consumer routers are pretty much all shit.

>garbage consumer shit
>ultimate
you fucking stupid ultimate nigger

The ultimate Jow Forums router would be a Thinkpad running Gentoo

Look at smallnetbuilders recommendations or go full autism with a ubiquiti setup

Give me a 24 port gigabit switch over this crap any day.

Nah. it's this one.

Consumer routers are fine unless you actually need more advanced features. If you can, try to get something that you can flash with a custom firmware.

I have my superseded gaming motherboard running Debian serving as my router. It's at least ten times more powerful than it needs to be, but it works pretty well

>no firewall
>zero security
im telling mom

You're assuming I don't have separate machines handling all of that.

It's absolute trash, had to return it.
So yes.

A decommissioned server running pfsense is Jow Forums as fuck.

Archer C7 with openwrt is pretty comfy

>*plugs anything usb*
>*wifi goes to shit*
nothing personnel kid

No, this is

i hope you're trolling
ubiquiti pisses me off. unifi controller in a vm was annoying and their ecosystem is confusing to me. it's also >java
however the APs themselves are good quality in my limited experience
rocking sb8200, dedicated pfsense box, ubiquiti uap ac lr, unmanaged gigabit switch
this is about the cheapest i would want to go for an "enthiusiast" setup
if you go any cheaper you're going to be using consumer combo garbage

>what is power draw
get a killawatt or something, you might be able to save a server's worth of $ switching to a newer and lighter box

No, you don't. That is why you posted that pic, retard.

No, this is

seeing as it is also an AP fuck no that should be a separate device

>switch

You mean ultimate chinkshit consumer grade garbage?

>Archer C7

It's best to avoid cheap products from ToiletPaper Link

>not using this

Had both a avm fritzbox 7530 and a tp link vr2800v, both are shit what are some Alternatives?

And for us not living under the floor tiles of a datacenter? That want something that just werks and can stick it in a closet

Based gamerchad

>powerful antennas
Looks like regular monopole antennas
And power is limited by standardisation

no
fortinet or pfsense running in vm is

There is nothing wrong with TP-Link

I am building my own on a BPI-R2 board. Every other "home router" is just a joke.

Pretty much. Anything Mikrotik.

I'm running one on stock firmware and it's great, why do I need openhurt if I can port forward my Minecraft server already on stock and steal a static IP from Comcast?

*flies away*
heh, nothing personnel kid

Unironically waiting for router with 10GBps ethernet ports so I can future proof

>mikrotik
>wanting chinese mikrodiks penetrating your home network

they even included the pythagorean theorem proof on the cover

hot

This thread is proof Jow Forums knows nothing about networking, wifi, high end consumer routers, shit tier industry routers and is just idiots larping as experts because they've heard about pfsense

educate us

this, recommend me a ax router

Seriously.

>smallnetbuilders
>got their no.1 (R7800) on sale for $99 during black friday 2 years ago

lol

Get this gay shit outta here

Asus or go home

Get an HP T620 plus low profile 4 port NIC and load it with pfsense. Cheap, powerful, and future proof.

I have one of those strapped to the bottom of my desk across the house, and a 50 foot Cat7 cord running to my router, pictured.

Forgive the adware-tier image, it was the first google result of my model with a shot of the top AND rear.

>Chinese
It has the best backdoors in the business, prime stuff.

I have a Belkin N150 lying around. Is there any use to it?

I don't own a modem, I steal signal off xfinitywifi hotspots since I have an account with Comcast.
