Wtf do HDDs have an expriation date?
Joshua Ward
Ryan Cooper
So they can sell memes like SSDs
Austin Hughes
You can only spin them so many times. Kind of like my heart.
Nicholas Hernandez
Imagin being THAT poor
William Howard
>he doesn't refrigerate his hdds
Nathan Smith
>he doesn't refrigerate and liquid cool his hdds
Wyatt Parker
That's not an expiration date. That is just looking at the overall health and estimating it will die. Since it is so healthy, it cannot give a real estimate so it just says longer than X days.
Jonathan Taylor
do you need a hug?
Asher Nelson
Hudson Butler
Should have gotten a SSD.
Jaxon Bailey
everything does
including you
Julian Cruz
1337+487=1824
1825 days is 5 years. It's just estimating that HDDs last 5 years in average.
Isaac Watson
That lines up. 3 years of use, at least another 2 remaining. Most physical drives can be expected to last about 5 years. Of course many will last longer, but 5 is the norm.
Samuel Campbell
>estimated
well done OP
Cooper Jones
Keep in mind, this estimates 487 days of on time. as in if you use it 8 hours per day that's another 1,461 of real days left or 4 more years.
Angel Lee
All hard drives will die as the fail curve bathtub becomes more like a rock climbing wall over time
Justin Phillips
5 years estimate
maybe for your Seagates and Wds. Samsungs and Hitachis master race
Ian Lee
Hitachi is owned by WD and not immune to the laws of physics
Michael Long
how can I check it?
hw info only shows percents
Noah Diaz
Samsung seems to be tho, I have some 40GB IDE drives and they don't even have bad blocks after all these years.
Easton Johnson
You don't write to them, at least if you aren't insane.
A typical drive will last about 6 years of use, and probably a few more if you chance it.
Logan Allen
I use them like 5-6 times in a month. They are fine.
Matthew James
HD Sentinel
Lucas Morris
>500 day
user that's like 5 years or so, no one runs his HDD all day.
James Howard

Chase Flores
@72462340
>such a storagelet he has rarely accessed drives
Jayden Brown
>such a storagelet that he doesn't have rarely accessed drives
Blake Hughes
Lower the capacity, lower the drive life. Get a 970 Pro or something if you want longevity
