Why would anyone use a 1440p monitor? Do they really just enjoy having everything scale horribly?

Get 1080p for high refresh rates or 4k for resolution. 1440p is straight up retard-bait at this point.

But my 2080ti ensures I get high refresh rate WITH 1440p
>t. Not a poor fag

Everything supports 1440p now user, its still 16:9. Get with the times.

1440p doesn't integer scale from 1080p or 4K. Just because it's 16:9 doesn't mean it's immune to scaling issues

1440p is 4x720p

I want a 4x 1366x768 display so bad

But 4K makes everything tiny unless you use shitty blurry DPI scaling or get a screen that's uncomfortably large to use as a monitor. And 1080p is awfully low DPI at 27".

I have both, a 4k 60hz for 1080p and 4k media, and a 1440p 144hz for gaming.

Don't be dumb user, 1080p 144hz is lame shit compared to 1440p 144hz.

>uncomfortably large to use as a monitor
You've obviously never owned one, or used one for long.

With a large enough desk, a large 4k panel is amazing.

Am I supposed to sit so close to it that I have to crane my head around to see all of it? Or far enough that I have to use DPI scaling to read shit?

Neither.

I use a 43" 4k panel at about 3 and a half feet, with 100% GUI scale, I can still read text without issue. AND it's far enough back to not take up my entire field of vision.

Maybe if you have shit eyesight it'll be an issue, but as a far sighted person, i have no problem with it at 3 to 3 and a half feet.

That being said, it IS my media consumption monitor, so I generally am not using it for reading text all that often, though it does occasionally happen, but it's not an issue due to the reasons listed above.

link to the monitor?

16:9 was one of the most infuriating computer-related things to ever happen. If you want superior 16:10 you have to get something old or high-end niche.

1440p is the dumbest shit I've ever seen, it's holding back good 4k panels with high refresh rate

On the bright side, pretty much EVERYTHING expects 16:9 or 21:9 these days, making things much simpler for the average consumer.

Integer scaling is objectively garbage for anything other than pixel art. Read this.

Its better than my 24 inch 1080p 144hz and its 144hz. One day i will upgrade to a 32 inch 4k 144hz i guess.

The fuck does any of that have to do with integer scaling?

It's pretty simple, if you don't have an integer scale you're going to end up warping things no matter what. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to see why

Although I agree, 1440p is a meme resolution.

>mfw still 1600x900 smol monitor

>not choosing resolution based on monitor size
1440p is perfect for 27" -- the patrician's size -- monitors. 4k for anything larger and 1080p for anything lower.

I got mine when 4k vidyas wasn't really an option but 1080p was too piss easy for top end graphics cards

>scaling
>1440p
Guess you should've listened to your mom and not sit so close in-front of the TV.

Shut the fuck up retard

I went from 1080 to 1440 to 4k.
And honestly, 1440p is kinda pointless.
It doesn't look muh better than 1080p, and it's far more demanding to hardware.
I'LL stick to 4k for my rendering station.
Easier to work with overall.

where are our 4:3 chads at?

Because there are no actually good 4K monitors yet

You'll never go back from a 32" 4K monitor, just don't be a desklet.

You only need a 32" monitor or more to use 4k unscaled
