The "VPN" isn't a VPN. It's just a bunch of remote proxies. And the monitor the sites you visit.
I was d/l from a couple of obscure forgotten sites and suddenly they became unavailable via Opera's VPN.
They are still accessable otherwise.

I haven't heard of the parent company being caught with anything, but I decided to go with DuckDuckGo browser, I just wanted Opera as a spare browser for incognito mode, but DDG works better.
