Shure SE535s and a decent DAC. I like it because it didn’t cost audiophool money and still sounds great.

Listening to horses around you eating grass makes you the most productive programmer.

went to check these out and they have varied cost between 54 and 680 dollars...

If you buy expensive headphones over the cheapest listing, you WILL get a Chinese tinny and mushy sounding copy.

I listen to ambient rain:

Bought a pair of JBL Loft 30 for 15 euros at the thrift today.
I'm wary of low end JBL (gave away control 1's and sold lx2001) but they looked very cute and have a 1 inch soft dome instead of the tiny laminate tweeter.
Noticeable bump in the low(ish) end that's not bad using them on stands, brilliant imaging, good for voice reproduction.

that's a great deal

I saw a pair of Rogers ls8 there last week. But when I inquired about them I was told they had just been brought in and would go to their central depot to be tested first before going up for sale in one of their multiple stores.

I know nothing about audio, whenever I need new headphones I just pick a random one off of audiobudget.com's leaderboard, am currently using $10 Rock Zircons. Are they good? Are they shit? Who the fuck knows?

>with artillery and gunfire
wow

when the price is low the price is right

if they sound good then they're good

Koss ESP/95X
Modi 2U DAC

I really like the Koss. They're incredible clear, very open, and the most comfortable headphones I've ever used thanks in part to how light they are. I use a mild EQ adjustment under 100db and bass is quite good down to about ~25-30hz where it rolls off and distorts if you boost it too much. They aren't perfect, the biggest flaw seems to be that they're susceptible to occasional strange electrical noises.

The Modi 2U works well enough, I bought it a few years ago. I'm tempted to swap it for something with more gucci specs like a D50S but I question where the audible threshold really is.

Nice. Pro-tip for budding audio enthusiasts. If you see a white van cruising around a Walmart parking, flag it down. They're usually professional home theater installers who have a few extra high end speaker sets they need to unload. Those fine fellas will do you right.

I got brand spanking new Olin Ross 5.1 set for 200.00! The soundstage is immense, the tonal accuracy would make a classical music conductor weep, the bass is heart stopping.

Lol.

after loving these for about two weeks it became clear that they overemphasize the midrange and the "loudness" spectrum; still very nice for 3 or 4 dollars a piece if one plays things at low to medium levels only

Always wanted a pair of these since I first saw them back in high school in the late 80's.

Going to buy a pair of Presonus Eris 4.5 for a reasonable upgrade without going overboard. Am I about to fuck up?

What are you coming from and can you describe what you expect from the investment?

mod the xo, bro

Nice rug.

>garbage
>not garbage

I basically took a specific price point, looked at what's available here(EU peasant), and found something that seems well reviewed/recommended. I specifically don't want to go more expensive because it's a good price point to where I won't feel bad about upgrading in the future if I decide I care enough.

Thanks. Each room has one.

Including the smallest?

No small rooms here, sir.

I mean, it does say Xtreme... With an X.... So, it has to be audiophile grade equipment.

Sony XM2. As an owner of some actual gear, these are pretty amazing. Long battery life, great noise cancelling, sound quality is actually pretty great.

Gonna get the XM3 when these break or smell too bad. The XM3 has problems in cold weather apparently.

Just picked up a pair of these Mission 77DS for $20 & I think I might throw them in a cheap 7.1 setup for my office. Will I be making a mistake by throwing these as rears for a 7.1 setup?

My primary use will be movies and some mil-sim games.

I got pic related recently cause I don't have the space for proper floor-standing speakers. Now it plays some of the clearest jazz I have ever heard and it's also great for movies. I tried playing some Justice and it raped my ears, I don't know if the response is just too neutral but it was awful.

My phone + kz zs3's with memory foam tips.
They fit my ears perfectly, sometimes I feel like I'm gonna get run over by some bus when I'm jaywalking since I can't hear jack shit when I wear these.
I also bought some chink shit Bluetooth earbuds called qcy qs1, they work fine but the microphone on the damn thing sucks ass so I usually leave it at home.

Never seen these speakers before. I'll take a wild guess and say Tannoy, since they made some huge control monitors. How do they sound?

if the speaker impedances match and the missions aren't boomy then they should be fine

Your brain has evolved hearing sound bounce off the ground and not the open sky. Long story short: you should stick that carpet to the ceiling.

good sound isolation

You can get floor bounce without absorption, which means a reflective wave from the floor can cancel out or constructively interfere with another wave, resulting in suck outs, coloration, etc. I agree on your point that humans evolved to listen in reflective spaces, which is why I think turning your listening room into an anechoic chamber is counterproductive.

I want a cheap pair of neutral IEMs until my main pair is fixed/replaced. What chink shit under $20 should I get?

The ideal listening room is like a shoebox on its side. High ceiling. Long sidewalls. Little front-to-back bounce.

Attached: 363.jpg (713x800, 88K)

You don't kill all echos user. Nobody has ever said that

I was being facetious about people wanting to turn their rooms into an anechoic chamber, but there are room treatment spastics who are quasi-religious about treating the shit out of everything, like Ethan Winer (who happens to sell room treatment, so take that for what it's worth).

This is overkill, with how good off-axis response in modern speakers. And multi-sub does more for the

Attached: Room.jpg (480x360, 36K)

I use horns though. Plus that doesn't really seem excessive to me more ugly than anything

The floor bounce is always assumed to exist as a part of natural timbre heard by grounded animals, colorations and all. Elimination of the mirror image from below is impossible without suspending the listening space above the ground. Concerns about comb interference from non-coincident sources are a bit of a false scent as the ear-brain "windowing" is clearly frequency-dependent.

Amazing, to be honest. And you are right, those are Tannoy.
