Uni class requires the use of firefox
>that boomer professors who uses firefox or edge
how based can old people be
Pretty based considering they made us.
Yes, very comfy indeed.
Yeah totally man!!!1 let me know when you post it! I'll upvote you. Gotta spread the memes ya know
Yes, but only if you put me in the screencap (-:
>uni class requires Google chrome to run testing software.
>Use Firefox anyways.
based
This one is going to my yikes collection
you seem upset.
sugoi monogatari, onii-chan
you can't avatar post, see you in three days. dipshit
>Using post v56 Firefox
>not using Firefox 69
fag
>uni class requires the use of an IntelliJ based IDE
we're using eclipse...
the only "IDE" I've used before is ed (the standard text editor), pico/nano, and notepad++
aren't you COOL
?
>class requires ordering pizza
>class requires you to install proprietary software on your personal computer
Intellij is super useful though.
>class requires macOS
This but unironically. I genuinely despise proprietary software with a passion and it hurts to know that I'll probably have to spin a fucking windows VM just to pass some classes. Non-free software should be banned from classrooms entirely. All you're doing to your students is making them depend on some company's technology, how's that universal knowledge?
I remember in high school the school department forced us to all buy an ipad and buy like $50 bucks worth of apps from the app store. There was no doubt some jewery involved, but too bad I was too stupid back then to realise it
>Professor tells us to write MATLAB code
>Send in octave code
They never even noticed.
Yeah, absolutely agree.
What the fuck? What class and what fucking apps could you possibly NEED to pass it?
>uni doesn't impose anything
>use whatever OS you want
>use any SQL database you want
>in most classes you can even use any language you want, it's the algorithm that matters not lang
>mfw used Arch, postgresql and Rust all the time
It was a good uni.
>not using a purely functional language to assert your dominance over your professor
Did you go to a more academically oriented university? Countries, especially german ones make pretty clear distinctions between theoretically oriented and applied science unis. Knowing this, I deeply regret enrolling into the latter.
I thought academics love functional programming since it's practically the lambda calculus.
That wouldn't work because many of these algorithms were imperative by their nature.
But we do had functional langs on some classes.
>Did you go to a more academically oriented university?
I'm polish and we call all CS, CE, SE just "informatics". At my uni there was 3 informatics from different departments, that focus respectively on Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, and Computer Science(my pick). It was not clear at all, they all are called the same and of you don't know anyone older you are forced to blind pick. I happened to have friend at the uni who told me to pick CS one because "it's for big brains". I do not regret it at all, I already have all the practice and just want theory. We had some really interesting classes, eg class where we were writing compilers and then compete in Zachtronics style(scoreboard and the more optimized your solution is, the better score you get). Logic, formal languages, proving completeness/hardness, Turing machines/other automata etc were all missing on other informatics but our. We had like 5 functional langs too.
Your CS curriculum sounds fucking awesome, polish user.
>"all our exercises for this course will be done in matlab"
>"but we dont have a license, so we will be using octave as a substitute"
>2 semesters later
>"we have finally gotten our matlab licenses, you can use the software as you wish"
tank you bsade it tehnicens
Which town was is it? Poznań? Warszawa? inb4 AGH
Wrocław. CS at faculty of fundamental problems of technology at the technology University.
Many people hated it. But it was just gamedev and webdev kiddies. I went for theory and got the theory. But I had to listen to all these "waah why do I need to learn abstract algebra if I only want to program in PHP" etc. Most of them gave up after first year.
Also all of that was just for bachelor. I didn't go for master degree.
it is if you like it crashing every 5 seconds or have 16Gb+ RAM
>crashing every 5 seconds
what?
>not having 16Gn+ RAM
Ramlet
>this semester, my 7yo nephew had to buy an iPad for his elementary School
>iPads misteriously were on sale during August on pretty much every local retail store
I'm afraid of he becoming an IT virgin nerd with no life like me, what do Jow Forums
force him to fistfight you every weekend and during summer send him to a russo-korean labour camp in sibiria
if he comes back buttraped by vladimir just take it's receipt and shove him back into the womb
or you know make him install gentoo
firefox is comfy as fuck
>Send in octave code
How do you make sure it runs correctly on the professors computer? As far as I understand Octave extends the syntax a bit making it not perfectly compatible.
>How do you make sure it runs correctly on the professors computer?
By knowing the Matlab syntax, which is always valid in octave, but not the other way around.
based anti-botnet professor
>school has a required book unique to the school and semester so you can't use an old version
>all my other textbooks require new versions for an online access code
>the one for my math class won't be in stock for weeks
t-thanks
uni requires you to use wondows
No, it's terrible. It grabs you into its tentacles and doesn't release you. I'm now terribly frustrated when I have to do some programming in other languages it doesn't support (I'm not willing to buy a license, I'm even considering to starting some OSS project just so I'm eligible for their free license).
>uni requires you to use gentoo
fucking shit, you just _had_ to replace the girl with a fucking diseased frog, you absolute shitter
fairy wars when?
...
stop talking about uni zoomers
stop complaining about zoomers, old man
yike !
