It is also more private because no third party has any clue which queries are made by you. If you use public resolvers, they're getting your IP address, and if you run your own recursive resolver from your home connection, the same thing applies to the nameservers of sites you're using.

using a other dns other than your isp's is a meme. all your doing is just exposing the websites you visit to more third parties. now you isp + your dns provider (google, cloudflare (don't ever use cloudflare) ) can now also have the potential to mine the websites you visit.
