Home and outside listening, like in the library. Don't need them to be ultra portable.

Tascam TH-02 or Sony MDR-V6. Both could use replacement earpads though as the stock ones are terrible.

listening to music at home mostly

I don't know much about headphones. I know M50s were pushed hard a few years back when I last went headphone-hunting (ended up not buying anything) but just reading around I get the impression that they're deemed overrated. Dunno how much of this is memeing. I listen to mostly rock music if that's of any help.

HE4XX vs HD 6XX?

M40x are a cheaper alternative to m50x. M50x are still good too.
Takstar 580s are really good in that price range too.

what are the pros and cons of m50s?

Not from personal experience but from reviews/measurements:
Pros:
Durable, deep pads, neutral sound in general, detachable cable
Cons:
Uneven frequency response, tight clamp.
From pure sound, the tascam th-02 performs much better for much cheaper. From personal the experience the tascam sounds like planar headphones.

Shure SRH840 for cheap but quality sound? or something else?

My country only has Takstar Pro 80 USED for 50$

tascam th-02 are better than m50s? how can that be, they're like a quarter of the price
what's the best pair i can get for £100-150 in your opinion?

>tascam th-02 are better than m50s? how can that be, they're like a quarter of the price
For sound only, they're built cheap, but still durable, and they also need replacement earpads to be comfortable. They sound amazing though, better than anything closed your £100-150 range. If you insist on spending in your range and not cheaper, then yeah the m50xs are probably the best in that range as there aren't many good closed headphones in general. Your price range is a really bad area for closed headphones.

I've narrowed down my poorfag options. Out of these, which one would you pick?

>Porta Pros
>Tascam TH-02 with replacement pads (maybe brainwavz?)
>KSC75
>MDR V6

Are HE400i's a good starting point for this autism? Or are traditional dynamic drivers better for the price? I am looking for something that will blow me away in sound quality after years of earbuds and chink IEMs. I already know I will be buying a DAC and amp, so that isn't a factor.

Tascam for best sound. They sound like planars and are detailed enough in the highs without sounding bright. If you want a brighter headphone go with v6. Porta pros and ksc75s are always good but the tascams do sound better. I have brainwavz pads on mine and yaxi pads on the v6.

400i is excellent. You'll have to spend thousands to get a decent upgrade from those.

Get the takstar pro 82 m8. you wont find anything better for under 200 quid and it's cheap as fuck - especially on ali express.

If you can justify that kind of build quality then rationalize the price sure.

Why don't you already own a pair of kph30i g? drop.com/buy/koss-kph30i#overview

Which is the better buy?

TELL ME ABOUT SHURE

They make good IEMs, se535 especially. Although noawadays chink iems off aliexpress are probably just as good.

exclusively commuting, phone listening, might even just use them to filter out a bit of noise while on public transportation. decent isolation MANDATORY. probably won't use them for more than 1 hour at a time

IEMs are fine too btw

Senns 4.40 BT maybe?

Are there headphones with a feeling even more "aerial" than those?

don't seem to exist in my local ebay website
might have to get into the chink system

They used to be only game in town for IEMs, but now there's so much good competition, no need to bother with their stuff.

Okay given the price I'm sold, no harm in shelling out £25 I guess. Which replacement pads would you recommend?

Also what would you recommend for open headphones in that range?

What headphones does he wear?

What's a good open back headphone under $500? Not sure if I want something neutral or something warm. No screeching beyerdynamic highs though pls.

Brainwavz they're what I use. Dekoni is good too, I use them on other headphones but not sure if they have any that fit the th-02.

Kill yourself, retard.

I think the M50s are your best bet.

Nobody that actually knows anything about headphones seriously. Half the people are there for his weeboo anime crap and the other half stumbled in through youtube recommends.

>Buy some bluetooth shit to fuck around with and test
>See a strange delay between pausing/playing audio and the animation but think it's just the OS i'm on
>Then see that there's a significant delay for voices and the lip syncing
And phone manufacturers want us to buy nothing but bluetooth audio shit? Fuck that. DAC/AMP/Wired Headphones will forever reign supreme.

You guys over exaggerate the chink build quality of Hifimans. HE400S is bottom of the barrel and it's build quality isn't bad at all. My MDR-1ADAC has more creaking than the 400S ffs

Attached: IMG_20190816_113234-1512x2016.jpg (1512x2016, 563K)

Fuck Diana Krall and anyone who listens to """"vocal jazz""" or some other meme genre to prove to themselves their headphone is worth the price.

I'm caving and buying the he4xx today, very excited

I use jpop idol shit to audition headphones with.

How big of a difference did your m1060 mods make to the sound?

Grado SR80

HE400S with focus pads are better than 400i
Thing with them isn't build quality of the lowest product
HE-6 costs a lot more, and has the exact same build, except for the drivers.

4XX. Better base, better extension, better dynamics, actually had soundstage. HD6XX sounds like a normal headphone, only better. 4XX's sound way better. Don't fall for the scaling meme.

If that's the kind of music you enjoy, then that's the correct choice

Attached: IMG_20190424_213305.jpg (4000x3000, 3.32M)

Already ordered something for this. Here's to hoping.

I got it that way, haven't really had the motivation to put it back to stock. I love the vegan pads too much.

I was put off Hifimans for a long time because of all the 'quality control issues' people about about them.

In that shot? The Verum-1.
verum-audio.com/

hifiman got a bad reputation for their lower end products (HE400 and HE500 series), they really cut costs there and cut corners with the cheap plastic. On the one side this made the popular for their low price, planars used to be >$500 before Hifiman came to the scene. On the other side their side pieces would snap off if you ever dropped them. Fortunately their higher end product use metal parts.

How the fuck did he get his 7/10 white wife? He doesn't seem rich at all, lives in a shitty apartment...is it a big cock?

A. He's not married, and B. His booty is imported from South America, so that's the best he can do with what he's got.

What headphone stand is that?

Attached: STAX incel 6.jpg (448x336, 17K)

Any decent headphones with a 3.5mm port on the cup (I own a vmoda boom microphone). Or headphones that can be easily modified to use one.. I'm in the UK so don't suggest shp9500.

Attached: Untitled.png (2250x845, 621K)

I've modded my AKG k701s and K550s for those. As long as they have space in the housing it isn't hard at all. I only soldered a few times before.

I don't know anything about headphones but those LCD 3's look really cool so I'm going to buy a pair. What kind of amp will I need?

At least a magni 3. Look at LCD-X for reduced amp requirements.

If you've got the money, go with Stax over the Audeze.

How does the a DAC connected to a PC via USB work exactly, I don't really understand how it "communicates" with your headphones. Does it override the on-board audio or?

Get hybrids if you can. Leather for more isolation, velour for comfort. We don't know how you like stuff shoved against your face though.

pc -> dac -> headphones -> you (gay)

Yeah obviously, doesn't answer my question though.

Data from the PC is sent to the DAC through USB then output through the jack.

>does it override the onboard audio
Yes, if you tell the PC to output through the USB port. Works the same as external soundcards. Eg the Asus Xonar gets recognised by the PC as an audio output device and will install drivers for it.
