4790K here instead.
Also fuck you AMD, make more 3900Xs so I can actually buy your shit at MSRP.

4690k here, even after a couple of years it still works perfectly.

Imagine how rare the 3950X is going to be, given how much trouble they seem to be having binning 3900Xs.

Plain 4790 here. Planning to pair it with a 5700 XT for 1440p gaming at 144hz.

Regular 4770

It just werks

i was 4790 gang until i upgraded to 9700 gang

4770k gtx 760 here
should I upgrade to used 980 ti for $100 or a new 1660 ti for $250?
1080p 60 is what I use

4590 gang
wanted to buy a 4770k on ebay and overclock for a nice boost but they're like $200 wtf? may as well upgrade to a new socket at that point.

1660

Got a 4770k it was ok, really showing its age today though.

>really showing its age today though.
does it fuck,at least for games it certainly doesnt

4930K is this time for an upgrade ?

4770k and 1080ti reporting in.

SC good, MC not so good. Waiting for 3950x so I can use it for 5+ years like my 4770k.

4790k here, no plans to upgrade yet

4670k representan

no

Tell me how I know you're 14

4690k here, just ordered a 2070 SUPER like a fucking retard, gonna love my 50 percent bottleneck

tell me how I know you're 19

4790 here. Have an Ryzen 2700 sitting on the floor in the other room and am in no hurry to swap out.
Single-threaded is no better, and even though I encode, in assembling a release there are other limitations that really govern the schedule other than the time it takes to encode.
More cores to make a faster encode and a SSD to make demuxing/muxing faster really just make the process more comfortable to do, they don't significantly add to the volume going out the door.

Former 4770k here, sorry bros but I saved some cash and upgraded to a 9900k for my birthday last month.

Gonna wait a few years before I upgrade my 1080 FTW though.

4790k and 980 still working pretty good only wish the gpu would stay colder

if it's below 90 it's fine.

4770 on its second motheboard

Just get a 4k monitor

3770K on its second motherboard

3750k here
>starting to need an octa-core

I don't even fucking want to imagine. 3950X MSRP is $750 already. A $500 3900X already costs $750-$1000+ where I live, so a 3950X I imagine will be entirely astronomical when it comes out.

4790k, currently trying to get a 3900x but seems hopeless

5820k here. Will 2020 be the year of the upgrade for Haswell fags?

5675c here

2019/2020 will be common i'd think

>couple

4790(non-k. Lenovo workstation) here. Paired with a SFF 1050ti and 16gb. Its comfy, and relatively cheap(I think it was ~$450cnd total last year)

every nice.

why do they put processors in such big boxes when they're like 2"x2"

they usually have coolers included, and other possible reason is because they are quite valuable

4790k here.

Been running it overclocked to 4.7 GHz since week one and it's still going strong.

Mine's lost 0.2 GHz of overclock and it also runs hotter than it used to.

>OC'ed my $20 X5670 to 4.20
>beats a OC'ed 3 generation newer $135 CPU
what

Attached: cinebenchR15.png (395x220, 11K)

I guess miners are hoarding them for Monero's RandomX hardfork.

>who /4770k/ here?
Poorfags.

>delid this

I had one, it caught fire

i7-3770K (8 CPU) 3.5 Ghz

H-how is it? I'm planning on upgrading within the next 6-8 months anyway.

What do you mean how is it? If you have one, you should know how it is. You're not considering purchasing such an old CPU, are you?

> McAfee

But why them out of several other better av companies to partner with?

the good or bad kind of fire

No I was just wondering what someone might think about it. Its been doing me well for nearly seven years and I think only recently became the recommended CPU.

I want an upgrade for emulation mainly. I think my i7-3770K is a little too dated for some of the recent consoles.

4690k here
It's certainly showing its age in games where shittons of stuff happens likes hordes during Vermintide 2. Will get 3600 once I save enough money.

A new CPU would give you around 20-25% more single-thread performance.

Oh boy, cinebench. My favorite game.

that cpu doesn't exist

>I think my i7-3770K is a little too dated for some of the recent consoles.
Are you running into any clear CPU bottlenecks? Anything else you could do to increase performance?

Same processor, just hate that it runs so hot. Can't do shit at max as it easily hits 90-100C. It's my processor until it or the motherboard takes a shit.

It does run hot since it still uses thermal jizz instead of being soldered to the IHS, I have it OC'd to 4.7GHz too. I don't think I've seen mine hit 90-100C though.

4690k here as well. I love the little guy and it does surprisingly well on 144+ fps on a good amount of titles but I've been feelings the sting on a couple like Prey and GTA V (I'm slow with releases).

I've upgraded to a 3700x from a 4770k. I don't notice any difference. Cinebench is pretty fast though

4670K
I kind of want to upgrade but there's no real need

i3-4130 here
it just werks

I have an i5 6600 that fried itself for no apparent reason after 3 years of working flawlessly. I've never had a processor die on me before.

E8400 here

i7 7700k
it's doing just fine with my 1080ti

I recently got a 3770 for $75 to replace my 3450. Did I meme myself?

6700 Skylake, am I invited?

4790 here

Hi

4770k no upgrade plans yet

Another 4790k here will keep it until the Mobo dies. Hope it'll last another year or two

4790 here. Is it worth using an Adata XPG SX8200 Pro M.2 SSD with it?

got my 4670k at 4.5 until it blows up

I still have this for some reason.

Attached: FX-8350.png (428x421, 59K)

I7-4790k here

I assembled a ryzen 7 3700X last month and even though it's faster I certainly could have wait a bit longer before upgrading.

4770K master race here

I just ditched my i5-4440 for a Ryzen 5 2600x

Fucking glad I'm rid of that shit. May have kept it if it was a 4770k tho

4770k reporting in. No need to upgrade. Even browsers with 1000 tabs loading just become slow from tripping over themselves and not from pushibg this guy to 100%

Regular 4670 here that I got cheap off of ebay 4-5 years ago. Probably going to keep using it for another 2-3 years too. Same with my 980 Ti. Should I have tried to find a cheap 4670k? Sure. I'm still not mad though, it's lasting me a really long time for a $120 cpu. Probably going to do the same with Zen2 when I do upgrade.

>that user that keeps falling for the "just wait for Zen #"

I might do a ryzen 3000 build sometime but I'm dumping money into other things.

You may as well wait for zen 4 at this point and beta test it for me.

I just might, hopefully AM4 will transission into DDR5, and we'll see some chips with dual memory controllers so you can use it on your X570, then upgrade to the next high end board SKU and keep your chip.

>AM4 will transission into DDR5
I hope your wallet is lined to the brim. Koreangook is going to get your good for wanting that.

Rly?

You might as well continue waiting for am5 to drop and dump money into that instead. You'll be guaranteed support longevity and be able to upgrade cpus 3 years after your initial buy.

yeah user is just asking for ram to be expensive again

How long can one expect a 9700k to last if bought now?

based. still remembering buying it for 180 euro back in 2008

how long will my delidded 8700k at 5GHz be good for

based
had the same setup and upgraded to a 1070, still works perfectly

Is it wrong to keep using Haswell because I love Windows 7?

Windows 7 is the reason I'm still using AMD FX and am gonna keep this hardware around, this particular mobo will literally run Windows XP 32bit all the way to modern OSes.

boomer here. IT manager for the last 12 years but honestly I don't understand the concept of virtualisation especially when it comes to networks

You understand what a VLAN is, right?

4670K here, still feel no need to upgrade

still on 3930K going strong, no need to upgrade. Sandy Bridge is ultimate /comfy/

Attached: chr0151.jpg (1024x900, 80K)

I can't believe i managed to run the 4770K for hours every day throughout the last 4 years worth of hot summers, with the stock cooler. I replaced it two months ago with the Hyper 212 EVO and applied the usual Arctic MX-4 thermal compound, worked like a charm to keep it quiet, even under load. Doesn't go past 70C.

Too bad I can't do any overclocking due to my poverty motherboard (ASR H81M), lest i should delid the CPU. It doesn't matter anymore i suppose, as in addition to the new workstation that is under construction, I'm selling this one and the assortment of other parts to anyone with Sandy Bridge
who wishes to upgrade.

I'm replacing this with an equivalent Ryzen system (R7 2700) to better my need for workstation tasks whilst being covered by the cost of selling this, hopefully within the year. I'm replacing my artifacting 280X with the 290X because I didn't even think about RMAing the card at least 2 months ago before the warranty expired. Not that it matters now, considering I removed the 'Warranty Void if Removed' sticker to apply new thermal compound.
