The problem with a cloud icon is that it could be mistakenly interpreted to be a button that saves a file to the cloud, rather than to local storage. Of course, not that a floppy icon, taken literally, is much better, but it at least vaguely indicates that you're saving to local storage.

Just because the glyph was created with a different storage medium in mind doesn’t mean it has to change every time we change the storage medium.
