They are pretty much exactly like Western Europeans, just live in cheaper places so they can work for less.

I'm romanian.The hidden gems aren't really in plain sight but the average is definitely better and cheaper.
Goes for all eastern europeans really, but be aware that a new trend of codemonkeys REEing for higher pay in IT (socialism inherently) has also hit EE aswell. Do your research properly.
You could take the risk of hiring people with lower education or slimmer CVs. I can't speak for everyone obviously but from what I've seen people are more humble here.
Also you need to be more specific, are you including web gay devs? Because even EE is infested with rats who joined that industry "because it pays".

I am a sole trader in the UK, born in Poland.
Thinking about expanding the business a bit, so the first thought was to hire freelancers. If the company were bigger I would have no problem with hiring people, but it is not, so I think freelancers are the only thing I can afford.
I have been using fiverr a bit, but only for voice artists and designers, I guess I feel afraid to let anyone touch my codebase.

Anyway, my goal is to find a freelancer for longterm cooperation, I wish I could pay western wages, but I can't. All offers on fiverr are just one time projects, often limited to 1 source file. How do I find someone for a longterm cooperation?

Expect code monkeys, not proper programmers. Unless you can somehow guarantee you get proper programmers.
If you don't enforce standards, you won't get code that follows them.
There is a trend in poland of employing primarily people who "get" algorithms rather than patterns, which may be good for their company in the long term, but in short term it means that unless you pay a lot, you're going to get unskilled people who make beginner mistakes.

While countries like poland and russia are generally fucking retarded, ruled by subhumans and filled with genetic trash, there's still the part where "coders" are the very best people in those societies and so can be solid, despite their retarded roots.

So, basically, check results often, have at least some code review, give them objective goals.
If you need long term stuff, don't let them cut corners - if you let them, they will.
If you do all of those, they're solid.

Am a Ukrainian C++ dev. We're really good. It's the only industry where you can make decent money without doing any crimes, and quite a lot of people grow up on the Internet because life outside the computer screen is really bland, which leads to incredible amount of technical knowledge, great written English skills and unbreakable determination to get out of this shithole, even if it means working for 15 hours a day.

CD project red comes from Poland and they make some pretty decent games, so I'd say there's some talent there.

Do you live in third world Africa? Because that's the only place where it's legal to hire anyone you want for whatever reason. In the EU and US I can easily sue you if it is semi obvious i Was rejected because of for example my Jewish or Arabic sounding name. Even most of Asia it is an offense even excluding communists.

It is illegal. It's also kind of immoral.
My company is not even a real company, we are just a bunch of friends.
If that company ever grows I will hire any nationality, but I am not at that point yet. The language barrier alone makes it hard. It's helpful if I can speak to the freelancer in Polish or Russian or my Chinese friend can speak to his guys in Chinese.
With great power comes great responsibility, but I am just scraping by, I am happy that I can pay the rent without wagecucking.

There are a lot of shitty polack programmers tho, but then again there's a ton of shitty programmer's from my western country too.

A good example of a good YUROPOORZ programmer from 'Eastern """Europe""", is Egor Homakov, he was a literal shut in living in middle of nowhere Russia and hacked github because he found a flaw in Ruby. At the time he was making $6/hr as a 'senior developer' in Russia.

Read his medium articles sometimes, dude is based, calls out every cryptocurrency for various security flaws. He learned because he had to, there was nothing else available in his Russian province except starvation or programming remotely.

East European and West Russian programmers are top tier.

The biggest problem is that there are too many jews that larp as programmers and get jobs because of nepotism, while actually they are incapable of any thinking. Eastern europe is full of such kikes. They are the dumbest kikes you can find and that is saying much.

They also create a very toxic environment and steal other people's work, which they can't even understand. If you ever find a kike like that, better get him exposed as the fraud he is, so he won't harm the whole team.
