Not everyone plays games just like not everyone uses machine learning or rendering memes etc. Nobody is discussing gaymes in these threads. They are discussing features and performance of the cards and CPUs that they utilize. you play games to entertain yourself, but you do machine learning or rendering to perform a task, to accomplish something
With playing games you don't give back anything to the world, you're just a zombie consumer who haven't got anything better to do with his free time
With developing / rendering you encounter a real life problem (or idea) and you have to figure it out which eventually ends with the creation of something new (although it might not be that much significant)
