because it's easier on your eyes you chimp
It's pleasing in the eyes, ips and oled screens are getting much more common
>It's pleasing in the eyes, ips and oled screens are getting much more common
oh no! how dare someone like a color theme that i can turn off!
>Ask a dumb question
>Get reasonable answers
>Mimic them while posting reaction memes
You're one sad, stupid fuck
reTNard detected.
please stop being poor.
I've never used dark mode on anything, PC or phone. Fucking hate it, I prefer the normal view.
is where you belong
Dark is easier on the eyes than white.
dark mode is for retards.
do you type word documents in dark mode too? do you read pdfs in dark mode? nice no job neet
>using a retarded meme makes you Jow Forums
you're dumber than OP
Not true
>Do you type word documents in dark more
yes
So CIA can be more easily spotted
AMOLED benefits from it.
Old systems where permanent dark mode, as only monochrome monitors existed.
>word documents
Actually, they're just documents. Word is the name of one of Microsoft's propietary malware programs, part of their Microsoft Office propietary malware application suite. You can edit .docx files on other programs, like LibreOffice Writer.
I bet you call slide shows "Powerpoint presentations", too.
>do you type word (sic) documents in dark mode too?
Yes.
>do you read pdfs in dark mode?
No, I use an e-ink ebook reader for that.
>nice no job neet
Rude.
Because this is the future
The pupils need to dilate with white. Dark requires less effort.
THE FUCK IT IS NIGGER IT CAUSES EYE PROBLEMS
Proof? As far as I know, staring at a lamp is worse than staring at a dimmed lamp.
>reTNard detected.
>please stop being poor.
That's not what causes eye strain
But it is what causes burnt out retinas. Recent studies have shown that blue light fucks up your eyes sooner than ever. Having darker colors causes for less blue light, but using blue light filters is even better.
It saves battery life since I have an AMOLED screen and those pixels are turned off.
on macOS you can literally switch between light and dark modes, by a single button.
and yes, light mode is better always
>do you type word documents in dark mode too?
Word literally has a black theme now
Because people like feeling like hackers.
>I like my UI black
>I like my hardware white
>I like my UI black
>Just like my metal
Can we just admit it has nothing to do with eye-strain and is purely aesthetics?
Black on pure white looks cheap, shades of grey looks more refined.
That's really all there is to it, nerds have been installing dark modes for decades, long before OLED became a consideration.
same reason it's more dangerous to glimpse at the sun during the eclipse than during the day.
Retarded analogy. Contrast isn't that big and there's more reasons to not do that other than "sun light, hidden dark"
movie theaters would be banned.
>Can we just admit it has nothing to do with eye-strain and is purely aesthetics?
No you absolute double nigger
>thinks that posting a nu-meme invalidates anything
>mfw no beige theme
>all elements of the UI are dark
>huge ass white sheet in the middle
what's the point
>oled
>more battery life
>retinas less irradiated
fad?
What the fuck is up with the blinding mode fad?
real users know real uis are green on black
It goes well with my dark and cynical outlook on life
DARK LIKE MY SOUL
Because people like it, you raging homosexual.
It's because kids don't know how to properly calibrate monitors, heck do they even come with the standard brightness/contrast/gamma anymore? They think the settings from the store are the best but they are too intense so revert to dark mode.
>s-someone made fun of my beloved meme
>q-quick, post more of that meme, t-that'll show 'm
where do you get the time between sucking all those dicks?
>I would rather have blinding white everything
It's actually not. Use a lamp rather than staring at your screen in the dark, it's easier on your eyes with a light theme than a dark theme with no light.
nice avatar usage! how about posting an image relevant to your discussion topic instead of starting it with your avatar?
no, it's best on your eyes when the brightness of your screen matches the brightness of the room
if you're in a relatively dark room, you want a relatively dark display
if you're in a bright room, you want a bright display
high 0-100 contrast is also bad for your eyes, you should want something more toward 20-80, though it doesn't matter which element is the light and which is the dark
additionally, proper calibration to reduce eye strain dictates that "pure white" on your display should be equal in color temperature and brightness levels as a piece of white paper next to the display
>no, it's best on your eyes when the brightness of your screen matches the brightness of the room
He already said that. Adjust the light in your room to match the screen, with a lamp.

that's PowerPoint you nigger
You try working with this all day OP
A light grey background works wonders (if that is still too bright lower your monitor settings).
>fad
dark mode existed in the 80s
That doesn't change the fact that the LCD is constantly shinning light towards your eyes
Do you even need to cite history as a source when a dark theme is pure logic anyway
>question I don't truly want the answer to
> >answer
>lol what a trannyfag

am i doing it right
Dilate.
heh
dilate
>send me last week's documents
*sends the .dwg, .ppt, .xls files but not the .doc*
Pretty retarded if you ask me
Most are gray and not black, and they don't support auto switching using your location
That's some half assed shit right there
The only app I've seen that does it properly is Google photos and contacts on battery save mode
good post
>I like being blinded at night whenever I do something as simple as checking for texts
who the fuck gets triggered by a group of people changing the color of pixels to make them darker?
you can just not use dark mode even if you don't like it.
>saves power
>easier on the eyes
>looks prettier
>
>Jow Forums hates it
of course
>Most are gray and not black
gray still saves battery.
xda-developers.com
>Imagine getting assblasted over a fucking theme color
>Jow Forums hates it
OP isn't Jow Forums. Only Jow Forums gets this triggered by black.
No need to argue about this like there is an absolute truth about it, because there is not, it's all relative to the user's comfort.
I have keratoconus, so very high contrast like white on black is a nightmare for me, and at the same time i can't stand lights that are too bright. So there is no "best" mode for me, but I usually go with dark.
I try switching to dark mode on Jow Forums app but it looks bad. plus when I type the keyboard is not dark reeeee
Fuck you user, you just brought back a part of my teenage years that I had successfully repressed for all these years
Has nothing to do with AMOLED, it saves power regardless what type of screen you have.
There's no general reason why it would save power with lcd screens.
nice placebo loool
>dark mode is for retards.
Really? Then why is the Bloomberg terminal black? Why are most trading software black? Why are airport scheduling boards black?
Panels that are normally black use slightly less power if they display dark colors.
95% of the power is still used by the backlight so it barely makes any difference, but he's technically not wrong.
Yeah, but I want black, mate
niggers are harder to see in the dark
kek
not if they glow
Out of the all memes today this one is actually good
I'm just afraid the white background is going to shoot up my office so I use dark
The pupils constrict with brightness.
But the black one will steal your bike.
are you ok senpai
Holy shit, my sides.
Imagine being so assblasted about people having the option to make pixels dark instead of white
It's not like dark mode is some new invention. For a long time, most computers were light on dark. I'm pretty sure the only reason black on white became popular was so that documents would look like they were written on paper.
It "feels" easier on the eyes. But it's actually worse for your eyes. Look it up brajene
This is the stupidest thing I've ever read. The light around the edges of the eclipse is extremely bright
Based
Eye strain isn't damage. Dark mode could maybe have some minor temporary effects on your eyes, doesn't mean your eyes are literally being permanently fucking damaged by using dark mode.
Unironically this.
I mix and match dark mode.
terminal - dark
IDE - dark
web browser - light
dash (documentation tool) - light
company chat client - light
you got showed bro
There is a different between a light source and light being reflected off of a surface.
Dilate your pupils.
They weren't really "dark mode" as much as "off mode" since the black parts of the screen were doing nothing.
>how come people like things that I don't like reeeeee
Actual unironic autistic screeching.
