>List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work
>For monitors, include purpose (e.g., photoediting, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)

CPUs based on current pricing
>Athlon 200GE - HTPC, web browsing, bare minimum gaming (can be OC'd on most mobos with the right BIOS)
>R3 2200G - Minimum 30-60fps gaming. 2400G/3400G may be worth to less likely require a CPU upgrade when adding a dGPU
>R5 2600 - 60fps+ gaming CPU with great value
>R5 3600 - Great gaming CPU
>R7 3700X - Overkill gaming CPU
>i9-9900k - Only worthwhile with a 2080Ti @ 1080p
>R7 1700 - Budget production
>R9 3900X - Professional tasks

RAM
>Do not use a single DIMM. 2 sticks for a typical dual channel CPU
>CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 3200CL16 or Micron E-die ("AES" in P/N) recommended
>AMD B & X chipsets and Intel Z chipsets support XMP
>B-die is EOL, stock is limited

GPUs based on current pricing
1080p
>RX 570/580 8GB - Can be found on sale/used for cheap. Look for 570s which are >1240MHz boost
>GTX 1660TI / Vega56 - higher fps / more demanding games; only worth it on sale as normal MSRP is to ohigh
>RX 5700 - higher FPS
1440p
>RX 5700 - standard, 75-100FPS+
>RX 5700XT - higher fps
2160p (4K)
>RX 5700XT - budget option. Upscale with RIS
>2080Ti - best for 4K but expensive

>Navi AIB models have low availability. 5700 non-XT blower is alright, due to low power.

So I bought this crypto dip with what little money I saved for my next computer. Going to let it grow until its big enough to build the whole thing. Ill get it for 1/3rd the price. Genius.

But Nvidea does suck though and AMD can do no wrong.

How much would it cost?

news.samsung.com/global/samsungs-pm1733-ssd-and-high-density-dimms-support-amd-epyc-7002-series-processor

Nvidia does suck. But so does AMD, and intel, and pretty much all fucking companies.
That is all.

I never understood this shill tactic.
Just
>blatantly lying about prices as if people won't see the actual prices aren't what you claim them to be when they're put in the card.

5700XT are $410-$450
2070S are $500-$620. And that's for the FE which has whiny and grindy fan noise as even the Nvidia shill spammers point out, and some cheapshit Zotac. More decent ones start at $530+.

What's a good website to compare monitors?
I don't know which one to pick.
I want a high refreshrate 1440p ultrawide that doesn't have gamer looks but still performs good.

Attached: Screenshot_20190818-113156_Samsung Internet.jpg (1080x5367, 1.08M)

>Don't use Speccy
What should I use then?

CPU-Z

There are no good "ultrawide" monitors. They all have serious issues.

HWInfo tends to be good.
But nothing comes remotely close to the kino that is System Information Viewer. It is the Temple OS of system information tools.

Anyone find a decent vendor in EU to buy the new Red Devil RX5700 XT? Can't seem to find many and the ones that do sell it are jewing 560 EUR for it.

I'm looking to buy a new PC for around 1000-1300 EUR. So far I've decided on using R5 3600 and 5700 XT, but I need help understanding some things. After reading/watching some guides and advice, I don't know what's correct and what's BS. If you could tell me if any of the following is true, that's be great:
- If I don't buy an x570 board, I'll end up regretting it when I try to upgrade in any way?
- If I buy a Tomahawk, it may not work despite updating the bios via the flashback feature?
- The optimal RAM speed for Zen 2's is 3600 MHz with CL as low as I can afford, otherwise RAM will be a bottleneck for the CPU?
- The stock R5 3600 cooler gets pretty loud, so it's good to install something better, even without OC in mind?
- Reference 5700 XT is loud as fuck and the best alternative for now seems to be the Sapphire Pulse version?
Also:
What's a reason to choose an x470 mobo over a b450 or x570?
If it's not critical to buy an x570 mobo, will there be new B450 boards coming out with Zen 2's in mind?
Is it optimal to hold off on buying the 5700XT until all the AIB are properly released and reviewed, maybe even somewhat discounted? I can use my current RX 570 until then.
Does living in the EU change what the optimal components are in any way?

Attached: Screenshot_23.png (1477x521, 67K)

£425 for a Pulse 5700 XT, why at that point would I not just get a FE 2070S and know I'll never have to deal with AMD's awful drivers?

Attached: 1564934921174.jpg (550x550, 20K)

I don't expect the price to ever be near the regular 5700xt.
So you might as well just buy a 2070s, which peforms better in games, is quieter and cooler.

current RX 470*

x570 boards is only good for pcie 4, which again is only good for real fast ssds, might as well get an older chipset for half the price, although you will have to deal with the bios upgrade then
also x570 has some nasty loud chipset fans
3200mhz ram isn't much slower than 3600, 3600 is just the best performance you can still get for a reasonable price
best performance is 3733mhz ram, but those are like double the price
definitely get another cpu cooler
forget about standard 5700xt unless you don't mind 50db+
on that note, you probably want to forget about 5700xt custom as well, since they are priced closely to a 2070s which performs better in any regard other than raw power

If I were to use the amd provided cooler but change it to something different later on do I have to disassemble the entire pc again?

>also x570 has some nasty loud chipset fans
Are gigabyte mobos the only ones that let you turn the fan off?

Can anons recommend me what to do? I'm starting Uni (mech engineering) soon, and am thinking of getting a computer for it. My plan is getting an okay Laptop for school stuff then build a powerful desktop for work.

Should i just invest in a desktop only or get a really powerful laptop?

Okay lads, I'm finally upgrading my PC since the graphics slot on my old motherboard died. I have solid RAM (16gb Viper), SSD and HDD already, and won't need a monitor and so on. I play on 1080p, with 60/75hz monitor. I got suggested these parts

AMD Ryzen 5 2600 (6C/12T, 3.9GHz,19MB,65W,AM4) box, Wraith Stealth
LC-Power LC-CC-120, Intel/AMD + AM4
MSI B450M PRO-VDH PLUS, AM4, DDR4, U3, m.2, mATX
Napajanje SilentiumPC Vero L2 600W, 80+ Bronze
SilentiumPC Regnum RG2 TG Pure Black, 2x120mm, P/N: SPC217

But my question is, should I put a 1660Ti or 2060 into the setup if I'm going to continue playing on 1080p and don't plan to move up in resolution. I'd simply like to have consistent 60/75 fps on 1080p in coming years, on high settings.

if you can remove both side panels and it has access to back of cpu probably not

Has anyone used the combination of a Cooler Master H500M, Noctua NH-D15, and G.Skill Trident Z? To fit the ram you need to shift up one of the fans on the NH-D15. CM reckon the cooler clearance is 190mm, but I've read user reviews that say there's not a lot of clearance left with that cooler and case combo so I'm a bit worried.

Supposed to come back in stock Monday.
Then sell out immediately again.

Put prices in your local currency.
You can probably get a better cooler for the money like the Freezer 34.
>- If I buy a Tomahawk, it may not work despite updating the bios via the flashback feature?
It'll work if the BIOS updates. But if you're retarded and can't follow instructions on how to update the BIOS it may brick the board.
>- Reference 5700 XT is loud as fuck and the best alternative for now seems to be the Sapphire Pulse version?
Red Devil is one of the best partner cards ever made, but it's a bit more expensive and uses some more power. Pulse is fine.
>- The optimal RAM speed for Zen 2's is 3600 MHz with CL as low as I can afford, otherwise RAM will be a bottleneck for the CPU?
You really don't need to spend that much. You'll get just as good or better performance from Micron E-die if you learn how to manually tighten the timings yourself.

Going with this build for 4k60 older games and 1440p60 newer stuff. Is everything alright with it and is it good for upgradability? The motherboard is the one I don't want to ever change until I buy something completely new. Would probably buy either 3900x or zen 3 at some point, sure hope those motherboards will be compatible with it. Also will probably go for a 3080ti, if that ever comes out.
de.pcpartpicker.com/list/ZsjQjy

The Phanteks Enthoo Pro case appears to have everything I want: large front fan, dust filters, full size, minimalist appearance.
However, I've noticed that it came out in 2014; is there a more modern version of this case, which might also have more modern features, such as USB 3.1?

Alright, after shitting up this general for the past week I'm gonna buy this build: uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/J6mpdX,
it's for gaymen, any last minute adjustments I should make? The only bit I'm still torn on is the motherboard, not sure If I should go with this one: gigabyte.com/uk/Motherboard/X570-AORUS-ELITE-rev-10#kf or the B450M

Tomahawk has better vrm cooling and a usb-c in the back the rest is basically the same

Cool, will go with tomahawk and buy all the parts as soon as I can find a non fucked UK supplier for the PULSE...

Your faculty will have purpose built computers for CAD - use those instead and buy yourself a laptop for note taking and general use

Not in Europe, especially not in Eastern Europe unfortunately. The absolutely dogshit reference 5700xt go for around $470. AIB models for AMD cards were always a pain in the ass to get here and Navi is not an exception. I only found one retailer that sold any AIB 5700xt and it was the Sapphire Pulse for a whooping $565. 2070S FE went for $600 but it doesn't matter because they are all sold out by now. However, you can get the Palit JS or GameRock with both received pretty stellar reviews from different outlets for around $635. You can get cheaper Gigabyte Windforce and MSI Ventus models for roughly $600 but they are shit. Building a PC in Eastern Europe is painful.

Sure glad there's 1/2 shops in my country that sell components for somewhat decent prices. Everybody else is way over the recommended price. Really funny when you check the price checker site and see the jumps between cheapest and second cheapest.

could i get a vega64 without upgrading the psu?
my psu is a bequiet pure power 11 and my cpu is a r5 2600. the seasonic wattage calculator shows a recommended wattage of 563w

Here's a tentative shopping list. I'm based in Ireland, so will likely buy what I can from Amazon. Need to put this PC together as soon as possible, since Brexit will probably fuck us hard on the consumer shopping front.

EVGA or Corsair for PSU?
I'm looking to dual-boot W10 and Ubuntu, are there any known hardware/driver issues that I should be aware of?
Thanks Jow Forums

which vega 64? how many watts in PSU? How old is your PSU?

the sapphire vega 64. i have a 600w psu, and my psu isn't even half a year old

should be alright, the worst that can happen is system shutdown at peak

thanks a lot

So i would only need a lightweight laptop for general use then? thanks alot.

Good chance you'll have access to access to a server cluster which you'll be able to use if you need to run simulations or anything like that. Get a laptop for working with the software, writing code and debugging, then offload it to the cluster for the actual computational stuff.

>Will the stock cooler on the CPU be enough if I don't intend to OC?
if you building this long term think about better cooler, mostly look for silence
>Is the RAM speed enough?
from personal ryzen experience even 2133 is enough
>EVGA or Corsair for PSU?
seaconic of evga

why the fuck would you buy base 2060 though? even 2060 Super is not worth it specially for $400

thanks for your input, anons

Im thinking of grabbing the Huawei matebook D. Light and pretty powerful from what i could see. Would you recommend it?

>why the fuck would you buy base 2060 though?
I was thinking of giving VR a look at some point, but I'm not sure.

Cooler is overkill, especially for 60fps where your bottleneck will generally be heavily on the GPU.
PSU is oversized.
5700XT upscaling is going to be better performance without the 5% performance hit of using reshade with an Nvidia card and cheaper.

>i want a giant case that'll be 80% empty space

Spamming fake benchmarks is trolling and against the rules.

Vega can be spiky with power draw and needs a larger power supply than you'd expect for the average draw.
But why would you get vega64 and not 56 anyway? Unless it's used, 64 have always been overpriced.

Attached: firefox_2019-08-18_08-04-30.png (1304x811, 204K)

you know this summer 5 cards were released that are better than 2060, right?

I’m throwing a new 1660 Ti into my older 2015 computer, and I think I should get a new PSU. My old was a shitty 650w Raidmax I got for cheaper than a Thai whore. I’m still running an i7 4790k and 16gb of DDR3 1600 so my power consumption isn’t exactly high. Any suggestions on a decent PSU under $70 that won’t turn into an electrical nightmare?

Which color option should I choose? I'm leaning towards white but maybe it gets boring after a while?

white

not sure, but MSI ones have the best stock cooler that turns itself off and is otherwise very quiet
but then again, the lower priced msi x570 boards have worse temperature and voltage performance than asus and gigabyte

Completely new to this here, and this is what im aiming to build. Are there any other things i should be worrying about?

I like gunmetal, personally.

I'm looking to buy a newer case and maybe at the end of this year a new PC. The current build I have is an old ass haswell one.

Thing is, I'm seeing better choices at the same price point for mATX than ATX. I have two motherboards currently, one ATX and the other one mATX, been switching between them a few times and there ain't much of a difference other than the chipset (H81 vs Z97, though the processor is non-K) and the possibility of adding a dedicated sound card I have without trouble on the ATX one.

Should I limit myself to mATX or go for an ATX case and live with it?

why do people dislike LG monitors

is ~$640 a good price on a used, not abused msi gaming x 1080 ti
a local b&m is selling one, and tested there’s nothing wrong with it and is in practically pristine condition with the box and brochures or anything

Shhh... You'll wake up the amd shills.

Im a complete newfag. Please help give guidance on what I need or the problems with this. Im not tech savvy at all. I have a budget of 5k USD and plan to use it for practically everything, from primarily being a datacenter, frequent gaming use, hosted media streaming/server usage, and as a 3d modeling and rendering, audio engineering, graphic design, and compiling. All of these are necessities as features I dont really have to space, infrastructure, or income to accomodate separating to multiple devices. Preferably quiet and cool, able to be cramped into a small space, microATX seems to be as big as I can realistically fit.

pcpartpicker.com/list/FpLLWD

Again, I'm not tecnically capable in any capacity nor do I know much of the jargon despite my efforts trying to breakdown info in the OP.

What are good brands?

Also, with little maintainance. It would be preferable to keep things around 40-45 dB with large loads. But still cool, as I live in a hot and humid area

The PHANTEKS Eclipse P600S might be the answer. Thanks, user.

For the top of a case 1 200mm fan or 2 140fmm fans? Assuming two 200mm in the front and a 140mm in the back

I was thinking of upgrading but here's the deal: I recently built this PC earlier this year and I wasn't even planning it for gaming (hence why I just got an APU), then the two game deal from AMD surprised me, so I got an RX 570 (could only afford that one at the time) and by now I've almost completely switched to PC gaming and I think I might skip the next gen of consoles.

Since then, I've gotten better RAM and a new power supply. The issue I'm having is that games like Hitman 2016 and Dishonored 2 (especially the latter) can't hold 60fps at 1080p on medium or even low settings. I suspect the CPU is bottlenecking. I also plan on getting Cyberpunk 2077 which almost certainly will run like crap on this PC.

So I was wondering where I can go from here. Should I upgrade to a slightly better build now, and have to upgrade again for the next gen (that really wouldn't be an ideal solution and I want to avoid that, I'd prefer to just get a PS5 instead), or attempt to futureproof with a much better CPU and GPU now, so that I can at least play next gen games @1080/60 with medium settings (I'm not that interested in enabling stuff like Raytracing either).

What are my best options here and what specific hardware would be more adequate for my situation?

Attached: 78655645.png (709x517, 117K)

What's the best GPU with a DVI port?

Pulled the trigger and ordered a Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 XT Pulse and a Ryzen 3600.
Finally I can upgrade from my GTX 770 that I've had for 6 years... Fucking finally.

Attached: 00aa42dba30d1a685fb2ff6deb75c41195ba5b8473f3e158c1e00838ae24aa5e.png (500x377, 416K)

I am more than satisfied to make the build work in mini ITX. The main reason I sized up was because the stuff in the OP gave me concerns about their scalability, part bending, and issues with heat from the cases. If thats not the case then I'm more than satisfied.
That being said will I need to worry about the compatability notes for the case and AIO cooler? Is there a toolkit or something to adjust and verify that fit or would it be a jury-rigging situation?

Dunno if this is the right thread for this but /sqt/ isn't answering

My PC was doing something rather CPU intensive, I heard a click sound, and then the PC was off.
I tried to turn it on several times, the power button light comes on and the fans start to spin, but a fraction of a second later it all turns off again.
The motherboard and ethernet lights are still on.
I did some googling to check if my PSU died, I tried the "PSU paperclip test" to see if the fans would turn on but they didn't turn on.

Is my PSU kill?

Does a UPS system really necessary for a desktop? Im currently living in Germany, and blackouts/brownouts dont happen that often

on sait quand ldlc/topachat auront la red devil ?

Really? Can you link the page?

making it as a tube config is the best I think, don't put fans on top, it will starve air cooler of air decreasing efficiency of cooler fans it gotta blow 90% of air through the fins without misdirection
a fan on a bottom might be okay for GPU thats plus to frontal ones

>Does a UPS system really necessary for a desktop?
no, even if it blacks out or surges any modern PSU got protection

What are some of your best tips for building a pc that are rather unknown for most people?

what GPU?

What components cause a pc to become really slow?

fuse probably blown, can be fixed
depending on your area buying new PSU may be cheaper
are you sure you did paperclip right? it's easy to miss the right inserts
or, which also can be fixed, it's a capacitor that blew up, open it up and see
