I'm crying as I write this.

I tried to get into cpld, but the intel software was such a bother to even install.
let alone finding proper manuals for the max2
what's some comfy fpga to start out with.
don't care about onboard gimmicks, just give me a breakout board with 5v barrel and programming port or something

Faggot Penis Gay Anus

Digilent Arty A7:
- 10/100 MB etherwebz port
- 4 push buttons
- 4 switches
- 8 leds (4 rgb 4 normal)
- a bunch of arduino-like connectors
- 4 pmod connectors which are like sockets for these little modules that have different parts on them ex vga, ps/2, 8 leds, ethenet, serial, oled rgb screens, esp32, etc.
- 254 MB DDR3L ram
- 16 MB quad spi flash
- Xilinx Atrix-7 FPGA
- 36k LEs or 100K LEs
- fast af >450 MHz
- can go even faster with 4 x 6 GB/s transceivers
- on chip ADCs

Digilent Arty S7:
- same buttons and switches
- 4 pmod
- 1 arduino connector thing
- same ram
- 128 MB flash
- 6 leds (4 green 2 rgb)
- Xilinx Spartan 7
- 23K or 52K LEs
- also >450 MHz
- no transceivers
- on board ADC
- comes with 100 MHz clock

Thank you very much for your highly informative comment.

saved, though looks expensive to just fiddle around with.
oh well, if I spend a bit more I might actually put some effort in

Any of the Digilent boards universities use to teach classes.

S7: $99 for 23K LEs, $129 for 50K LEs
A7: $129 for 35K LEs, $249 for 100K LEs

>posting your full name on a chinese cartoons board
oh no

So, your Field Programmable Gate Array broke.

What field are you in, and what did you use your FPGA for?

Fully Personalised Gimp Archive

I'm in a corn field rn but there's a wheat field 1 km away from here.
I cut a VGA cable open and connected it to my board added some buttons and made a box move around on the screen when i pressed the buttons, it was pretty cool, then I got bored and started messing around with the RAM megafunction, it made some cool patterns but the ram init didn't work so I had to use the live RAM editor which fucked with my JTAG and now it won't program the FPGA, it just keeps saying "JTAG chain broken". It's ok, It was a really shitty board. I'll probably get a new one next month. Can you tell I'm tired? Some fucking guy decided to tear down a wall using only a drill and woke me up.

I worked with a Waveshare spartan 6 board before. Way more power than I needed, the addon ecosystem isn't bad though. Currently looking at chink coolrunner devboards.

Same. I finally landed on Lattice Ice stick using the open source tool called yosys. It might not be as powerful compared to the big players, but it is good for beginners.

Did you take it off any sweet jumps?

yeah bro i jumped vcc to ground and it made a nice spark

there are walls in a corn field?
also I want an FPGA now, sounds fun to mess with

sick

check for my recommendations if you have the extra money you should go for an A7 because transceivers are fun.

Yo niggas I need CHEAP FPGA with a VGA port what get??

digilent please send me a cheap fpga, I'm getting you so many customers.

thank

What do you guys even do with your FPGAs?

I was making a VGA controller but I also want to make a CPU or maybe a full computer

Well, 'field programmable' technically mean 'out in the field' as in 'away from the office, or headquarters'. But an actual field is usually not your office or headquarters, unless of course you're a farmer, so that counts.

Just be careful. I don't think corn or HFCS will interfere, but I do believe Gluten (from wheat) may interfere with RAM chip timings. Damn Glutens!

don't worry my watch has a timer function so I can time it myself

Like a project to add to your resume?

no
like having fun

peasants dinking around with the hardware and not using the cloud

aws.amazon.com/ec2/instance-types/f1/

A

how the fuck do I connect the cloud to half a vga cable

Cloud services are gay. Jumper wires and microcontrollers are the real fun.

are you 12

I wish I was 12 again 2bh.
