Used it once 10+ years ago and switched to unixlike operating systems. Haven't looked back. If I really need to unrar something, I use unar.

The proprietary .rar format is cancer and needs to die. Use standard open formats, such as .xz+.tar or .7z.

7z is pretty shitty format it doesnt support splitting and partial extraction.

using split loses metadata your split files will have no headers and you have no idea what their content is.
to extract an individual file from 7z you need extract all the files that precede it.

As for extraction, glancing through 7z format spec, it seems that there is a file list in the header. Experimentally, extracting a small file from a large archive on ramdisk was significantly faster than extracting the entire archive.
The main real problem with the 7z archival format is that it doesn't store all metadata (e.g. file permissions). tar and such are still better there, through perhaps lacking in other aspects.

there is one amazing feature in winrar that lets you bulk archive directories in their separate archive, you CAN do that in 7zip too but you would have to write a script that is bothersome itself but if you directories have spaces than it would be even morw bothersome.
winrar has that easy

Haven't used Peazip since version 6.1. I have used winrar before that. Used for almost a year TC4Shell since it is a windows explorer shell extension. Now I am using Bandizip, which reminded me of Peazip ironically, but faster.
