/pcbg/ - PC Building General

ATTENTION: Graphics card prices are excessive by historical standards; therefore, consumers should delay or completely forgo any midrange to high end graphics card purchases. The gouging has two root causes: lack of market competition and shortage/"new normal" pricing during the mining hayday.

does anyone know what fractal case that is?

Is a Dark Rock 4 enough for the 9900K? Will not do any overclocking.

Yes

i used a 32" tv for years with ca 80cm distance

Reposting my question from the last thread.
tl;dr:

Thank you :)

Still waiting for a good 5700xt to be available

Attached: 5c0f9604a5ac610b3343816a-750-563[1].jpg (750x563, 87K)

stop linking that PC build guide video, it's trash

>2070 super FE finally back in stock
>but they've increased the price from £475 to £489
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Now I'm right back to square one, looking at how much cheaper the 5700xt is for only slightly less performance. £380 for a blower 5700xt (since I'm going to eventually water cool anyway) makes the 2070s 29% more expensive now. Can I still justify that?

You need to add the cost for a block too.

>red devil at 550 eur
fucking scalpers

>FE
literally why?

>finally replace my 6 years old system
>waiting for asus 5700 models
>give up and go with the sapphire pulse instead
>Meshify C is out of stock EVERYWHERE in the EU
Man, I wanted to avoid having to build this in my old case, it's so bad to build in.

If you're going with water, which has better potential for overclocking? I seem to remember someone saying the 5700xt is fairly limited in how far it can be pushed over stock, but I don't really know how that compares to the 2070 super (if true).

2060 Super or 5700? They're exactly the same price in my country

Why pay extra for an AIO fan if it's going to be replaced by a water block anyway?

Ok /pcbg/ shill me your best monitor with these specs:
- 27"
- 144hz
- freesync
- vesa mount
- TN VA IPS all ok, quality over tech
- €600 max

fractal meshify c

The new LG NanoIPS

27" IPS panel
144hz
Freesync (but G-sync certified)
100x100mm VESA mount
$499 USD.

Also has 2-3ms G2G (though it claims 1ms, that's only with the fastest preset that has a ton of overshoot) Still THE fastest IPS panel for pixel response times currently on the market.

It's not an actual guide, more like a meme/it's legos than anything else

Either that new LG nano IPS monitor or the Aorus AD27QD that came out this past year. Based on reviews the LG panel has great response times and color but really bad contrast, whereas the Aorus has better contrast but a bit worse response times. The overdrive settings also seem to be giving some people problems. The LG is out of stock everywhere so you're probably gonna be waiting a while for that.

has anyone tried putting on the chromax corner pads on the regular tan noctua fans? I was thinking of maybe getting a set of white or grey to soften the looks a bit compared to the brown corners they normally come with

it goes back in-stock on amazon regularly.

I've seen it pop up 4 times in the last 2 weeks, though it sells out VERY quickly.

Any recommendations on software for monitoring System Temps such as CPU and shit?
Cooler is getting to the point it may shit the bed and I wanna know when its coming so i can get a new one.

>but really bad contrast
It's not really bad contrast though, it's 850:1, which is pretty standard for an IPS panel, there are some that will hit around 1000:1, but 850:1 is still pretty common if you look at various IPS panels from the last year or two, many will be in a similar range around 800-900:1.

The AD27QD is one of the few IPS panels that actually manages 1100:1 static contrast, and as you said, it makes up for it with much slower pixel response.

not budget boy you are replying to, but ive been eyeballing the 32 inch freesync VA panel.
How would it fare compared to the nano IPS?

VA will always have the contrast ratio advantage

forgot to state the model.
LG 32GK650F-B

lg.com/us/monitors/lg-32GK650F-B-gaming-monitor

Very interesting that LG, thanks.

>>ATTENTION: Graphics card prices are excessive by historical standards; therefore, consumers should delay or completely forgo any midrange to high end graphics card purchases. The gouging has two root causes: lack of market competition and shortage/"new normal" pricing during the mining hayday.

Should also add this "due to no point in upgrading cause new games are shit or you don't play new games anymore"

Tips for getting a black gf?

For a $500 IPS monitor that's pretty poor. Going off of tftcentral's review it has one of the lowest contrast ratios of all the IPS monitors they've reviewed. Not as bad as some TN panels but still. Hell, even rtings mentioned that the contrast was really subpar for an IPS panel on their review.

How overkill is a 5700xt for 1080p/ 144hz?

t. mindless comsumer whore

I'm fucking glad I'm out of the gaming scene. No more having to pluck down $200 or more for a quality card to get high fps and quality from new titles when they come out.

Can kick back and enjoy my existing games and save my cash for other shit. Games are shit anymore. Either re-hashes of what's been done or "remakes" of classics but they totally fuck them up so the end result is nothing like the classic game its based on.

Take the AMD pill

>xd im such a nihilst

i did for my CPU ...

but i will stay with my 1080 for a long time

can you turn off that edgy red devil sign?

well intel doesn't exist anymore but the waiting and the scares pushed me away from the 5700.

Picking an AMD cpu was an easy choice. The GPU decision is proving much harder.

I wanted to but then I got a free i9.

are curved monitors a good or bad meme?

I've ordered an ultrawide, so I'm hoping for good meme.

at 27" or under you basically don't notice it.

For larger panels it becomes more noticeable but is only really needed for ultrawide panels, especially larger ones.

I kind of like it, I keep going between light blue and white but it looks stupid when it says red devil

pulse is great, quieter than my strix 1070 was

I have this old lady in my built along with an i5 2500k running on a piece of shit Asrock Z68 Pro3 Mainboard.

Would updating to a newer GPU result in better gaming experience or would I need to update the whole system? What GPU would you recommend? I don't want to spend more than 200 bucks on this.

Attached: 255-front.small.jpg (524x270, 35K)

if your use is mixed - bad
if you only play and watch something -good

Yes, a new GPU would go a long way, but depending on what games you're playing, you WILL be bottlenecked by a 2500k.

If you only have a $200 budget, just stick with your 2500k for now but save up for something in the future.

Buy a GTX 1660.

I did. And it feels good.

Cont Thanks kurahen user from I guess that's finally a wrap
With some suggestions I've dropped from 3239PLN(814 USD) to 2449(616USD)
My use case is focused 1080@60 as I got used to it and I don't see any reasons to go higher
I would occasionally connect to 4K screen to play some racing games (Dirt Rally) or play some videos

Freebies:
- Hitachi 3TB HDD from old server. Good for porn storage and such
- Some used 1080 screens

I do not like tweaking CPUs, it gets me top 6 core perf out of box.

how does the GTX 1660 compare to AMD Vega series? on gpu.userbenchmark.com AMD seems to provide more performance for value

What's the best nvidia gpu for 1080p 144hz at high/ultra right now?

AMD's shit compatibility with older windows games makes AMD a tough recommendation unless you know for a fact the games you play are fine with AMD drivers.

rule of thumb: do not get vega unless no other monetary choice

hi, you are still fervently pushing this meme? good on you, lad, memes don't make themselves

lmao, by AMDs own admission, they wont be fixing older titles that they break with driver updates, so why the fuck do you insist it's a meme?

honestly vega isn't the best series of gpu that amd made
unless you have a very beefy PSU to sustain the massive Watt spikes
get a 5700 instead

He claimed he had a $200 budget, the 5700 blows that out of the water. Cheapest ones are $150 above his budget.

because you are lying shill and i'm tired of you.
you are right about KOTOR though, give you that

a shit
well maybe a 590 could do

Nice

For a second I imaginated the stupid card actually saying "RED DEVIL" on a shitty toy like speaker with an edgy voice, hahahaha

not him but
>you are a lying shill even tho you made a solid point about amd having lesser support on older games
do you even read yourself

I'm a lying shill, but i'm also right. Lmao okay whatever you say shill.

I had an HD 5770, a 7950, and an RX 260 (in a different build from the HD 7950).

But i've since moved to Nvidia GPUs due to better power draw, and better support for older titles.

I personally play KOTOR about once a year, a full playthrough. And other older games get played frequently enough where i don't want to rely on a lottery to hope AMD hasn't fucked another older game I want to play.

>3900x out of stock

rev up those F5 keys boys, cause we're in for a race

1 good point and 3 false points.
tw1 - false
quantum break - false
sacrifice - false
and he has no other points because it's the only games nvidia marketing could find that misbehave

>ATTENTION: Graphics card prices are excessive by historical standards; therefore, consumers should delay or completely forgo any midrange to high end graphics card purchases. The gouging has two root causes: lack of market competition and shortage/"new normal" pricing during the mining hayday.
based

You're confusing me for someone else, just so you know.

I don't have or play any of those games

there's only going to be 10 3950x's available for purchase in september, the next 10 will be available in october, and then another 5 in december

I chuckled.

well he's not wrong by any means, but these shitty practices doesnt justify over 60% increased price in your GPU for less than 10% boosts

Any news on when GPU prices may drop?

It's still a question of "if" as much as "when".

they'll drop if amd releases something juicy this fall, and again next year. there will also be some major sales.

Should I wait for black friday/cyber monday deals to finally pull the trigger on my build?
Do you really think we are gonna see any deals on 8gb gpu's?

Also final question, to anyone who got pc parts during last year BF/CM, is it true they were cheap because they used refurbished parts but sold as brand new? Can someone confirm this?

Thanks for reading

Attached: Folder.jpg (200x200, 17K)

3900x is rejected 3950x, the 3950x did not score that many bad ccx so rev up your engines.

>just finished assembling my first pc
>mobo doesn't post
time to kms

Anyone?

based

even the 2080 ti can't get every game to 144fps on ultra

if you can wait you should probably wait, there's always tons of deals and you would save money on a lot of parts if you want to
but then again it's always a clusterfuck shopping on those days and stock runs out on the best deals so who knows

i just blew 1k eurodollars on parts and this post gives me the cold sweats

here's hoping i don't retard it up when i start building

Vega 56 is around 40% faster than the 1660.
Don't use userbenchmark.
The downside of vega is though the average power consumption could be worse, it does spike so you need a good PSU that doesn't shut down just because it's over current for 10ms. I ran mine perfectly fine on a 600W but others with really bad 600W PSUs could get random shutdowns.

They just dropped when Navi released. Don't know what else you're expecting.

590 is fine if you get it significantly cheaper than the 1660. Like AT LEAST 15% cheaper is ok. Performs about 5% worse, but also uses a lot more power. Vega is actually more efficient.

fuck up the cpu pins
fuck up putting on the heatsink
don't insert something all the way (ram, gpu, power cable, fan cable, etc)
use the wrong ram slots or pci slots

these are the main fuckups

can someone give me that troubleshoot flowchart for motherboards?

>wait for threadripper or buy 3950x
boys I'm waking up at night in cold sweats over this decision
