I had a zenfone 2 whose cpu is faster than most current snapdragon shit.

2.5 watts is TDP, so it's peak. It won't use 2.5w all the time. More than likely it'll clock down to like 0.25-0.5w when doing mundane shit/nothing.

Having said that 2.5w is still too much to be put in a phone. However I can see with some R&D this going down over the next few years

It's really an unspoken crux of ARM but the only reason it even got on phones in the first place was because the x86 alternative is too expensive to make "smartphones" profitable.

If any smartphone manufacturer wanted to they could sell a whiskey lake x86 Android based phone fully capable of KVM x86 virtual machine emulation through QEMU. Possibly make it be able to natively boot to windows 10 out of the box. Problem is the chip itself would cost like $100 and the phone would only be profitable to sell for like $1,500 since so few people would even buy it in the first place.

Compare that to a $20 snapdragon SoC most people expect to find on the specs of their phone.

I'll buy it, I want off the Android train.
