I want to get a Macbook pro because of the superior trackpad (and general build quality).
Plus I can get a screaming deal.
Never used a mac before, how fucked am I?

macs are fucking awesome but they also fuck you in the ass from time to time
so you're using it, and everything is going great, smooth, it just werks, nothing is getting in your way and then BAM a dick in your ass. Apart from this minor sporadic inconvenience they're perfect m8
Not sure having an amazing trackpad outweighs getting occasionally dicked up the ass.
Having second thoughts now.
They overheat too much and are over priced, also getting them repaired is a pain in the ass.
Also some newer models lock out linux or bsd use,so hope you like MAC OS or windows, alternatives are not an option.
>so hope you like MAC OS or windows
All I've ever known is Windows, how fucked am I if I start using Mac OS just because I love the trackpad on iMacs?
I have been using iphones since 2007 though, but that probably doesn't help.
install guix sd
Other than ga(y)ming, you'll be fine to my knowedge, but its been a few years since ive last used MAC OS.
Windows is still an option if you need it tho.
How do you know the trackpad is good if youve never used a mac op?
I read this OP a few days ago.
>(and general build quality).
Are you having a laugh?

garbage keyboard
All laptops are the same if you don't have any specific tasks you need to get done.
If you're just using the internet and writing documents, then buy w.e.
>superior trackpad
>no buttons
Literally gas yourself
Someone I know has one.
I absolutely hate every single other laptop trackpad I ever used.
No.
I've owned a bunch of laptops and they all turn to shit.
The plastic ones, the aluminum ones, it seems they all turn into floppy, bent pieces of shit.
Meanwhile my friend's macbook pros stay solid despite his abuse.
The trackpad is the button.
Have you ever used one? It's divine compared to regular laptop trackpads.
It depends. I was forced to have a mac by the company.
+Good at things it actually does. Integration with apps designed for MacOS is pretty seamless. Updates are frequent and painless.
+Looks nice. Literally the reason the company bought it for me since I'm client facing.
+The terminal is pretty much linux.
+Pretty decent OS desu.
-Doesn't do things it doesn't do. You want to be able to do fancy shit with a MS geared thing? Fuck you. Want to play a webm? Get fucked.
-Terrible bang for buck in terms of hardware.
>BUT user, MAC OS DOES MORE WITH LESS.
Yeah, that's fucking great, except that it still costs me 500 dollars to get a bump of like 1tb data storage - no macOS does not make limited data storage better.
-/+ pretty much you can do anything you need to in terminal. And you should.
I wouldn't buy it with my own money.
They're bombs. -literal- bombs. If you're lucky only your house will burn down
>Want to play a webm? Get fucked.
wat
Even the apple laptops can't do webms?
>I wouldn't buy it with my own money.
I just want the best possible trackpad there is.
Sick and tired of shitty trackpads.
I really like my 2019 MBP. I've had a Razer Blade for one year but I wanted something more professional, with better build quality and portability. The one thing I hate is that if you want to use a mouse with it DO NOT get the Magic Mouse. Fucking horrible device. Not ergonomic. Total waste of money.
Why don't you just carry a mouse?
>Apple can't do webm?
No, it can't. You'll have to use a 3rd party fix. It's annoying when I want to masturbate.
>Even the apple laptops can't do webms?
He's retarded, Safari can't play them but of course Chrome can.
>Sick and tired of shitty trackpads.
It's a great trackpad. The only issue is since it's partially software based, you can have a glitch where it suddenly is much harder to click and you have to restart the Mac.
But Windows has plenty of stuff like that and it's not the end of the world.
I hated the T440s clunkpad at first, but then I got used to it and I wouldn't pick any other trackpad. I suck at using the trackpoint with it though, where on a T430 I can use it just fine.
don't get a macbook unless they change to ARM or AMD.
Been similar for me, although I had some experience with Loonix which makes Mac OS easier to understand … but overall it's made for comfy easy of use, so your biggest issue will be trying to emulate your Windows workflow until you find one to take advantage of Mac OS.
Just don't get the Air, it's a total scam.
I generally don't respond to brainlets shitting these threads but JESUS. You do deserve a (You) for this dumb shit.
You're absolutely right about the insane premium for upgrades like storage but man, does it help against data hoarding. Currently I got a 256gb model with 80gb to spare and zero useless shit. It forces one to stay organized if you don't want to pay stupid prices. Though if you actually, REALLY need half a terabyte or more – yeah, it's understandable why it doesn't look too appealing.
>but of course Chrome can.
Why do you hate your battery life?
>Why don't you just carry a mouse?
It's for browsing in bed, the couch, etc.
I only use Chrome for webm stuff
are they going to finally replace the keyboards next year? ice lake xps is what I'm holding out for but if its still 16:9 i'd consider a macbook
GOD I LOVE APPLE OH YES DADDY
>how fucked am I
Allahu Akbar fucked
you'll be joining Al-Sheik Al-balbi Mohammed on the no fly list shortly before blowing yourself up and taking several infidels with you
Something I didn't expect with my MBP is the Touch Bar is pretty great actually. Easy to adjust volume in particular, but also lets you put a screenshot button and other tools
>All laptop trackpads are bad
I agree, only ones that are remotely good are HP elitebooks and Acer trackpads
>Build quality
Jesus...their scream breaks when opened more than 90 degrees, their qc and build quality is horrendeus. Just buy something bussines quality, like hp elitebook, thinkpads or workstation grade laptops
If you really want macbook that much, just watch louis' rossman video "which macbook should you buy" or something like that. He owns apple repair shop, and will tell you which ones break and which don't
You know not owning a macbook makes you an autistic sperg right?
I always found myself shelling out for stuff when I was on macOS. I don't know if I've ever paid for a Windows or Lunix program before, besides Steam games. But on macOS I bought a bunch of stuff:
Dragthing, basically a replacement for the dock that is more functional with tabs and stuff like a window list and a process list, $29
Steermouse, same price as a Jow Forums pass for a year ($20). Enables back and forward buttons on my gaming mouse for me, that's pretty much it.
Little Snitch, a utility that acts as an outgoing firewall, really pretty useful if you're pirating other apps. Something above $30
Textual, you can use hexchat or weechat like I do on the other platforms, but on macOS i prefer this GUI client with a bunch of integrations and fancy features. $8
macOS devs really nickle and dime you, or rather "dollar and 10" you. Very greedy, but they're just little devs so you feel bad for pirating
You’re just stupid
honestly this is a good description of using OSX
especially if you have to do file management in finder
>Using finder
>Not just using terminal
Seriously, disk utility, activity manager, finder, etc. are fucking useless retard proofed garbage.
I remember people bitching about finder for about a decade and never got why, specially once it got tabs; shit's pretty comfy and unlike explorer I never had finder die on me or force some weird view option (explorer when dealing with music files)
>something in OSX doesn't work like it should
>oh don't worry about it bro just use this long complicated method to bypass the problem
literally macfags.txt
>copying large folder
>glitches out on an error in a single file
>no option to ignore error
>have to restart operation from the beginning
Viewing hidden files is a pain in finder. Apple also hides all the options behind a gear icon for some reason and periodically changes what icons leas to functions. And file properties in Mac aren’t as detailed. Explorer is hideous but it’s designed better and finder is beautiful but a pain to use.
>macbook
>build quality
>shitty jamming keyboard and exploding battery
Finder's file sorting is atrocious
Retard
You have that in reverse. The macOS method is complicated and annoying, the terminal is easy.
>He doesn't have command line fucking scorched into his brain at this point
Do you even Jow Forums?
Oh, I actually do remember that happening once, fair enough.
Explorer hides the stuff too out of the box, so not like it's that different. Besides the icons seem pretty intuitive unlike the 2-3 steps it takes with Explorer.
>And file properties in Mac aren’t as detailed
Fair point too. Though for text files, ebooks, pdfs and similar, the preview easy balances it out IMO.
Don't recall that many differences compared to explorer, more of different quirks.
>(and general build quality).
Based sub 95 IQ poster
I'm too low iq to understand this image
Mac build quality is utter fucking shit.
>The trackpad is the button.
>Have you ever used one?
Yes, I have used them, clickpads are horrendous.
They inherently cause inaccurate pointer movement.
If your laptop doesn't have at least two buttons, preferably three, you're literally a gay nigger.
MacBook Pro with Magic Mouse is better than any Windows laptop.
The only reason to pick Windows is gaming
>better than any Windows laptop
Sure, if you're buying some consumer grade shitheap from a big box store
Even better than high end. Aero, Surface, Razer, etc.
>trackpad
Get a touch screen or a mouse, trackpads are inferior to both and they only existed back then because touchscreen laptop weren't a thing.
>high end
>Aero, Surface, Razer, etc
Those are big box store consumer grade shitheaps.
Buy business grade, or forever be a retarded nigger.
everything is soldered on, something breaks and it will break if you use it and you are fucked
with thinkpads you can almost manually repair everything even if it's officially not allowed
Business grade? That’s overpriced and underpowered
>That’s overpriced and underpowered
Nigger, you're the fag advocating people buy a thousand dollar toy netbook from applel
>thinkpads
My issue with Lenovo and HP is the hardware whitelisting
>better than any Windows laptop.
if you're looking to make an iED
>A) flash a modded BIOS with the whitelist removed
>B) follow a tutorial and dump your own BIOS and removed the whitelist portion yourself
Far easier than macshit with soldered on wifi chip where if that dies the entire fucking shitbook goes in the trash.
>Far easier than macshit with soldered on wifi chip
Indeed.
But I prefer to just plug shit in and go, when it comes time for upgrades or repairs.
Plus, having been inside a Lenovo Thinkpad or two, I'd rather work on Dell Latitudes and Precisions.
But by far, the most horrifying was the Lenovo X1 Carbon, neat little machine, but fuck working on those things.
It's pretty cool.
You can have MacOS running alongside Linux and Windows.
It's overpriced, though.
What kind of work are you in? Are you actually employed?
The latest you should buy is a MacBook Pro 2016 models, everything after that (for one reason or another) went to shit.
This is the experience of my peers, I am a ThinkPad user btw.
see
At least they can replace their batteries
So can you ass hat
Have you ever used anything unix based?
Works like a simplified linux distro
that means you're the li'l 110 Apu
Reminder that OP literally shits in the street.
it's always lagdroid EBT people makin the same Indian joke 1,000,000 times.
>genius abuses literal retard by selling him garbage and or controlling his actions through persuasion
>literal retard is oblivious, and yet he is happy and content with his life
You're not. You'll be fine. I promise you will hate the window management, download the spectacle app. Enjoy your overpriced computer
Trackpads are by far the absolute worst reason to spend thousands on a laptop. MacBooks do have great trackpads but there's so much more to choosing a good computer than just that. It's just not a wise decision to make.
Anyway, macOS is pretty much the MacBook's only redeeming quality.
>needing buttons on a trackpad
Literally gas yourself
I have literally NEVER seen you submit a good or even original post. Not a single time. It's almost impressive.
>thing you use constantly is a bad reason to pick a laptop
Nigga, what? The Mac trackpad is a total game changer and the only one that ensures you'll never need a mouse, while giving you more functionality than any mouse on top of that.
MacOS is nice and all but without the trackpad you're missing out badly. I'd rather use Win10 with a Force Touch trackpad than MacOS on a Surfacebook (MS laptops are the only ones worth considering due the aspect ratio).
How bad does your designated shitting street stink Rakesh?
>expecting good posts from tripfags
Mah sides.
>using laptops in 2k19
lmao
>shitting in the street in 2019
>posting images of nude men on the internet at any given point in time
lmao
Based and redpilled.
>judging user for liking brown men and sharing his passion with us
Not cool.
Mac laptops don't have home/end/page up/down keys, and they have this weird ctrl/option/command scheme that's impossible to get used to
Macs fucking suck
Doubt you're still in this thread, but meh.
I've worked for Apple for awhile now. Specifically with Macs and OSX. I don't own any Apple products. Take that as you will.

It's really hard to tell given how we lack the numbers to make a comparison. They sell fuckloads of Macs and their customers have certain expectations; someone with a broken keyboard on a walmart laptop isn't going to do much nor will there be any news about some Acer 42626 having issues.
In the last reliability survey from consumer reports I can find, they were by far the best (ironically Acer was #3) it's from 2017, so butterfly was already at gen 2 but it lacks data from the more recent ones and the current battery fiasco.
rescuecom.com
A more recent one from a different source still puts them on top and Samsung as #2 again; but the data is very limited due the source.
