I turn on my PC, the fans turn on but it doesnt start. It has been giving me problems when booting up for a while ( disk error - press ctrl alt del, then after like 3 or 4 attempts it would start ) but never this bad.
ADDITIONAL INFO Pic related, those LEDs turn on and if I press ctrl alt and del they turn off. No change in the fans spinning throughout this. It's NOT the hard drive! It gave me those problems with my old drive, I bought a brand new SSD and they persisted. Then a couple of months later it degenerated into this. It does turn on if I cut the power and turn it back on, but at like the 20th attempt, and even then after a half hour of use it freezes and I have to cut the power.
My suspicion is the motherboard is RIP, but ehat's Jow Forums's take on this?
It could also be a bad CPU, maybe even ram. Run memtest. If you get freezing during a memtest it is more likely to be CPU. if memtest works and no ram errors, then more like to be motherboard. Try stressing the CPU making sure to use software that activates all the cpu features. Motherboard and CPU problems can be hard to correctly diagnose, the simplest is to swap the components and see if the problems stop, the more difficult is to use special tools and software to diagnose the problem. These things are why I keep around spare parts.
Carter Watson
you're on wrong board, this is not tech support, read the rules dumbo
Aaron Gray
i hope your computer breaks you tech illiterate neckbeard faggot. no (you) for (((you)))
Kayden Parker
Elaborate or fuck off
The spare parts I have are not compatible with my current motherboard sadly, except for RAM and an old GPU. I'll try the RAM swap right now
Alexander Brown
put it thru the dishwasher, let it dry in the sun for a few days then try again. sometimes dirt/dust buildup changes capacitance which leads to problematic intermittance.
Levi Torres
install gentoo
Jose Myers
this, worked for me once with an old junker i had.
Andrew Miller
also if your dishwasher is too small you can also use a washing machine
Grayson Price
I removed all the sticks of RAM and put in different ones but it didnt change anything. If I manage to turn it on I'll run that memtest like user suggested
Jayden Bell
Where do you live that washing machines have more space than dishwashers?
Gabriel Thompson
Fuck off fag read the rules
Dominic Perry
this is a pretty grim sign sorry mate time for a new machine
Alexander Martin
I bet you don't go all sperg rage on those offtopic porn threads
Ryder Myers
no (you) for this fat masturbating fag, remember to report
Nathan Clark
Ah another thing I tried just a month ago was replacing the CPU thermal paste.
Christian Miller
you can keep self bumping your illegal thread, ill keep saging (((you))) faggot SAGE SAGE SAGE MODS MODS MODS
Cameron Allen
You can't announce a sage, dickhead And where should I go for this kind of thing anyways?
did you try unplugging and plugging it back in again?
Lucas Martinez
Stop posting this bullshit, brainlet. It's been disproven already.
Christian Reyes
>someone has a computer issue NNOOOOO SAGE SAGE SAGE REPORT NO YOU FOR YOUUU >porn thread hmmm yes fap fap fap cum in my brain
Josiah Morgan
Why mad boi?
Brody Harris
>since I need free tech support my thread should get to stay, even though it was explicitly mentioned in the rules Not how it works, you can try hiding inside the Stupid Questions Thread instead of making your own thread
>thermal paste possibly used to much and slowly cooked your CPU
Are you getting any POST beeps or codes? You might try a new power supply, a bad one can cause all kinds of funky shit
Ryan Long
Last time I looked at the mirror I wasn't black. You whiteknight that hoe. LMAO
Dominic Diaz
Problem was there before I changed thermal paste and was still there after it. Also I know how to apply it correctly. >Are you getting any POST beeps or codes? That's the thing, when I assembled my PC I connected only the power button to the motherboard, there's no little speaker that makes the beep. Anyways I'm writing this from my PC. I rebooted it five times in a row and it worked each time, it makes no damn sense. I tried memtest three times. First time it did everything right and brought me to a config where I'd select what to do with the test, I hit exit thinking it would exit the config and start the test but it actually rebooted everything. Second and third time I tried using it it got stuck at "testing multiprocessor support" This irregularity is very annoying.
Luis Russell
>whiteknight Lmao, how dumb are you?
Jason Jackson
Super dump, but I know that you fap to that thot allot. Virgin.
Jaxson Moore
Some motherboards have a code display on the board that will give diagnostic codes in addition to beeps. Also, hook the damn speaker up, this is one of the reasons it exists.
Just because you know how to apply paste"correctly" doesnt mean you actually do. There are several different ways that depend on processor and heat sink type.
Seriously, swap the power supply.
Zachary Morgan
If you're OP you can fuck off. Beyond obvious what the issue is. Hmmmmmmm my computer seems to work but it can't read a file to boot the OS off the HARD DRIVE.... I bet it's the RAM!!! Fucking moron pissing on people trying to help when OP is the retard.
Luke Long
Sounds like either your motherboard, PSU, or your CPU is beyond fucked.
>you have to be fapping to her if you don't believe these stupidly fabricated numbers on this pic! This is how stupid (or "dump") you are
Christopher Cox
Remove everything atached to the mb except the ram
Joseph Peterson
Nah
Hunter Gutierrez
PSU is recent and solid, I doubt it's the issue. My money is on the motherboard. There have been weird little things that point to the MB not being all there, for example if I plug in a jack then my keyboard will get unplugged for like 30 seconds half the time. It's an old ass case that I used because I didn't want to buy a new one, there isn't a speaker and no jacks and USB ports on the front either, I only use the ones attached to the MB
Are you two done talking about that caked up mouthbreather?
Hudson Kelly
Then maybe it's the sata cable/connector from the motherboard you fucking retarded fuck
This
Logan Sullivan
The cables are new, I ordered them with the SSD. I'll try different ports and see what happens, it's working fine so far so I will try next time it gives me problems
Nathan Cox
they are significantly more interesting than this
Evan Moore
You know what fuck you dude. People here are giving you legitimate answers as to what might be causing the problem and how to find out. But every time, you claim that cant be whats wrong because of some reason. Its entirely possible that even new parts are bad. Especially since everything is chink shit now, just because a cable is new does not mean its any good. It isnt likely to be the problem but it certainly could be. However, you already know everything, so why the fuck are you asking questions here, asshat.
Caleb Lopez
Das one cute kitter user, yours?
Ethan Cook
Unironically this
Hunter Gray
Try replacing the CMOS battery. Had a booting issue a few months ago and after some fucking around i found the battery was reading below 3volts.
Austin Bell
>wtf why are you mean when I call you retard Also I did follow what people are saying here. I literally said next time I have this problem I'll do what you said
