Is there a way to stop Windows 10 from forgetting a monitor, even if disconnected?

I have three monitors. My middle (main) monitor can switch between HDMI and DisplayPort inputs, so I use it for my consoles.
I keep my other two monitors on for browsing and music. However, when I'm switched away from the PC for long enough, Windows 10 freaks out, forgets the main display, and all my windows jumble around treating my two side monitors as the only displays. Then I have to reconfigure the GSYNC stuff again every time.
I don't care that there would be a "phantom" display that I can't see if I switch the input. If I needed to see what's there, I can effortlessly switch back to DP.

What a coincidence. I have the exact same setup.
But my monitor has dual HDMI and Windows 10 handles it perfectly, even after several hours.
My guess is that my monitor (Benq GC2870) does not actually turn off the input signals and Windows 10 thinks it's still connected.

When I've looked into this problem in the past, it looked like it could have been a problem with DisplayPort. So if this doesn't happen to you on dual HDMI, that might be it. Or it's my monitor, a Dell S2716DG.

Some monitors with DP ports have a settings for that.
Otherwise Windows shouldn't forget the setup, at least when you have the setting for it. Can't remember what it's called.

I use six at work, three and three combo. Top three are used for monitoring and watching price charts. Bottom ones for working, two IDEs and one for email, chat, browser etc.
