this

my PC idles at 1.2G because i dont close tabs B)

my KDE manjaro idles at 1.5gb and my void with wmaker at 80mb. both of them run well, so there is no issue. bloated or not, it runs fast, why should I clean it up?

Is this the ramlet thread?

empty ram is wasted ram tards

>system services / daemons are bloat

OK.

oh yea the void install is on my t60 btw, which only has 1.5gb ram. I guess it actually does matter there, but can't think of a reason why it does on my desktop with 16gb.

>my room is large so i will fill it with unnecessary shit i never use!

my room is pretty clean, can't really compare something visible such as a messy desk to a bunch of processes which have no effect on you because they run in the background and don't really hog enough resources to slow down other processes though. that's literally just autism.

>autism
>on Jow Forums

My computer never idles per se. I constantly have at least one thing going at all times so I don't have to wait for it. If I am compiling a particularly large project I will leave it to run all night. Though idle is about 1gb if I had to ballpark it based off how it looks on boot.

that's fucking sad
>1000mb
more like 100

This desu. I loved Gentoo for how barebones and unbloated it could be. Didn't much care for the autistic repos though. Ran it for a good three years before switching off.

this. even shit like KDE can idle at 500mb

Ya'll talking shit?

reminder that RAM usage has no impact on performance until you're at ~95% usage

but you can do more stuff before the impact point if your OS uses less memory

You can also just have more RAM. More RAM means less worries.

>sacrificing usability for a performance benefit in a situation which happens rarely if it all

Suck my dick.

imagine being a ramlet and actually giving a shit about this

1.7MiB image just to inform us you're using 81MiB of RAM. Who's the real bloatfag here? I only breathe once per minute. Stop wasting oxygen.

you look as productive as any arch user

I'm currently sitting at 22.3/32GB.

>9m uptime
>no packages
>neofetch then scrot not neofetch -s
>290mb doing nothing
looks like you aren't actually doing anything with your computer
currently at 14.5/16 and I wish I would have bought 32g instead because I'd be using all that as well.
you should step up your minimalism as well, its possible to get into a X session with i3 under 50mb

Oh look, another RAMlet thread.

Closing out of Iridium and Wire Messenger has my Linux Mint idling at 637mb. With both on, I idle at 1514mb.

I use Windows 10 and my idle ram usage is 4.5GB. Is this good?

>java
stinky!

I've got 6 docker containers, 9 chrome tabs, a spotify client, and a riced spacemacs daemon with a bunch of buffers open all running on top of GNOME and i3 and I'm barely using 5 of my 8GB. caring about RAM usage is retarded unless you're regularly maxing it out. CPU usage on the other hand...

My work computer has 3 tabs open in chrome (all running google documents), and literally nothing else but background processes running, and it's using 3.2GB of RAM out of the 3.8GB that's available. I just closed chrome, and it's down to 2.3GB (58% of total RAM)

Meanwhile, running with 7 tabs open in my browser, one of which is a music video on youtube, GIMP, and a very active Wire conversation, I'm sitting at 2.3 GB out of the 16GB on my laptop from 2013 (using Mint 19.2 Cinnamon).

We literally got this computer less than a week ago. Why in the fuck would they buy a brand new computer with only 4GB of RAM for Windows 10?

5GB here, nothing that 2x8GB can't handle.

Because op is a faggot

wallpaper pls ?
