>what is IEEE 754

The program should automatically pad the 0's out based on the digit with the most decimals instead of the least.

How many times do we need to have this thread?

It's not padding.
10.1 - 10 = 0.09999999999999964

libre calc has the exact same symptom

fucking why? I can understand if it was multiplication (rounding), but not simple subtraction

See

Yeah, it's not like people expect fixed point arithmetic in software primarily used for finance

>oh no, my 0.000000000000000001 cent!!!!

Can g solve that?

0.2 + 0.2 * 0.2

Easy, it's 0.24000000000000002

No, it's 0.08000000000000002 dumbass.

>stupid carpenters use hammers as saws
>hammers should include a pointy edge to accommodate retards

>IEEE 754
elaborate, I can't figure out why this happens

It's got less to do with IEEE-754 and more to do with the fact that 1/10 is a nonterminating fraction in base 2 (like how 1/3 would be in base 10).

0 + 0 * 0 is 0, user.

>10.1 - 10 = 0.09999999999999964
wat

explain please

alien technology

You kinda lose percision with floating variables
