this.
Elijah Torres
I booted a 4670k without cpu heatsink because I didn't want to add another paste. Reached 100c on desktop but it didnt shutdown, pc was freezing hard anyway. Did a kill the cpu? I left it open for 30 sec max
No, the TX series is fine The RM series and Seasonic's focus+ series are just slightly better for slightly more money (like $5-10 more)
Aiden Ward
In Europe everything is expensive as fuck sadly my man.
Brayden Anderson
Current setup is a 580, Ryzen 2600 and 16gb of ram using a 1080p TV as a monitor. Of course these specs would change over the new few years. I can't think of anywhere in the UK where I would even go to see monitors and the difference
Christian Diaz
1440p 144hz ips (or 240hz 1440p TN) monitors are expensive so unless you want to go for a monitor and not change at all for several years that option should be kept in mind when making a choice.
Hudson Fisher
Nice I can get the seasonic for 94€ sweet.
Jack Morgan
>fuck dude just get the 2400G it's only $120. in US, i imagine it. however, the 2400G is closer to 200$ where i live
Connor Clark
the ryzen 3700x has a beautiful stock cooler but its probably bottlenecking my 1080 tis capabilities, isnt it?
Jack Allen
No unless you play at 720p.
Aiden Gonzalez
So is it actually 1ms IPS panel or are we getting jewed?
The RMX is actually more quiet though vs the Focus Gold according to cybenetics.com.
15.08 DB(A) compared to the 30-34 DB(A)
Parker Ramirez
>1ms more like 8ms real life
Daniel Campbell
if u want a fast panel just get a 240hz tn 1440p or 1080p or get ips jewed
Gavin Rivera
Optiplex 990

What's the difference between the nitro 590 special edition and the nitro gold version? The specs look the same so is it just the color that that's different?
Carter Davis
It's 1ms in some turbo mode that makes all the text look like shit.
Landon Johnson
I figured you guys would know - what appleshit to get purely for xcode and ios development? 2014 mac mini or something? Already built a pc
I'm looking for 27 inch 144hz 10-bit monitor with a maximum budget of ~450 euro. This is the best thing I could find, is there anything better than this for my price range?
How are we supposed to tell idiot. Boot it up and see if it works. My sisters laptop (according to the sensor) reached temperatures above 100 degrees and it still works.
Almost done purchasing my new build. R7 3700X Radeon 5700XT MSI B450 pro carbon ac G.skill tridentZ 2x8 3200 CL16 Focus Power Gold Full Modular 750 PSU Samsung 860 QVO 1TB Fractal Design Meshify C - TG Noctua nh-d15 see am4 Arctic 140mm silent case fans
I have everything except the heatsink, case, case fans, CPU and obviously GPU (waiting on AIB in-depth breakdowns)
I realize the heatsink may be Overkill but I don't know if any other air cooler options that match that level of performance and quiet according to extensive research. Is there a sleeper on missing it on? Also have we had any more 5700XT fan models leaked?
Cooper Martin
CALLING ALL X570 AORUS MASTER/ULTRA USERS:
Can this grill be easily removed for access to the fan in case it gets dusty/breaks?
>Smallest AM4 board or Intel with iGPU Good as Vega 8
>Compatible with a 200GE, 2400G or 3400G preferably right off the bat, no BIOS update first
>Laptop DDR4 RAM 2666MHz minimum
>16GB Minimum
>1 PCIE 16X port
>External power supply, DC input
>Must fit in a 2001 Xbox shell (That's why I need external PSU)
Bonus: Some way to use an extension and adapter to use my RX 580 externally without huge performance loss
Will be used mostly for Gamecube and Dreamcast emulation in 1080p to 4K, external GPU for some games if I want to (I don't need to reinstall drivers, right?)
Luke Gomez
based nigga
Caleb Fisher
dang, that's a based af setup. I'm curious about the battery setup. Dude probably has a car battery hooked up to an inverter in that bag. I wonder what kind of running time this guy gets with that kind of setup. Probably runs the whole train line from both ends and is addicted to /v/ideo games
Jeremiah Morales

I'd stick with 1080p with your setup. Since in your location you don't have stores to check in person I'd stick with a 24 inch just to be safe.
Leo Ross
I have a 1080ti with a year of microcenter warranty on it, does it seem like the 5800 is coming soon? Hoping it drops 2080 ti prices
Levi Turner
Bump this
Christopher Ross
why the fuck does my nitro+ 580 clock to 1400mhz for a game that runs fine at 60fps at 1200mhz? Isn't this what the different power states are for?
Tyler Peterson
you seem to underestimate the amount of custom work you are going to have to do. You're better off gutting a small laptop and putting the components in. You should go to the forums of people who are dedicated to doing this sort of tomfoolery
both have their flaws and all the shilling you heard is just that, shilling. Do not buy into brands and marketing. For god sake.
Liam Lopez
>NYC >Spanish signs why
Gavin Watson
holy fuck lmao. Alright then, wahtever is cheap.
Even the fastest TN isn't truly 1ms, you retards. It's a good monitor.
Pretty much all the brands except Gigabyte are capable of making a really good card. They just often don't. Sapphire, XFX, ASUS, etc, have made great high end cards... but also problematic ones.
Powercolor is the one I'd buy if I had to do so blind without reviews, as their high end cards are always really good. Never seen coil whine or thermal issues from them. But I suppose this time might be the time they fuck up in 6 years. I guess I can't think of an MSI high end card that's had issues either, but they also sometimes don't even make high end ones for certain models.
